Gov. Spitzer (NY - Dem) netted in prostitution ring
whitesoxfan101 replied to sox4lifeinPA's topic in The Filibuster
QUOTE(thedoctor @ Mar 10, 2008 -> 02:37 PM) well, it's the same overriding logic that makes you go home with the unattractive girl at the end of the night. sometimes being horny makes you do dumb things, damn the consequences. Ehhh that's not even a good comparison. The ugly girl at the bar doesn't cost money, plus isn't nearly as likely to have any sort of STD's. Well, the yahoo story said that this prostitution "company" (I guess you'd call it that), rated it's prostitutes from 1 to 7 diamonds, with 7 diamond girls costing the most money. Maybe he was getting those girls. -
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080310/ap_on_el_pr/obama_ticket Obama basically saying "hell no" to the idea of being VP to a ticket with Clinton as president. Apparently, unlike Clinton, Obama realizes he still is the leader and favorite overall in the race for the democratic nominee.

Isn't this guy one of the original ones who had the brilliant plan to give illegal immigrants drivers licenses? Yeah, nothing could go wrong there. -

It never ceases to amaze me how absolutely stupid people are. For anybody with as much power as Spitzer, and especially somebody who gained their power basically by getting rid of stuff like this, to allow themself to get caught in a prostitution ring, wow. I will never understand how some peoples minds work. -
Nobody has an easy road on a bracket that tough, but I think the matchups are condusive for UConn to do very well.

Ben Gordon and Duhon and Shannon Brown all seen laughing and having a good time as tonight's loss wrapped up. I mean, we know they don't care and Paxson's "high character" team is actually full of a bunch of slugs who don't care, but it's pretty pathetic to see it like that.

Rough break for the Illini, Penn State is a far better team than Iowa. Iowa and Michigan might be the worst game I've ever seen in a Big 10 tournament. Not that it matters, no matter what happens, Purdue and Wisconsin should win big in their 1st games. Penn State is the only team of any note there, and the Big 10 tournament isn't in Happy Valley.

QUOTE(thedoctor @ Mar 9, 2008 -> 08:49 AM) either way, 2011 is the next class that illinois will have available scholarships for, barring transfer. they could have up to six openings that year. Correct, they have six openings for the class of 2011 as of now, and none before that due to the JUCO Keller jumping on last week. One more spot will up for 2012, where as of now, Stan Simpson would be the only senior (but that's not for sure, he might redshirt). Also, one spot is open for next year only due to Randle being a 5th year senior, so Trent will likely be put on scholarship for his senior year, which is nice since he has earned that this year. -
This is going to lead back to the Big 10 network b****ing I believe, with 3 games on it. In all seriousness though, this is as weak as I can remember the Big 10 being, so this tournament could be wild.

By defending their homecourt against Purdue and Michigan State, the Buckeyes have played their way back firmly onto the bubble. The question is if this is too little, too late. They need to beat Michigan State again in the 4/5 game on Friday to get to 20 wins overall IMO. If they can do that, then the Bucks have a shot. -

Quite a few good performances by Lalime got the Hawks back into it, but one terrible one might have just knocked them out of it. Ouch, I mean 1 point is better than none, but this is one of their very few games left against a mediocre opponent, so you needed 2 badly. -

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Mar 9, 2008 -> 04:23 PM) 2-2 = deadly? Unless you include the shootout -- they pwn nasty-style in the shootout. Yeah I edited it, that's what I meant. -

OT, and Edmonton is deadly in the shootout. One point isn't good enough, gotta get something done here. -

Kentucky beats Florida by 5. To me, that was a quasi-play in game, and Kentucky is in and Florida out as of now. The Gators are going to regret blowing that huge lead on their home floor to Tennessee. -

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Mar 9, 2008 -> 09:19 AM) Rumor is that Pitino kind of wants Kuric to decommit. Of course, you gotta take some of those salukitalk rumors with a grain of salt, but its been talked about a lot on that board My favorite is when I told somebody that posts there that their rumor that Bertrand committed was BS, and that Illinois was actually the heavy favorite (seeing as I actually know Bertrand) and they told me they have better sources than I do. -

Anybody watching this Kentucky/Florida game? It seems like Kentucky hasn't missed but a coule of shots all half, it's incredible. If they win this game and their first game in the SEC Tournament, I think they'll, amazingly, get in the tournament. And Heads, come on, your smarter than that. I know your frusterated, but to take POY away from a guy because he had 15 points, 9 rebounds, and 2 blocks in a road win within conference is ridiculous. -

QUOTE(danman31 @ Mar 8, 2008 -> 10:00 PM) Illinois State a lock after a solid performance today? They were a lock after the win Friday imo, but today for sure locked it up. Both teams in the title game tomorrow are locks even if they lose, while Creighton prays for a bit of luck to get the 3rd bid from The Valley (but I wouldn't bet on that). -

To hold Duke to 33.8 percent from the field and 68 points is just phenominal. Their starting 5 is still way undersized, but if UNC is willing to commit on defense like they did tonight to go with their firepower, they are the clear favorite to win it all. -

Marty Booker, Brandon Lloyd sign with Bears
whitesoxfan101 replied to EvilJester99's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
They played a clip today on the score of Lloyd in a conference call saying how he was told Rex is the starter and the team still has a lot of faith in him and all that. LOL, the Bears caught in a lie once again, open competition my ass. Turner, of course, later came on that same conference call in which Lloyd said this and said Lloyd was mistaken and both QB's have a shot, but you know Lloyd was just caught telling the media what his former college coach told him. The Bears are just so damn stupid, and they then try and lie to us and expect us to believe it. Get ready for another year of Rex. -

USC's home win over Stanford and Baylor's win at Texas Tech pretty much locked those two teams into the big dance IMO. On a side note, with Wisconsin's win today, at least part 1 of Indiana's big gamble in doing nothing to themselves sanctionwise other than "buying out" Sampson has fallen by the wayside, which was trying to gain a share of the Big Ten regular season title. Still a long way to go with all that though in the big picture, and congrats to Wisconsin. I'd have never guessed in a million years they'd win the league in undisputed fashion for the 18 game regular season grind portion this year, even with the league as down as it is. -

Even though I'm back home for spring break, I'm going to have to consider driving the hour back to campus Tuesday night for this supersectional doubleheader: Joseph Bertrand and Sterling vs. Matt Roth and Washington, followed by Zion-Benton and Elgin. Then again, I'm much closer to Chicago State and Hoffman Estates right now and those are good too. Going to be some great supersections, and I can't believe the run Mt. Carmel capped off in their sectional last night by beating Whitney Young. Wow. -

QUOTE(The Critic @ Mar 7, 2008 -> 09:17 PM) Lalime gives up a softie right there. 3-2 Sharks. It was a softie, but Seabrook made an AWFUL defensive play or else Marleau doesn't even get the puck. Between that weak sauce goal, and the heartbreaking appeared tying goal which was actually an illegal swat......very rough loss.
