That goes without saying.

The jury is out on Garland. It's time for him to step up and become a major league pitcher. That prospect crap only carries you so far. C'mon Jon ...
-
I can see TB making this move. If Rocker can be anything close to the pitcher he was with Atlanta, come the trade dealine, he might have some value. I read several teams approached KW about our LH relievers at the end of ST.
-
Keeping Colon over Konerko is a no-brainer. I can't believe this is even being seriously discussed.
-
Then again, Jason, sometimes the squeeky wheel gets the grease. I can't see KW or JR hiring Bobby V. JR has a tendency to stay in house with his hires. He shows us that "most" of the time with both the Sox and the Bulls.
-
Leave it to Jason to cut through the bulls*** and get right to the crux of the matter. Good job!

I've got to start bypassing these long threads. Actually, I enjoyed reading everyones comments during the game. Makes for an interesting read.

Seems like I've heard that abou you.

Does this surprise anybody? Everyone is always looking for an angle to bring in more of the almighty dollar. And when it comes right down to it, it's the American way. Supply and demand determines the market, and when people make up their minds that they won't go along with that crap, and cause a major falloff in demand, then it will stop. Until then, just bend over.

Wow! Did we need this thread. Thanks Cluj and Jason. That is exactly the perspective we need, instead of crucifying the guys that are struggling. The Sox will be a very good team this year, I have no doubts. Now, let's just relax and ENJOY this possible championship season.

Perhaps we can amputate his arm, clone Olivio's, and attach it to Alomar!!! I can think of a few pitchers we should attach on a clone of Olivo's arm.

I don't get why Dog Day is so early! Isn't Dog Day supposed to be in the Dog Days of Summer? they have dog day early because if they held in july and it was like 100 degrees and someone's dog died they would probably end up sueing the sox seriously its just not a good idea to keep dogs out in the heat for that long if they are house pets and were raised mostly indooors..and alot of dogs ,whether we think its right or not , are raised that way Well, what if it's very cold in April and the dog dies of frostbite? Then what do you do??? The dogs are better equipped for the cold than we are.... They have fur coats.

What if Loaiza and Stewart r the real deal?

How can the same guy be a bad owner for the Tigers and a good one for the Red Wings? He's brought championships to the Wings while the Tigers have been bad to mediocre. The more I type, and start thinking about the Bulls/Sox.... the more realize I better just shut up. LOL -
If the Cubs don't promote him to the ML bye sometime around the end of June, he has the option of becoming a free agent. Yes, I would think he does harbor some resentment towards the Sox. I sem to remember reading some quotes of his that weren't very complimentary.
-
OUCH! Mariners, Rangers(Senators), DRays, White Sox, Expos, Cubs, Rockies. These are the teams that I cannot remember being in a WS. I was almost two years old in '59, s I don't remember that. This is pretty pathetic how it reflects on Chicago Major league Baseball.
-
That could be exactly what he needs. He'd learn that a rotation spot is not his based on potential alone. I could be way off base here, but maybe JG needs a slice of humble pie.

It is going to be a long time coming if it ever happens. They have a lot of really bad contracts to recover from, the farm system has been robbed blind, and the attitude of the organization is just terrible as I understand it. Plus they have alienated most of the fans up there and attendance is terrible. Even if they can find the talent enough to start to win, I don' think that they can rebuild a fan base quickly enough to keep those players. I agree that the Tiger franchise will be turned around in time. Trammel is purposely doing what he is this year to prepare the team for the future. The Tiger fan base will be back too. They have away just waiting for something to happen but when it does they will be back. Not that I will enoy that living in Tiger country - but once they have a reason to go to their games they will go. I've always considered the Tigers on of the most storied franchises in the AL. They have a great tradition and good fans. -
I think this trade wil work out well for all parties involved.
-
That may be where he ends up if and when Danny Wright comes back. It's not something I ever thought about before. If Stewart keeps piching well, and Wright can come back healthy, Jon may be pressed to keep his spot in the rotation, if he doesn't get it straightened out.
-
Exactly, exactly, which is why some of the glee at his misfortunes bother me. The guy has to be devastated in his own heart. Whatever his strengths and weaknesses, he was an all out ball player and what more can be asked? I really agree with you here. It's a shame Butter is struggling so much with injuries. I hope he can eventually turn it around.

His .900 slugging percentage has as much relevance at this point of the season as PK & CL's slugging percentages at this point of the season. Jose will cool off eventually, and the other two guys will pick it up.

I hate to remind you folks that we haven't been to a World Series since 1959. Don't take too much satisfaction on the Cubs lackof success.
-
Hitting jaggernauts don't bat .090 on 2-0 count. Something is horribly wrong with his "eye" and his approach. Too many strike outs and pop ups, somebody should etch the "if you hit it hard homers will come" on his forehead if there enough room. It's been one week! Crap.
-
No. I'm not saying Frank is just a mistake hitter. What I said was he would see less mistake pitches. A good hitter will jump on mistake pitches and therefore elevate his stats. All good hitters do that, not just Frank.

Once again: being very high on (healthy) Rauch is not the same as printing the Coopers Town jersey...no matter how many times you say it out loud. Just say you've completely given up on him and get it over with. Newsflash: 99.99 of pitchers are not as good as Randy Johnson. No, I haven't given completely up on him, and I'll speak for myself, thank you. I have no need in you doing it for me. I said what I meant to say and nothing more was implied. I like Rauch as a prospect to be a good ML pitcher.... maybe.
