So You Think That the 2004 Cubs Are Unstoppable?
I hate to say it, but I still think the Cubs are the team to beat in the NL Central. The Astros added Pettitte, sure, but those Killer B guys just keep getting older. To me, they are big question marks each year until they retire.

The sox suck
From time to time, you have to take the step to actually play the young guys to see exactly what you have.

The sox suck
We STILL need a solid LH RBI man. Have needed that since 2000.

Worst and Best Trades
Hey cwsox, what trades in the Veeck 70's era are you talking about? I'll give you that the 60's Sox trades really hurt, but who did we trade away in the 70's? I know about Goose-Forster for Zisk, but we would have lost those guys anyway, just like we did Zisk. That trade was the foundation for the 77 Hitmen, which was one of the funnest Sox seasons ever. The team he left for the JR-EE regime had some pretty good young players on it that helped set up the '83 team. As for Veeck gutting the Browns, that team never had anything to gut. In fact, and this is scary now that I think of it, the Browns situation with the Cardinals reminds me of the current Sox-Cubs predicament.

What would You do with 200 million dollars?
That's because of our high quality management.

Hello my name is . . .
Hi, I'm Larry. I live in Kentucky but grew up in the southside suburbs of Chicago. Unlike sox4lifeinpa I'd never use the abbreviation for my current state in my handle. It has a tendency to attract unwanted offers, if you know what I mean.

What would You do with 200 million dollars?
I'd quit work .... and go back to school. Of course that would be after a few well planned excursions to some of the world's greatest locations.

Palestine vs. Israel
That's like saying the Isreali military company, regiment, whatever ... did not take part in the cease fire.

1st thread of 2004! (for me)
Because these teams play each other so much, somebody has to finish above .500.

worst moves by Kenny Williams
No, actually it is right on the money. After 2002, KW signed him to a multi year deal and basically overpaid for a slow, one dimensional 1B. PK's a good guy and had those good years for us, but he's not worth $8 million per year to this ballclub.

Agreed!

Francisco Campos
Ok, we picked a guy up with the AAA version of the rule 5 draft. Clubs do this all the time. Why all the sarcasm?

You have points there Brando ... but they are all if's, coulda's and woulda's.

Joe Crede not as good as expected
I'd like to see Crede be that opening day 3B in 2014. That means he'll have a very solid and extended career with the Sox. Go Joe Crede.

I don't think Wells would have been a difference maker in 2002. And do you think KW would have pursued Colon so diligently if we had Wells in the staff at that time? That's impossible to say, but if he had Wells probably would have been in THAT deal.

Worst and Best Trades
The best trade in White Sox history is the Tommy John and, I believe, Rich Morales for Dick Allen. That saved the franchise for the city of Chicago. What other qualification do you need?

I have to agree that the Ritchie trade was the worst of KW's deal. As for that comment that Lowe would have been an awesome starter for us, who's staff is he the ace of right now? At the time, I hated to lose Lowe, but he's bounced around since and hasn't really done much. Wells has been the best pitcher in that deal, and he hasn't been all that great. Fogg has also done just so-so. Ritchie was a collosal flop, but it's not like we gave up Lou Brock for him.

Carlos Guillen
According to the Denver Post, ex-Rockie Jeff Cirillo is headed to San Diego next week in a deal that includes Pat Jarvis going to Seattle. That would free up money and 3B for Guillen to stay in Seattle.

Winter League Updates
Oh c'mon. With a veteran like Jose, those winter ball numbers don't mean a thing.

New Deadline!!!
He better play his cards right. Maggs is a helluva ballplayer.

Schoeneweis to return
I'm certainly not sold on the idea of Shoney being our number 4 starter. I guess we'll have to see what happens.

DEAL LIKELY: New York Daily News (WITH LINK)
I just wish this would get done, one way or another. I'm sick of talking about it.
