Not only haven't we proven we can beat the Twins...... We haven't won on our west coast trips since the early 90's, I would venture to guess.
-
We need to add Gammons to that plan. He predicted the Twins to have themost wins in the AL.
-
He certainly has enough of an up side that we shoudn't give up on him. I think he'll be with Sox at some point this season.
-
Thanks for posting that link, 247. I didn't know much about Rios. That article was both informative and encouraging.
-
It is a pretty good assessment of the team. Still, I think enough of the Sox questions will be answered affirmatively. The Twins have their question marks as well. Nobody seems to take those into consideration.
-
Count on seeing Wright by June, at the earliest. I hope Danny is able to be that 12th pitcher.
-
Frank came into Spring Training and got all the crap off his chest. He has since been quite a team oriented guy. Working hard on defense, etc. His apprach is exactly what he did early in his career.... be selective and try and drive a pitch to right center or up the middle. He really seems to have the right attitude...... for now. We'll see.

thanks alot.. get my hopes all up till i read the rest of the thread and crash.....down they go..... either way miles is still my boy...........ill just go to see him in carolina.......... :fyou kenny williams There is still a chance for Miles. He'll be with the club in Houston. If JP gets traded, he just might make it. Harris is already gone.

I can see them picking the Twins... though I'm more inclined to agree with Phil Rogers. However, the Cubs? No way in hell. They will have a good year if they play .500.
-
JR offered Frank a choice... Albert Belle or some guy name Barry Bonds. In fact, he tried to talk Frank into Bonds because he was a lefty and was beter defensively. Jamie Navarro was the worst FA signing. He was terrible. He was also a big time jerk. I was thrilled to see him traded.

lol rex....... we dont reward for being good, havent you been paying attention....lol..... its all just being cautious for danny...........i told you guys didnt i... never trust it when kw says "oh hes ok.. just a little soreness"...........lol.... it always means major surgery is about to happen...........thats just how kw is........... I hope you are wrong, Darlin'. ven though I've had the same suspicion. It's happened too many times in the past.

I'd have to be inclined to believe that they have a trade for Paul in the works, and any interested team would not pull the trigger in hopes the Sox would just release him. This 3 catcher situation cannot last all year. No way in hell. By May 1st we will need a 12th pitcher. BTW... I heard Danny Wright had some next day soreness after his 2 inning stint and Josh Stewart has been told to prepare to go againts the Kitties on April 6.
-
Yes, the Sox screwed up big time with JRauch last year. And until we beat the Twins, I can see why everyone is picking them.

well said Thank you. I didn't want to bash anybody. If fact, I occasionally "lurk" over there as a non-member.

The aid is mostly weapons and military tech. I'm just saying that we should shut off the $ faucet to Colombia too if we are serious about stopping human rights violations and we should go in and overthrow every government that is harming people (what about the US and their abuses to prisoners that have been found to be innocent? isn't that harming people) US intelligence officials were quoted in the Wall Street Journal that they were taking suspects over to countries where they didn't have Miranda rights so they could "pistol whip" (i.e. torture) information out of them. With the passage of PATRIOT II...anybody deemed "Subversive to the state" can be deported....Who is to say what subversive is? Protests? Boycotts? Sit-ins? An appeal to emotion by Bush is the last resort for his propaganda machine because he couldn't get the world to go to war any other way because he didn't have the facts. well we need info from them and you are not gonna get it from them by being nice(not saying it is the way to go) but when thousands of lives depend on it you have to do what you have to do. We are not killing them and not even coming close to killing them. When apu says the anyone "Subversive to the state" can be deported, he's saying that right now it's suspected Muslim extremists. Next time it could be college age anti war protesters, or White Sox fans, or whoever. Remember lessons learned in the past, and I am in no way comparing our Gov't to Hitler here, but in pre-war Germany, he went after the homosexuals, then eventually the Jews. When he started removing homosexuals, nobody complained, eventually when he came for the last ones on his list, there was no one to complain to. Just keep your eyes open for attempts to subvert your constitutional rights, and scream like hell when you see it.

Someone said that Saddam was not responsible for 9/11, when, in fact, he was indirectly responsible for it. Follow this sequence of events: 1. Saddam invaded Kuwait 2. Saudi Arabia, in fear that Saddam would next invaded them, asked the US to put a military presence in their country. 3. We did, and used that as a staging area to push Saddam out of Kuwait. 4. Saddam signed an agreement, treaty, whaever, agreeing to certain stipulations in return for us ending any aggressions. 5. Saddam failed to live up to his agreement, forcing us to stay in SA in case he started up again. 6. Usama bin Laden started Al Queda BECAUSE we were the infidels, occupyin his holy land. 7. Al Queda has been at war with the US ever since. And they did commit the 9/11 attrocity. There is most certainly a link between Saddam and 9/11. Granted, it is an indirect link, but there is no denying his advance on Kuwait led to the 9/11 attack.

France wants in on the post war mop up operations in Iraq, so they can mop up all the evidence of their involvement with Saddam and total disregard for the UN sanctions that were supposedly in effect against Iraq.

You should be in no hurry to choose your profession now. Basically, what you should try to achieve is get as much of a high quality all around education, now. That will prove to be a very good foundation for whatever field you decide to go into. Good luck to you.

Well, I have to agree. It would seem that as of now, Stewart is the 6th guy for us. If anyone goes down, he would IMO be the first one to be called upon. If Danny isn't ready for some reason (as of now, he appears to be very much on track), or if Esteban struggles at some point, we'll see Josh step in. The only qualifier on that is that Stewart will still have to be pitching well when the need arises.
-
Considering that our 2002 ST ERA was atronimical, you have to be encouraged by the pitching in this ST.
-
And, until we do that, the Twins are the favorite and, thusly, the team to beat. As far as the Twins in the WS goes..... Rosenthal must have gotten hold of a good crop of wacky tabaccy I agree. Until we can beat them head to head, we can't claim anything. Also agree on the WS assessment. The Twins starting pitching is good over the long haul, but in a short series situation, they are vulnerable because they really don't have an "ace". We've got 2, Oakland 3, NY has 17! LOL

I believe the biggest factor in what will effect next years payroll is simply how well the Sox start off this year. The fans are excited about this teams chances. They will come out to the park early in the season if the weather cooperates. If the team starts winning, the excitement will continue to swell and attendance will jump over any recent season. In 2000, no one really believed the Sox would maintain tha pace, so they didn't buy into it until it was late in the year. By then, the Sox had practically clinched, so there were no "crucial" series to spur attendance. In 2001, 2002 by June we all new the Sox wouldn't win anything. but with this team, if they get on and stay on a roll, the park should be jumping.

I can't see the Cubs doing anything special this year. Hell, they lost.. what? 95 games last year? That means a 14 game improvement gets them all the way back to .500. They had Wood, Clement and for most of the year, Prior, last year and still lost all those games. Exactly where is the improvement? Remlinger? Ok, sure he'll help some. Dusty? He may, through attitude change, get them a few more wins. As long as Sosa is going to be so "me" oriented, the Cubs will never win.
-
If memory serves me correctly, Boggs retired as a D'Ray.... and possibly still has some position with the team.

YASNY, with all due respect to you.. I've seen many of his rants. The ones of late in regards to the war have been downright ignorant. This last comment was over the top. The disrespect might not have been directly directed to me.. but it was a blatent slap in the face to ALL who have family serving in the forces. EVERY life, Iraqi and American, lost is a terrible tragedy. It's not about "wooo hoo, we killed more of theirs!!". And his comment that we've lost less so that's OK, and unless we are personally effected "it doesn't really matter". Tell that the the families of the POW's plastered all over the tv. He's a moron on this issue. I agree Steph, I'm just saying he has been receptive to more enlightened points of view in the past.
