QUOTE(Shadows @ Feb 14, 2008 -> 09:34 PM) Yessssssssss!!!! Still no failed test eat s*** Bonds haters.. Barry is the man!! lol, only took two weeks for this to be exposed as the stupid and ignorant lie it is. We have positive tests in 2001 and 2003 now, if you want to ignore it, fine. But Bonds is not clean, or the man.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Feb 28, 2008 -> 04:36 PM) Every DT in the NFL's new best friend. Fixed. That might be the most shocking contract I've ever seen though, that much for that guy?? -
QUOTE(Controlled Chaos @ Feb 28, 2008 -> 08:22 PM) I think the biggest problem is the 70% out of wedlock birth rate. I'd agree in an economic sense, not many out of wedlock babies grow up around a ton of money. These stats don't surprise me though, the term "white collar crime" is rare, and for the most part, the poor go to jail, and as much as it's supposedly "racist" to say, a lot more blacks are poor and/or stuck in crappy inner city areas than whites. Meanwhile, Drew Peterson continues to run free....

This was a big error by Peters and Blago (surprise, surprise on the 2nd count). The building needs a MAJOR interior revitilization (it's a hole in there, falling apart big time), but the exterior is fine and it doesn't need to be torn down. The interior needs to be remodeled and reshaped to not look like the ghosts of Cole Hall past, but that would cost WAY WAY less than 40 million dollars to do, even with a very nice memorial in mind. I don't get it, plus keep in mind we raised nearly 8 million dollars for the new athletic center at Huskie Stadium, I'm sure we could raise far more than that for the cause of a state of the art, re-done on the interior Cole Hall.

McFadden ran a 4.27 and 4.33 today, and Mendenhall ran a 4.37 and 4.43. If there were any doubts who the top 2 RB's were, in that order, that should about end the debate. I didn't see this, but apparently the kid from ECU ran a 4.25 -

Per Bob Sakamoto's blog at chicago sports, Jereme Richmond has been kicked off the Waukegan team. It is widely recognized he'll be at Evanston next year, but what a douche. It takes a hell of an effort of being a bad person to be kicked off a team. -
QUOTE(Brian @ Feb 22, 2008 -> 10:06 PM) I saw the same thing. May not of been their decision, but they should of been on the bench none the less. All of the physicals must be completed before a trade can be official, and they weren't, so nobody in that trade could play tonight. The Bulls guys didn't take their physicals until like 5 this evening, and I'm not even sure if the new Seattle or Cleveland guys took them today.

The Bulls traded for him on July 13th, 2006 and then traded him away July 19th........hard to be an asshole and make people believe you don't want to be somewhere in under a week.

QUOTE(Cerbaho-WG @ Feb 22, 2008 -> 07:10 PM) This is absolute bulls*** and you know it. Are all of the Ivy League schools good because of their prestigious sports teams? Does Cal Berkeley, any private liberal arts college, or even IU offer a great education because of sports? No, it's because former alumni donate to the school. Hell, the Kelley School of Business at IU pulls in tens of millions of dollars without any help of the basketball team. Hearing your asinine argument just wants me to have colleges abandon sports altogether and focus on education like they should. Universities were created to learn, not so you can play sports. You've neard heard the saying that athletics are the front porch of a university I'm guessing. It's a good saying, because although the front porch doesn't make the house, just as the sports program doesn't make the university, everybody sees it people will often judge it based upon what the front porch looks like because people are judgemental. While I agree that sports are way down on the totem pole of importance in academia, to say they aren't a factor is just inaccurate. The 2003 NIU football season led to the school having double the applications sent for enrollment as the school has ever seen. President Peters even admitted the success of the football team during that timespan of about 2002-2006 did a lot for the growth of the university, and in the last five years funding for ALL programs here has risen exponentially, leading to the building of several new facilities such as the Barsema Alumni Hall and the Yordon Center, which is mostly centered on academics for athletes in fact. I see your point that Ivy league schools don't need athletics, but most schools aren't Ivy League schools, and I'd be willing to guess that you could find a lot of stories similar to NIU in which the revitilization of the athletic program turned out to be quite fruitful for the school. So, with that said, to dismiss the post you quoted so vehimately is inaccurate. College sports probably shouldn't matter that much, but they do. -
The J.R. Smith for Adrian Griffin trade was just such an incredibly awful trade, Pax doesn't get nearly the blame he deserves for that nonsense. Fun game tonight though, between that one and Phoenix/L.A. a few days ago, that's 2 of the better displays of offensive basketball I've seen in a long time.

Well it seems clear a buyout negotiation is going on, but wow IU has handeled this poorly. I would assume the school will suspend the players that skipped out today, I mean if they were too busy to go to practice, I would imagine they won't have time to play this weekend. Plus, IU would beat NW with 7 guys anyways. EDIT: Sampson has signed a $750,000 settlement, and is officially out, per the Score. Now, will the walkout happen? And if not, will they just let all the guys that skipped practice play? -

QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Feb 21, 2008 -> 10:34 PM) Your bias is just so apparent. This comment is pathetic and out of control: Appreciate the contribution and wish him the best, and will support him in any way we can regarding his future at another university. What are you talking about? You did read the quote didn't you? He pretty much calls him lazy and says he was stubborn for not redshirting and basically says he's being a baby not getting into shape. I'd like to see Weber's dumbass get into shape with post concussion, seeing the person that put him into that state get preferential treatment. And I know the comments were Monday, but Weber knew the transfer was coming weeks ago, just like fathom and everybody else did. -

QUOTE(Jenksismyb**** @ Feb 21, 2008 -> 01:29 PM) OMG! The truth! What an ass! You do know Carlwell still suffers effects from the crash that nearly killed him, in large part due to the slow response time to the accident thanks to his "teammate" deciding he didn't need to call 911, but rather call Wayne McClain and let the neighbor call 911, don't you? Bruce Weber's comments on Carlwell were kind of like the program he runs, pathetic and out of control. -
Pardon me, but this trade didn't really do much. Getting rid of Ben Wallace is GREAT, but Simmons and Brown are meh, Gooden is just a serviceable guy that bounces around the league, and Larry Hughes makes Mark Prior look like a tough guy. Now, if Hughes can stay healthier and prove to be a legit 2 guard on both ends of the floor (which Ben Gordon isn't), that makes it a big plus and Gordon is gone. But otherwise, this trade is just crap for crap, although Big Ben being gone is great news.

Ahh the black shirts were due to the one year anniversary of the Chief's last dance. About as much a waste of time as the game was. -
In Toronto's win over Orlando tonight, Bosh and Howard combined for 77 points on 27 of 32 shooting.

What a fantastic game in Phoenix, but the Lakers just too good fro the Suns. Phoenix ends up 1-3 against LA, 0-2 in Phoenix, and their only win was a close game after Bynum was hurt and before Gasol arrived. Lakers have to be the favorites in the West right now, despite the fact that everybody will use the "Shaq isn't in sync with the Suns" excuse I'm sure on the boo yah network. He had 15 and 9 though, L.A. is just a better team.

Why so many black shirts in the orange krush tonight? Looked like almost half of the students had black chief tees on, I don't think I've ever seen that. Anyways, it was a loss both of talent and karma tonight. When the perpetrator of a felony that led to a teammate getting critically injured lasts longer in a program than the said injured teammate, you deserve bad things to happen to your program. Thanks Bruce Weber. And in other news, people are finally seeing the very obvious way to beat Duke. Collins and Asbury at the forwards with 26 and 15 tonight (although McClinton was good in the backcourt as well), the game after Skeen had 10 and 9 and Johnson had 24 and 16 (although again, Teague was really good with 26). If your patient with the bigs and have one good guard, Duke is very beatable. I would be shocked if they get past the Sweet 16, and that win probably got DA U in the dance. -
QUOTE(mr_genius @ Feb 19, 2008 -> 08:57 PM) Actually, I thought it was a good speech. Better than Obama's speech for the first time. Barrack's delivery and constant 'change' stuff is getting a bit stale. You saw tonight why Obama uses that stuff so much tonight, when he did talk on the issues. He's a lefter than left liberal, and if he makes the mistake he did tonight of going to the issues much more often, he will get his rear end kicked by McCain among independents, which would make this a very close election.

Sadly, that Bulls analysis is dead on. Here is my question of the night, which astonishing record has a better chance of falling: the 1995-1996 Chicago Bulls going 72-10, or the 1972-1973 Philadelphia 76ers going 9-73?

The UEFA stuff, especially as you move into the knockout round, is really fun to watch, I must admit. However, Internazionale fans should be pissed. The two yellow cards against the guy that got kicked out were both quick (within the first 25 minutes of the game IIRC), and neither was even worthy of a card, even the announcers were ripping on it. But as a result, it's 11 on 10 the rest of the game and Liverpool just wore them down, leading to the events of the last 10 minutes. I hate when refs play a large part in the results of games. -
You are correct on all counts, I knew it was built in the 50's or 60's, but there have been 3 or 4 alterations of the building on that site since the school opened in the 1890's, as far as I'm aware. In other news, what has been clear to us hear in DeKalb almost since it happened is now being admitted by the investigators: the sicko did all he could to hide any signs of a motive. http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/c...0,2846139.story I take back feeling bad for the girlfriend after reading this information. The news of him hiding the computer hard drive had been known almost since the beginning, but I wasn't aware he removed his cell phone chip (don't even know how you would go at doing that). One thing is clear though, the fact he did all of this to hide a motive, as well as drove up here to do the shooting, proves there clearly was a blatant motive. And that last setence, in bold, is another case of burying the lead. Who was the girl at the back of the auditorium? Why did the writer just randomly mention it in the last sentence? This girlfriend, between the CNN interview and now this, must be considered at least suspecious.

I'd like to see 3 points for a true OT or regulation win, none for a true OT or regulation loss, 2 points for a shootout win, and 1 for a shootout loss. This would better reward the winner, admit the shootout is flawed and for the fans, and not reward a team for losing within 5 minutes in a 4 on 4 format, which I don't like. I'd actually like to see OT go back to regular 5 on 5 too. None of any of that will ever happen, but that's my $0.02. -

Well the Big 10 is not overrated, if I said it was it was bad verbage on my part (although I don't think I said it was). My only point is the Big 10 is not very good, at all. To say the Big 10 is overrated would imply there are people who think it is really good, and I haven't seen those people. You are right about the Wisconsin vs. Purdue game though, it was VERY strange, but all I can go on was I watched the whole thing and Purdue led almost throughout at a place nobody wins, which is impressive whether the game was weird or normal.
