  1. Can I have a sig involving Fields and Alexei?
  2. I am learning to really hate it when people say "the 1 inch line" or the "1 foot line" on football broadcasts. There is no 1 inch line or 1 foot line, there are just lines evenly placed every full yard. Just say "1 inch" or "1 foot" away from the goal line/first down.
  3. http://women.timesonline.co.uk/tol/life_an...icle5627634.ece Thoughts? I'm pretty sure this isn't the first person to have this idea, actually.
  4. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Feb 2, 2009 -> 10:59 AM) WTF? Don't you know? If you listen to rap, you do drugs.
  5. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Feb 2, 2009 -> 10:44 AM) I figured he was smoking since I heard he liked to warm up to Lil Wayne... Well that is true, usually listening to rap equals doing drugs.
  6. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Feb 2, 2009 -> 10:51 AM) Exactly... you just said it yourself, it didn't pop out right away. He got an awkward pass off. It didn't pop out, but it was clearly loose, which means it didn't have control of it. And you can't throw a pass if you don't have control of the ball, it's just a fumble that went forward. I won't argue that it's bad it wasn't reviewed though, it's pretty asinine to not look at it. Even if it hadn't been as "close" as it was, you still take a look. I just think the call was right, so them not looking at it didn't actually cost somebody something.
  7. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Feb 2, 2009 -> 10:43 AM) However, it still warranted review. I have seen by NFL definition that called a forward pass. It warranted review obviously, but the call would have been upheld anyways, and that's all that really matters. It was a very unique play though because it's rare to see a quarterback have the ball jarred loose like that but have it not actually pop out right away. There were actually several strange plays last night.
  8. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Feb 2, 2009 -> 10:36 AM) By the NFL's definitions, that was a forward pass, and AT LEAST warranted review. For them to let Pittsburgh run a play at such an important time is a joke, and completely ruined that game for me. If Warner had actually controlled the ball until it came completely free, I'd agree it was a forward pass. To me, the initial contact is what jarred the ball loose (which was before the arm started forward), but since the ball didn't jar completely free right away (it took about an extra quarter second or so), the ball went forward. Even if you watch it with red shaded glasses, it is at most inconclusive (I don't think it's that close at all), and it was called a fumble.
  9. Warner obviously made a throwing motion on that fateful play, but he didn't have control of the ball. It was clearly stripped and coming loose before the arm went forward and thus, the ball went forward. I am baffled as to why people think it's a pass (other than all the bandwagoners who rooted for Arizona being biased), this isn't the first time the ball went forward on a fumble involving the QB and it won't be the last. The hand doesn't have to be completely empty for it to be a fumble, because it's still a fumble if the QB doesn't have control of the ball as it begins to go forward, and he didn't. You can't be "throwing" something you don't have control of.
  10. The refs were bad, but it was still an all time great Super Bowl, if not game in general. The Cardinals have nobody to blame but themselves for that loss. Kurt Warner caused a direct swing of 10 to 14 points by forgetting where the defensive player of the year was, the Cardinals forgot they had Larry Fitzgerald for 3 quarters, and they STILL led with 2:30 to go, only to see their defense not get it done. The Cardinals were the better team tonight, but shot themselves in the foot (as much as people hate it, those penalties on Arizona were legit except the roughing the passer which should have been intentional grounding) and it cost them a ring. Great game though, so many memorable plays. I also thought Pittsburgh's defensive coaching staff had a bad night as they didn't blitz nearly enough. Fortunately for them, Arizona wasn't on the field hardly at all the first 3 quarters thanks to some ball control offense from Big Ben and the boys, but it nearly came back to haunt them in the 4th quarter when the Steelers offense went cold and Arizona got it's chances. Big Ben and Santonio bailed them out in the end though, as did James Harrison and his amazing play to end the 1st half.
  11. QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Feb 1, 2009 -> 02:34 PM) I bet Phelps rips mad bongs. He eats what, 12,000 calories a day right? I would think you need some drugs just to get hungry enough to eat that much at times.
  12. Today was a tough game in the sense they they were playing a mediocre opponent, at home, coming off a bad and painful loss in an important game. It was just a survive and get the win type of situation, and Illinois deserves credit for at least doing that today. Iowa is pretty good for the 2nd worst team in the Big 10 though standingswise I will say that, especially with them not being healthy. This years Big 10 is the best league without a legitimate Final Four contender I can remember seeing. Michigan State is not a legit contender. You can't be considered that if you lose at home to Penn State and Northwestern, no matter how improved they are, and I still think Purdue is too small.
  13. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Feb 1, 2009 -> 03:17 PM) Go Steelers! I know it's vogue to always take the underdog. But I'm actually getting sick of average teams (i.e. sleepwalking through the first 12-14 games and somehow getting hot towards the end) getting to, and in some cases, winning the SB. I know the NFL and most fans love the parity. But this is getting crazy. When was the last time you could say without question the two best teams made the SB? s***, when was the last time you could actually say the best team won the SB? You could say the same thing about baseball. The champion of a sport with a 162 game season is decided by who can win 3 out of 5 and then 4 out of 7 twice, and the best team doesn't win too often as it turns out in MLB either.
  14. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 1, 2009 -> 02:59 PM) "I don't think that taste is there." Wow. He says it literally as the pitch that would end the game is being delivered. You couldn't time it better if you tried, it's amazing.
  15. Quite a performance by the Hawks last night. To have that bizarre call (even if it was right, it was bizarre) basically turn a 2-0 game into a 1-1 game in an almost impossible enviorment to win, and they come back and end up winning the game comfortably is pretty remarkable.
  16. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jan 31, 2009 -> 05:01 PM) I obviously think she was a joke, but the whole africa is a country thing is just the mccaain campaign folks talking s***. I'm sure she isn't THAT stupid. I know it's probably not true, but I would just love to believe it is because I can't stand her. It's not entirely her fault that she was made a VP candidate WAY before she was ready, but I like to think it was anyways. She was a bit, well, slow though, even for a young politician in my opinion.
  17. The question I have is, do you care? If I recall correctly, he got a DUI and while underage to boot, so perhaps he likes to party a bit too much, and I know any drug use is illegal. But despite all that and the fact that I have never touched drugs and generally find any use of them to be pretty stupid, I don't care if he does them. I doubt it had any affect on his swimming at the olympics or otherwise, and beyond that I don't have any interest or care in what he does anyways. I'm sure this will blow up and be a big controversial story on ESPN though Monday, so get ready for it.
  18. QUOTE (Palehosefan @ Jan 31, 2009 -> 04:51 PM) Can't blame the guy. Copeland's a senior that gets to play about 1 minute a game if he's lucky, and he was going against NC State's starters still in the game. The object of the game is to stop the other team, not take a cheap shot because you are pissy that you got your ass whipped. Cheap shot? Are you sure you were watching the same foul we're talking about? He swated at the ball and hit him in the head, part of the game. It was a hard foul, but absolutely not a cheap shot. I understand you have the baby blue tinted glasses on, but that was nowhere near a cheap shot. The cheapest part of that play is trying to dunk with 2 seconds left in a blowout to get yourself on sportscenter, regardless of how many minutes he plays.
  19. QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 31, 2009 -> 04:22 PM) What does Copeland expect? Up 15, you don't try and score there. Pull the ball out and run the clock out. Agreed. If Copeland wants to be a punk and try to run up the score, he should not be surprised if he gets mugged (and it wasn't a dirty foul either IMO, just a hard foul). Then, he gets all pissy about it to boot. Copeland looked very stupid there.
  20. Dayton Moore and Jon Daniels ahead of Jim Hendry? I hate the Cubs as much as the next guy, but that's pretty ridiculous. Kenny is about right though, assuming he's the very bottom of the second tier.
  21. I thought the media went after Palin because she was unqualified to be Vice President, and as we found out later, didn't know simple things like the fact Africa is a continent. I think the media's rush to deify Obama was pretty laughable, but I don't think they necesarily ripped on McCain/Palin unfairly.
  22. Reinsdorf's comments are proof yet again that John Paxson is going nowhere. That's really a shame too, because he's proving himself as one of the NBA's worst GM's, and Derrick Rose can't do it alone so the Bulls will continue to be a poor team as long as Paxson is in charge. Very sad news.
  23. Wake making the classic mistakes of a young team. Get caught looking ahead to Duke and lose to Virginia Tech, get caught enjoying the Duke win and lose to Georgia Tech. The Duke win now means nothing because they lost 2 games they had no business losing. They'll learn from that though I'd assume.
  24. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jan 30, 2009 -> 04:06 PM) Don't you guys also have 2 WR's coming in from East St Louis, too? Hawthorne is ESL. There is another ESL WR, Appleton, who Illinois has a pretty good shot at too, although his decision won't really be known until he signs Wednesday. What Appleton will actually do depends on who you ask, but I think Illinois is a slight favorite (that's all a verbal means anymore in my opinion, that you are the favorite).
  25. Even if Wise's name weren't in Ozzie's leadoff comment, i'd still HATE the idea. A platoon at leadoff really doesn't sit well with me, messes with the lineup chemistry in my opinion.
