Congrats to Wisconsin, assuming they can win that scrimmage at Northwestern Saturday, they are outright Big 10 Champions. And I think Florida knocked themselves out of the dance tonight by blowing that lead. -

PP Tonight: Anaheim 0 for 2 Hawks 2 for 10 10 to 2 always helps, although Anaheim was playing at best chippy and at worst dirty, so the advantage was warranted to a certain degree. -

Certainly the kid deserves credit and congrats, to shutout the defending champs in a game that big at all, let alone for your first win, is great. But the performance of the defense tonight was nothing short of heroic, holding that team to 19 shots and not that many great chances, plus endless blocked shots. Great game to watch tonight, as was last night. -
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Mar 5, 2008 -> 04:25 PM) Just want to know, why some people think Hilary will get the nomination if it goes to the convention in Denver, and if she's behind in delegates? Is it because of the super delegates, who will be yet to decide (and Clinton will do anything she can to get them on board)? Superdelegates, and the fact that the Clintons will do ANYTHING to get her the nomination, including lie, cheat, and steal. They've already started down that road, in fact. Of course, if Hillary gets the nomination via at the convention, she will get destroyed in November, but she is too ignorant to realize it.

http://videos.thestate.com/vmix_hosted_app...edia?id=1746223 Did he get the shot off in time? It's so hard to tell, i'm glad i'm not those refs. They said it was not off in time, and I'd probably agree that the shot was not away in time, even with the clock starting 1 or 2 tenths of a second late. But this is in the eye of the beholder. Either way you see it, it comes down to a matter of a tenth of a second IMO. Poor refs.

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Mar 5, 2008 -> 01:28 AM) Yea, but it's not... Hillary anywhere close to the nomination scares me. So does Obama, but not nearly as bad. Why do you say that? I'm MUCH more scared of Obama than Hillary. All the far righties that McCain might struggle to energize will get a swift kick in the ass if the alternative is Hillary, plus youth and black turnout would be mediocre to horrible since they love Obama and would be discouraged, and McCain would dominate the moderate/independent vote. Hillary is a DREAM opponent for McCain.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Mar 5, 2008 -> 12:54 AM) As a republican this is great. The best result would be if Obama comes out with more delegates. Michigan and Florida are not seated, and Clinton uses the superdelegates to topple the will of the dem party. That would clear a way for McCain to the whitehouse. I am still amazed on how goofy liberal Clinton, the wife of the man who was weak on defense for 8 years, is now a tough person you want in a time of war. Maybe she can learn from her husband and blow up a tent in the middle of the desert with a 2 million dollar Tomahawk Cruise Missle. Her on the job training was sleeping next to the president for 8 years. Maybe she received the knowledge via Osmosis. ^^^^ What he said.
-
To say tonight was a good night for the GOP would be a vast understatement. McCain is official, and the dems are back into 2 candidate quagmire mode, with Hillary back in it.
-
Democrats DO know that Hillary would lose in November, whereas Obama would be a very likely favorite......don't they? I'm not the biggest electability guy, but when it's THIS obvious, I would think people would take heed. People can say what they will about the women vote, but Clinton WOULD NOT beat McCain, and I think Obama would be in very good shape against him.
-
I'm not good enough at math to figure out numbers, but momentum has been so important on the DEM side, and Clinton cleary has it after tonight, which is why to me it feels like the race is a 2 candidate quagmire again. Plus, I saw 3/5 to 2/3 of voters who decided in the last 3 days that voted tonight overall voted for Hillary, that has to be a big concern for Obama.

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Mar 4, 2008 -> 12:43 AM) The Democratic Party better hope it learned from 2004. Just as the only way they could lose in 2004 was a ticket of Kerry/Edwards, the only way they can lose in 2008 is if they let the whiner back into the race tomorrow. I hope the history of democratic self-destruction continues tomorrow, but I don't see how it can. Well, I'm very surprised, but it turns out they did let her back in the race tonight, especially if she stays even/slightly ahead on the Texas primary. What a mistake. Obama still has the lead after tonight (I think), but Clinton could have been buried tonight, and instead Obama's campaign has really pissed down it's own leg the last week.

Official Recruiting Thread II

WOW I can't believe Bloom won that game, or moreso that H-F lost it. I know it was on Bloom's home floor (which is completely unfair to do to #1 in the state), but still. Whitney Young also took out OPRF and Iman Shumpert, and get Mt. Carmel or De La Salle next. D.J. Richardson and Peoria lost by 16 to Washington, Marshal won easy, Simeon won big, and North Lawndale and Peoria Manuel advanced to state in 2A. -

This goes back to the old "is it player of the year or MVP" question. If the award is for MVP, I'd agree with Emmenecker, but if this is a player of the year award, I'd have to go with Osiris. -
Singleton is talented, but Steve Stone is the man, the fact that Sox fans are so embracing of a guy that did games on the North Side for over 2 decades would tell you as much. TV on mute, radio for the call is the new style for me this summer.

i wouldn't even wish this on a Cubs player

How exactly do you twist a testicle anyways? I've never heard of that one before, and I hope I never experience it.

QUOTE(kman @ Mar 3, 2008 -> 11:38 PM) Oh my bad, sorry man. it was just a suggestion. ESPN and wikipedia usually do lists of players songs early in the year too.
-
With the combination of new players and a new season meaning some returning ones change songs, this would be a better question to ask in early April after the first home series.

Illinois State is in btw........4-4 vs. top 50 (7-5 vs. top 100), 34th in RPI, 7-7 in road/neutral, 8-3 OOC, 7-3 in last 10, 21-8 overall.....they are for sure in right now. Only way they could be out is a 1st game loss in St. Louis. -

Osiris Eldridge is awesome, I saw him play a lot at Phillips and wanted Illinois to offer him, but then again i'm kind of crazy. And I'm not sure what mojo Indiana lost, their defense has been a joke all year and their record is due to a horrible out of conference schedule and playing teams that can't score within their league. White and Gordon are great offensive players, but emphasis on offensive. They'll fit right in in the NBA. -
I have never seen a quarter worse than the Bulls 3rd quarter performance tonight vs. the Wizards. If they weren't dead before, they are now.

1. Brewers 2. Reds 3. Cubs 4. Cardinals 5. Astros 6. Pirates That is your final 2008 NL Central standings, much to fathom's dismay. Rich Hill is a guy who had a career year in his late 20's, not a pitcher coming into his prime, Marquis sucks, Dempster never could start, and Lilly will come back to earth. Combine that with no CF, a HORRIBLE defensive OF, and a bullpen by commitee (as Ed Farmer says, bullpen by commitee means your bullpen sucks), and they are in deep doo doo. Plus, Milwaukee will be better and Cincy has just so much young talent, even Dusty can run that to 2nd in baseball's worst division.
