    Draft Order

Seems to be an annual cycle, doesn't it?
  2. Berkman has it right .... the community urinal on the north side, is what I call it.
  3. I've been off the board for a couple of days and I was shocked when I saw HSC's original post on this thread. I've been a KW supporter based solely on the fact that he hastried to do the right things when it comes to acquiring players. Some things worked and others didn't. I've also been saying recently the as a way of shaking up the clubm, JM should probably be canned. But, after reading this entire thread, I can see where canning KW could be just exactly what this team needs. It would remove the "overbearing control freak boss" pressure from the club house. Maybe our guys can relax and just play ball. If Kenny is the problem, as HSC has been screaming forever then by all means, reassign his ass.
  4. I'd like to know why you think so. Is not Backman the manager at Birmingham? And, from what I understand, that team would have trouble hitting their way out of a wet paper bag right now.
  5. Cw we have been through this before , Rowand is a 4th Of at best ,his time has past we need to look in a different direction hitting good at AAA, does not cut it anymore. If everything you say is right, and you may be, if he is a 4th OF, then still, why hostile to him? He never dogged it, never. He went all out all the time. Some respect for his spirit and regret that he didn't have more of what it took would sound better to me than f*** you sucker. And he'd be a damned good 4th OF that could be very valuable to the team. Lets hope he gets his swing back. CW, alot of guys hustle and play hard, but that does not mean they are very good players, i think he is Done as a regular player on this team and yes he would be a good 4th OF nothing more ever. Just because a guy is not "a very good player" does not mean he deserves to be berated with obscenities like they say the "fans" in center field did to Aaron tonight. It's uncalled for and classless.
  6. Rex, thank you for that post. I get so tired of people in here who call themselves fans of the team, yet anonymously called them every vulgar name that can think of, with a few of these .... :fyou :fyou :fyou thrown in for good measure. Hey people .... these guys are real life living and breathing human beings. I'd be willing to bet that some of them can even read. How would like to perform your job, then go home at night and see 15 people calling you a f***ing dips*** motherf***ing cocksucker moron who couldn't pour piss out of a boot with the instructions written on the heel? I mean c'mon guys, lighten up a bit.
  7. I don't see how anyone can criticize Williams for his comments on the JM situation. What he basically said, in a long winded way, was "no comment".
  8. Manuel made the right move here. There is no way he could afford to let Koch blow this game, and he was sure showing signs that is exactly what was going to happen. "Defined" roles only go so far.
  9. I would leave JV in that number 2 spot in the lineup. Putting Harris in the leadoff spot is risky, but with Jiminez scuffling like he has been lately, that might be the thing to do. If not, I'd put Harris batting 8th in front of whoever is catching. With him on base, Alomar and Olivo should see some good pitches to hit.
  10. With the history the Sox have had in developing their prime pitching prospects, fightng instruction may not be a bad thing.
  11. With our currect lack of hitting, we anybody and everybody to hit.
  12. 1. I really don't believe Rowand is "done" as a major leaguer. I do believe the after effects of that injury is the reason he can't cut it right now. I'll predict right now that Rowand will be on a major league roster come opening day next year. 2. How do we know Willie Harris is not the answer. Did he look bad last season and in spring training this year? Yes, and we all agree on that. But, the kid has some tools and maybe not making the team this spring was a wake up call for him. Or, maybe he just now is becoming "ready". I have been thinking this move should be made. They gave Rowand more than enough time to get himself straightened out. We can't affrd to give him any more time on the big club. He'll have to get it turned around in Charlotte. I think he'll get that accomplished, too.
  13. There is nothing wrong with our catching position, currently. The way things stand right now, seems to be working. I say let this evolve and take it's natural course.

    we won!

Baggs is right about one thing... We sure needed this win. And to blow a 2 run lead in the 9th and go on to lose it would have been very difficult for this team to overcome. I know Koch refused to answer questions about what happened tonight and said he would talk to the media tomorrow. At least that showed a little intelligence on his part.
  15. Sammy for Bell was one of the worst trades in Sox history. Who's to say that Sammy would have evolved into the one dimensional, selfish player he is today if he was with the Sox. I think that the "atmosphere" at Wrigley and the "lovable loser" mentality that permeates that organization allowed Sosa to turn into the jerk he has become. George Bell was a big time bust from the word go. Considering that we traded Harold Baines for Sosa, then gave him up for Bell, that makes it an even worse deal.
  16. If Thomas hit it on the screws, which it appears that's what happened, then it seems to me he got a pitch to hit and hit it. It just happened to be right at somebody. He hit's a 1/4 inch lower on the baseball and it's in the stands. Runner in scoring position, RBI man at the plate and he gets a pitch to nail. I have no problem with that. By all means Frank, if you can hit that hard, do so... and I don't care to which side it goes.
  17. Something definitely has to be done. Send Rowand down seems to be the most logical choice at this time. Let him find his stroke in Charlotte. Willie Harris may turn into the sparkplug this team needs.
  18. at this point in time does it really matter anymore????? without offense we suck... and the defense isnt much better sorry to say........who cares whos on the mound... they arent going to get much support anyhow........mho........ An insightful humble opinion at that. We have got to get our bats going. This is pathetic.
  19. As long as the Sox keep sucking so damn bad, this thread will never die. Unless we all give up and not give a s*** anymore.
  20. That's women, not Sox fans. LOL
  21. LOL ... You "local" Chicago people are spoiled.
  22. This is real simple. Gays are looked down on by society for one reason. They are DIFFERENT. That has been a common theme in all societies throughout history. Jews were persecuted because of DIFFERENT religious beliefs. Blacks were persecuted because they looked DIFFERENT. The Native Americans were persecuted because they lived totally DIFFERENT from us "normal" people. Gays are persecuted because their sexual orientation is DIFFERENT. Yet, lesbiamsm is much more accepted in our current society than male homsexuality. Why? It's because our whole lives we have been bombarded with visual stimuli telling us what is "sexy". The fact that some women have become attracted to other women has been more accepted, because they also have been bombarded with the same visual stimuli. Being DIFFERENT puts a person in a very uncomfortable position. Yet, it has, and probably always will be that way.
  23. I seem to recall one where a couple of the ESPN guys do a takeoff on Abbott & Costello's old "Who's on First?" routine. But I just can't quite come up with it. Help me out guys. Anyone remember this commercial?
  24. The Vietnam War was really a crime against America. They sent our men and women over to there fight and die, but not to win. And had a mandatory draft to top it off. LBJ and his cronies should have been prosecuted.
  25. Hey... if I was stuck in Iowa, I'd party ever time I got out of there too.
