QUOTE(Kalapse @ Sep 6, 2007 -> 05:33 PM) So how long do they wait before they make the movie? Marmol to closer? It's not the slam dunk everybody thinks when you consider that before today, Dempster had saved 14 in a row, plus how are we sure Marmol will handle the move well? I've seen young guys with great stuff in relief move to closer and have issues many a time before, not everybody can be Bobby Jenks.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Sep 6, 2007 -> 05:16 PM) Well fair enough but I've heard other things and I still think SIU has a lead here. Not what it was before hand but we'll see. JB is visiting Champaign with Diamond Taylor this weekend so we'll see what happens. I like Bruce more than most Illinois fans but I'll still take my chances with Lowery here in a battle between him and Bruce. Should be interesting, we'll see what happens. Oh if you were asking me to guess where he's going, I would tell you SIU while Taylor is going to Illinois. I'm just saying it's basically dead even right now, and the visit to Champaign might decide it. Oh, and dont ask me when I have friends and family in Sterling effin Illinois, but I do, so there ya go on Bertrand. -

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Sep 6, 2007 -> 05:06 PM) Last month I said in here that Bertrand to SIU was a done deal. I'm never going to say anything is a done deal from now on until the LOI is signed. SIU still leads for Bertrand but it looks like we might get a recruting battle between CLo and Bruce. Yeah whoever gave you the Bertrand info, while I believe is a trusted source, had bad info on Bertrand. It's been an even battle between SIU and Illinois for several months now, and probably will remain that way until signing day. Unless of course, Bertrand is lying to my face when I talk to him about it. So yeah, in this case, I REALLY trust my source. -
Rick Ankiel Today: 3 for 4 with a walk, 3 run home run, 2 run home run, 2 run double, 4 runs scored, and 7 RBI. And it's in the 6th and 14-3 btw.

QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ Sep 6, 2007 -> 04:36 PM) Reading the gamecast it sounds like the 9th of that game was as badly played by the defense. Looked like one ball was hit hard, the homer which could have been wind aided Lee had a ball hit the edge of his glove, but it was eventually ruled a hit (correctly), however it was not hit hard. Then, Ethier's home run was DEFINITELY wind aided. But Dempster got what he deserved and here is why: Martin single: 0-2 pitch Loney single: 0-2 pitch Ethier homer: 0-1 pitch (on a belt high, down the middle pitch) Sweeney single: 0-2 pitch That is incredibly bad pitching ahead in the count, as bad as I've ever seen.
-
Andre Ethier, you are my hero sir. Typical Cubbie September loss, what a kick in the balls. Outstanding.

Oneli not being with the club is incredibly shockingly stupid, even for us, since he's on the 40. And the fact that Bourgeois isn't here, yet Cintron, Gonzalez, Pods, and Erstad are tells you all you need to know about our GM (he's an idiot).
-
That 9th inning was laughable. I can't really blame Jenks, because if Richar and Cintron can both make plays that were merely slightly tougher than average, we win the game. Ah well, doesn't matter though, but it's a shame we wasted another great Buehrle outing.

Mike Hart is the Steve McNair of college football in the sense that he is hurt prone, but not injury prone. Everybody talks about how tough he is all the time and such, but he always has some sort of thing hurting him that causes the talk, meaning he really is rarely healthy and thus rarely playing at his peak abilities. -

Weber's job isn't actually in jeopardy until he starts losing and missing the tournament, but that will begin this season so in a sense give it several months and he's in trouble. Also, Watkins will never make it anywhere near campus, so don't hold your breath, and the Jereme Richmond de-commit is coming any day now. -

Through a brilliant idea combined with awesome friends, I shall be at Illinois vs. Wisconsin, in the student section, at student price. I am pretty damn excited, great way to make up for the fact NIU only has 1 home game in a month during that period of time, so now I have another game to go to. -

The basketball recruiting disasters never cease to amaze me. Now Richmond?? Wow. Although, my actual school (NIU) is probably going to get a verbal from Tyler Storm within the next week or two, and he's pretty damn good, so I'm really happy about that. -
This season isn't his fault, but it's still clear he's an atrocious manager, a nutcase, and is managing a team with the 2nd worst record in baseball. An extension now is beyond crazy.

QUOTE(Brian @ Sep 4, 2007 -> 07:08 PM) Finally sucked it up and watch the game since I taped it. Appy State is f*cking good. They could beat a lot of D1 schools. Very fast and touch to tackle. There isn't a top 50 team App State should beat. Ever. Yeah they are fast, but they are also undersized and have no depth. If Michigan had played 3 deep all game and ran Hart 40 times, they win going away. But LLoyd did his thing, and they lost. And it's not only right they aren't ranked, they shouldn't have got a single vote in the poll. If you can't beat a 1-AA team at home, get out of the rankings period. Oh, and Weis is nuts to put the golden boy in this kinda spot, he's going to get his balls knocked off at Happy Valley against a vastly superior team in maybe the most difficult enviornment in college football. Give a true frosh QB his first start in that kinda situation? Yikes. -

That video just reminds me how supposedly NIU is the 5th best team in the MAC West, yet the great CMU got blown out 51-7 at Kansas, Toledo got pantsed at home I believe 52-17 to Purdue, WMU gave up 62 points (to West Virginia, but still) and Ball State lost at home to Miami of Ohio who went 2-10 last year. At least my squad put up a fight against a good team and showed a defense, lol. -
Haeger was able to finish with an ERA of basically 4 even, yet went 5-16, rough luck. And I really like Miranda, hopefully he starts at W-S next year, and Oneli better start at Charlotte at least, if not with a chance to make the MLB pen.
-
All the walks and inconsistent work at Charlotte tells me Lance isn't ready, but hopefully I'm wrong. And glad to see Heath get a chance.

Almost all the fans period, NIU and Iowa, were alumni's Saturday. The ticket prices and distribution, even towards both schools students, made it clear that both parties considered this an alumni gathering session in their largest alumni base city. The only reason I even was able to get tix is my Dad is an NIU alum actually . -

Christensen is awful, the Iowa WR's are more awful, but their TE's, OL, and entire defense are all really good. Should be a pretty good team, but I thought we played pretty well on defense, we should be fine in the MAC. And damn, I thought Illinois was going to pull it out, but they should be pretty good in the long term. And it was about 2/3 Iowa fans today at Soldier Field, but they were so drunk and tired from the Cubs game the day before that they weren't very loud. At least I'm not a Michigan fan though, maybe they will finally fire that idiot Carr. -

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Aug 30, 2007 -> 11:02 PM) Bret Meyer sucks an immense amount of balls. I don't know if I've ever seen a four year starter get this much worse. Chris Rix and Reggie Ball say hi, but I think Meyer might be in 3rd place in that category. -

Kent State is MUCH improved this year and has some pretty good talent, with a shot to be right there in the wide open MAC East race. With that said, to lose 23-14 at home to Kent State in your opener (it's now a final) is NOT GOOD AT ALL for Iowa State. Wow. -

HAHAHA, Andy Gonzalez at 3rd rules. Throws it over PK's head, throw it short of PK, had an error last night. How long will this useless experiment last?
