The age would HAVE to be 21. You can argue it whatever way you wish on pot vs. alcohol, but you can't allow people to legally smoke pot before they can legally drink alcohol, that'd just be ridiculous and I doubt they'll ever lower the drinking age. As for part 3 of this poll, it's up to the parents on a case by case basis IMO.

QUOTE(Alpha Dog @ Mar 12, 2008 -> 01:01 PM) No, you totally avoided the whole point. Why can't they just state the affiliation up front, all the time, and eliminate any b****ing by one side or the other? Are all their 'D' keys broken? Ignored the point? It's one article!! And as for my affiliation, I'm voting for McCain and have been a supporter of his for about a year now in this race. That doesn't change the fact that the never-ending whining of media bias from the far right is just sad.

The defense first style does not work unless you have a DOMINANT defensive player inside (Ben Wallace, circa 2004 and 2005), or a DOMINANT offensive player inside (Tim Duncan). The only real exception to that rule I've seen lately is the 2007 Cavs, who narrowly won maybe the worst conference in NBA history (the 2007 East, only better than the 2008 East) with a transcent postseason from an all time great player on the wing. It's all fine and good if the Bulls want to play a slow down, defensive style. Problem is, they don't have anything more than average (at best) interior players, both on offense and defense. If the Bulls want to win anytime soon at all, they need to speed the game up, and use their youth and athleticism to get on the run. I'm still not sure if the Bulls have enough consistent scoring to do that, but it's the best option right now IMO, especially since they aren't going to get a top 10 pick, and thus likely won't get any sort of dominant player in the draft.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Mar 12, 2008 -> 12:38 PM) With a more mobile population there is very little difference between the people living in the north and south. I can tell immediately if someone was raised in the north or south. The southern raised person will have more formal manners. They will address elders with a Mr. or Mrs. and say yes sir or yes man, hold doors and push in chairs. I think the population in Texas and Florida is very mobile, and very different from the rest of the south (especially in Florida). But in places like Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee, Louisiana, etc.......it's like a different world from the north.

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Mar 12, 2008 -> 12:31 PM) I dont know that a master motivator will be completely necassary next year, as I think we are going to be seeing a lot more turnover on the roster than previously expected. Of the current roster, who do you really expect to be on the Bulls for the first game? I doubt we will see Duhon, Gordon, possibly Deng, Thomas has been in many rumors, as has Nocioni. The type of team assembled will determine the type of coach necessary IMO. Amen on the bolded. Although, I only HOPE your right about the turnover. However, I don't trust John Paxson, who overevaluates his own talent more than any GM I have ever seen, and could keep most of the roster even though he shouldn't. I think Gordon and Duhon especially HAVE to be gone though, but Duhon gets no run anymore, so that doesn't mean much.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Mar 12, 2008 -> 12:29 PM) Fine. We'll agree to disagree. But for the record, I have seen quite a few condescending remarks toward southern Americans on this sight. The type of remarks that you so called righteous and superior (that's the attitude I refering to) northerners would jump on your soapbox over if the same type of stereotypical remark was made against any of a number of minorities. I'll be more diligent about pointing them out in the future. That's fine. I actually think southern people are generally MUCH kinder than us up here in the colder, siberian type regions. This, along with waffle houses, are two reasons I enjoy my time in the southland. I'm sure there are a lot of remarks made towards southerners around here though. I honestly don't really have any problems with the south. Even in the case of standing by my accounts of race in the south, the south has really had much less time to improve it's racial relations than the north with the roots in the civil war and the 60's riots and such being most based in the south. So even in standing by what I said about it being more racist in the south, I would also counter my own statement by saying there has been tenfold more race relations improvement in the south than in the north since, say, 1970. It wouldn't surprise me either if a generation from now, when i'm in my mid 40's, if the north is eventually more racist, because as the generations go by, the south is improving in this department moreso than the north. It's just right now I think what I think, in large part because the north had a huge head start going back generations to improve race relations. But maybe if I had clarified it in this way at the start, it wouldn't have hit a nerve with you, even if you disagree with me.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 12, 2008 -> 08:36 AM) If a game last night doesn't tell you that the Bulls have been dogging it for 90% of this season, I don't know what will. They should all be embarassed by how pathetic they have played this year, compared to how they could have been playing. They don't deserve to make the playoffs. You summed up an entire Bulls sentence, with 100 percent accuracy and inclusion, in a matter of 3 sentences. Well done. Also, with your comments in mind, it's clear whoever the Bulls hire as coach needs to be a master motivator. Something as simple as a swift kick in the ass that gets them to play harder would make the Bulls significantly better. I must say I agree with all of this as well.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Mar 12, 2008 -> 12:20 PM) Damn right I believe it. And that arrogance is not something to be proud of. Well racism is all about the perspective of the viewee, so I will respectfully agree to disagree. I think both sides in such a debate can see it totally different and, in all honesty, be right in their own way. However, if your saying southern people are just, in general much more kind and understanding whereas northerners are loud and arrogant, that I believe to be unquestionably right. That's just a general culture difference though, as the fact that I am proud of it makes obvious.

QUOTE(Alpha Dog @ Mar 12, 2008 -> 08:28 AM) Did I saythey re given a free pass? if that were so, the story would be buried on page 9 the second day. You know as well as I that half the damn country doesn't pay attention at all to politics other than what the TV or newspapers tell them, especially as it gets closer to election time. So if the average dumbass voter only can recall seeing R in all the news stories about bad things, and no D's, that just my color their perception come election time. If the Dems are so squeeky f***ing clean, then just report the things as they happen and there is no story, no 'conspiracy'. But maybe subconsciously some reporters just can't take that chance. Why is it so damn hard to just note the damn affiliation with the name? Can you answer that one simple question? I'll just get to the question in this rant, and the point of it. If you really think the networks are going out of their way just to note the affiliation of one party and not the other in sex scandals, your giving them way too much credit and thinking they are way smarter then they are.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Mar 12, 2008 -> 11:22 AM) Amen. There's an arrogance that is pervasive in the north. There is certainly as much as if not more racism there than there is here in the south. And I've been in every southern state but South Carolina and Louisiana. I would hope you don't actually think this. Well not so much that arrogance is pervasive in the north, because it is and we are proud of it, but I would just hope you don't actually believe there is as much if not more racism in the north, because that might be as ridiculous as it is inaccurate. And I've been in every southern state as well except for North and South Carolina.

QUOTE(Athomeboy_2000 @ Mar 11, 2008 -> 08:18 PM) I think it is HIGHLY unfortunate that the deep south is still so racist. It's staggering the Black/White divide in the south. I am glad to see Obama win these mostly white states, but it kinda hurts to see him win these southern states with such a divide. Just goes to show that after nearly 143 years, there is still such rampid if not secret racism. Yeah, McCain might not even have to campaign in the south to win those states when you consider the fear that even white democrats down there seem to have of Obama, and that's sad, even as a guy that is going to vote for McCain. But when you keep in mind that schools weren't fully integrated until less than 40 years ago there, it's not surprising, that isn't THAT long of a time.

The Republican pity party and b****ing over a media witch hunt, and seeming feeling that democrats are given a total free pass during sex scandals, whle republicans are burned at the stake, is truly embarassing. I've just been shocked at the fact that seemingly the entire party is using Spitzer as a target of opportunity to cry like babies over media coverage, and it's pretty pathetic.

QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Mar 12, 2008 -> 12:16 AM) Right now, Nash > deron. What he can do on offense outshines deron's clear advantage on D. He is that system. And deron is surrounded with better talent than CP3. Sorry guys... And that's not a knock on deron at all. He runs a team better than other premier PGs like Billups, Kidd, and Baron Davis. It's ok, you have the right to be wrong. In all seriousness though, that is where we disagree, I don't have much respect for Nash. I think Billups, Paul, Davis, and Williams are better at PG. Nash is only 5th IMO.

QUOTE(Brian @ Mar 11, 2008 -> 11:53 PM) I hate them. Understandable, that 35 footer might have killed your season. But I enjoy watching them, plus I'm biased because I have a friend that gets decent minutes off the bench for them, so I kind of have to like them. -
So, the Bulls absolutely dominated the Jazz and won by 12 tonight. I'm officially diagnosing this team as bipolar, which is better than the just plain bad they've been most of the year at least.

Everybody on the bubble owes Butler and Western Kentucky a proverbial round of drinks for both winning tonight. Butler is such an enjoyable team to watch. -
Gov. Spitzer (NY - Dem) netted in prostitution ring

QUOTE(Rex Kicka** @ Mar 10, 2008 -> 10:47 PM) Hmmm... the GOP in New York State really really hates Spitzer. Mike Bloomberg gives a large donation to Senate Majority Leader Joe Bruno in Albany. The Feds leak that Spitzer is implicated in a prostitution ring investigation within a week of initial arrests. There's more to this than just prostitution me thinks. This is Joe Bruno being better at Spitzer's game than the Governor ever was. Well I think it's pretty obvious that the GOP in New York and their hate for Spitzer is one of the biggest reasons he got caught. However, it also seems pretty obvious he did it, and to think there is anymore to this than that would be a bit silly. -

QUOTE(whitesoxfan99 @ Mar 10, 2008 -> 09:46 PM) ISU's resume outside of their RPI is pretty bad. They have no good wins and 4 bad losses. Usually not a good combo for a bubble team. However the bubble teams are pretty weak this year so they might still sneak in. I didn't think it would come to this, but ISU ought to start getting nervous. I still think they will make it, but two bubble teams were knocked out tonight with San Diego winning, thus the WCC gets 3, and with South Alabama losing. BTW, how the hell did San Diego, the #3 seed in the WCC, get home court? What an asinine setup, there is no way they win last night if they weren't at home (maybe not even tonight), and this crazy setup knocked a more deserving team out. I enjoy the underdog of course, but that is just dumb. Anyways, more potential danger for bubble teams, as now they want Western Kentucky to win tonight and tomorrow and take the Sun Belt (or else they are another bubble team). Plus, Butler has to win tomorrow or else the Horizon League will get two teams, Kent State has a great shot at an at large if they don't win the MAC, etc etc. It's nuts, maybe all those lousy high major teams on the bubble will be knocked off by some of these mid major upsets. -
QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Mar 10, 2008 -> 09:18 PM) Gotta see how Brand comes back from his injury first. It was a serious one... And CP3 and Nash are better PGs than deron williams... Steve Nash is not as good as Deron Williams. Nash is nothing but a statistically inflated product of his own system, as has been seen with the level of performance by the Suns since the incredibly stupid Shaq trade.

Another new entry to the bubble, as South Alabama suffered a shocking loss to Middle Tennessee State tonight in the Sun Belt semifinals. South Alabama entered the night 26-5, and 24th in the RPI with three top 50 wins, more than quite a few fellow bubble teams. Just another team for the Ohio State's and Virginia Tech's of the world to worry about, and in fact, South Alabama has a far better resume than both of those teams, or an Illinois State and St. Mary's. To me, South Alabama's resume should definitely get them in (It's much better than fellow Sun Belt team Western Kentucky, who Lunardi has as one of the first four out), but you never know since the whole "conference affiliation doesn't matter" stuff is BS from the committee. -

QUOTE(Jimbo's Drinker @ Mar 10, 2008 -> 01:04 PM) Interesting games tonight. If San Diego wins, does the WCC get 3 teams in? Does William and Mary win their conference? If San Diego wins, the WCC gets 3 bids and somebody on the bubble loses their spot, just as sombody loses their spot if Elon beats Davidson or Cleveland State beats Butler, which would give the SoCon and Horizon League 2 bids instead of 1. Also, there will be a lot of Kent State fans during the MAC tournament, and I'm sure there is another case or two of this I'm forgetting. You simply can't keep Gonzaga, St. Mary's, Butler, or Davidson out of the tournament. I can't see Bill and Mary beating a veteran team like George Mason in a game that important though. -
Kansas or Texas can play into the #1 seed in the midwest with a tournament victory. If they both lose, God only knows what'll happen to the #1 seed in the midwest. On a side note, Dickie V said saturday that Jon Scheyer is the best 6th man in the nation. Doesn't Kansas bring Sherron Collins off the bench? If so, that would go into the archive of dumb things Dookie V has uttered, as Collins is obviously better in his sleep than Scheyer is on his best day.

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 10, 2008 -> 02:44 PM) Clinton realizes it too. That's why she keeps bringing this up - trying to look maternal and in control. Nobody out there is actually dumb enough to buy that, are they?

QUOTE(Rex Kicka** @ Mar 10, 2008 -> 02:42 PM) Drinks aren't free, ya know. Yeah yeah, I know. You know what I meant, although the point in doctor's post is a prime example why drinking in moderation is a good idea.
