QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Feb 10, 2011 -> 12:23 PM) When did dog fighting and hunting get confused here. The problem is not that Mike Vick killed dogs, welfare agencies do this everyday. It was the malicious manner in which he breed the dogs to kill for sport, oh and for money. Buehrle hunts. Last I saw this was legal in this country so he is fine doing it. The man is entitled to his opinion and he gave it. I don't think anybody is questioning hunting being legal or dog fighting being illegal. But the fact is, Michael Vick and Mark Buehrle both have killed animals for sport so Buehrle doesn't have much ground to stand on here. Just because we as humans like dogs more than deers and have them as pets doesn't change that. Love the guy, but he shouldn't have said this.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Feb 5, 2011 -> 11:19 AM) Well, you're wrong. I know it's hard to comprehend that people can have different tastes than your own, but such a concept does exist. I like how you rip on him for ignoring the fact that people can have different tastes even though you also are ignoring the fact that people can have different tastes by saying he's wrong. Stay consistent?

I'm also not a fan of coffee, and am REALLY glad to see there are people who agree with me on the subject. Also, I think Krush is dead on about some people drinking coffee for show.

QUOTE (Brian @ Feb 4, 2011 -> 06:24 PM) Gonna watch some local kids for Fairfield, Needham and Nickerson, tonight on ESPNU. Yes, I have no life. Haha I'm glad I'm not the only one who does stuff like this. Was a big fan of Nickerson at Waukegan, and Fairfied is a very good team this year. -
Sox have been trying to extend Danks for 2.5 years
whitesoxfan101 replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Yeah I'd be pretty surprised if Danks is still here after he becomes free agency eligible. Whether or not we trade him or let it go all the way to his free agency and risk losing him for draft picks probably depends on how well the team is playing late in his contract. -

QUOTE (Sonik22 @ Jan 26, 2011 -> 08:28 PM) This team makes me want to hurt myself. So depressing SIU? They just looked bad from about the 4 minute mark of the first half on, especially for a 8 to 10 minute span starting at said 4 minute mark. Looked like they have never seen a press before. -
QUOTE (NIUSox @ Jan 26, 2011 -> 03:24 PM) I just wanted to start a topic with a Florida city in the title too! Having been to Jacksonville a couple of times, I think the city should actually be in Georgia.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jan 26, 2011 -> 01:23 PM) If Painter was smart, he'd jump ship after this season. Couldn't agree more. They are going to have a major falloff next year, he's just not getting good enough players. And nobody should be surprised when it happens, you could see this coming for a while now. -

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jan 24, 2011 -> 05:21 PM) When it comes down to it, this is exactly what happened. People are just frustrated because as bad as the Bears offense played, the game was really there for the taking against a better team and they still managed to screw some things up to lose it. I think this sums up the non-Cutler feelings of just about every Bears fan perfectly. -
Marian Hossa suffered a grade 2 MCL sprain in game 1 of the SCF vs. the Flyers last year and played through the rest of the series with it. Proof again that the toughest athletes play hockey? And agreed with the above post on Seabrook. He's going to end up with a career high in assists and points, but has just looked awful this year IMO.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jan 24, 2011 -> 02:38 PM) Why doesn't the MRI sound good for the "yeah, he really was injured" group? It confirms that he was injured. We don't know the degree yet. I don't think anybody is arguing against the idea he was injured. Even the players ripping on him knew something was wrong. And the MRI doesn't sound good for that crowd because it certainly doesn't sound like it was a full tear. -
I don't want to listen to the Packers fans. Plus this is the NFL, and every team has their share of bad people on it. So go rapist and unlikable players from Wiz Khalifa town.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jan 24, 2011 -> 02:31 PM) Nothing to back it up? Statements from the coaches saying it was their and the medical staff's decisions. A positive MRI. Cutler's history, or lack thereof, of being soft or weak. What is there to back up questioning his toughness? "Oh, he didn't look injured on the sidelines!" The Bears have to defend him, so take their statements with a grain of salt. Also, the MRI doesn't sound too good for the Cutler couldn't have kept playing crowd. However, Cutler's history of toughness is definitely there though, and I think it's the one thing that is keeping a lot of people like me relatively neutral on the issue, but still questioning what happened. -

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jan 24, 2011 -> 02:29 PM) Like you've already mentioned yourself, his track record speaks for itself. I know it does, which is why I'm not going off like a lot of people. But the more we're finding out about what happened yesterday, that also speaks for itself. And quite frankly, it doesn't speak all that well for Cutler. -

QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Jan 24, 2011 -> 02:25 PM) They are doing a terrible job doing so. I think they are doing this because they are stupid and don't know how, not because they don't want to. Year the Bears are not very good when it comes to PR and press conferences. -

It's hard to gauge Cutler's overall sideline demeanor in terms of talking to Hanie, talking to coaches, trying to help out, interest in the game, etc based on what we saw on camera, because they only can show Jay so much over there, especially when he's hurt. For all we know, he's into the game like no other when he's not on camera, and even if he's not, quite frankly I don't think how much talking an injured QB does impacts the game anyways. The bigger issue here is several quick snapshots of him over there not looking very hurt, and the reports we have on just how much/what kind of medical treatment he was receiving. That's something you can read into moreso IMO. -

QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Jan 24, 2011 -> 02:16 PM) Yes this is basically what Im trying to say. Its not just the "meatball" fans who are curious about why this injury kept him out. The group that is criticizing him more then anyone else are current and former NFL players, some of which have had similar injuries. I wouldnt have expected to hear anything different from the Bears camp but to me it sounds like the coaching staff is covering for him, which they should be. Well the Bears HAVE to cover for him, that's why I was shocked Lovie used the "sprained" verbage in his presser, you have to make this sound as bad as possible without being dishonest. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jan 24, 2011 -> 02:18 PM) It's fine to criticize players and Cutler certainly deserves a ton of it but bashing him for not being tough is ridiculously misguided and to be honest, it's just plain stupid. Bashing him for not being tough is misguided. Questioning it while acting like adults, especially based on what we know now, is fair IMO. I think a lot of the Bears fans being critical of Jay for this before we knew were simply frusterated at losing a Super Bowl spot to the Packers, which is going to happen. But we know a bit more now, so people can look at the situation based on that. -
This is Illinois, and a Chicago related political situation. If Emanuel doesn't end up on the ballot, it's because people in certain places don't want him to.

QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Jan 24, 2011 -> 02:08 PM) A lot of the people who have been on Cutlers side of this have been very critical of the people questioning the injury. However, there is a total flip flop going on in their argument. It started off saying how tough he has been and if he says he is too hurt than we have to take his word for it. Then once the MRI results come back and guys like ptatc are saying that in his opinion its s second degree sprain (not calling you out, just using your expertise to prove a point) and isnt an injury that cant be played through that now the excuse is that there is nothing he can do because the coaches/doctors kept him out. There is an enormous difference between being too hurt to play and being capable of playing and being held out by the coaches. Considering he went in the first series in the 2nd half the largest factor in him remaining in the game would be based on how he said he felt. Now Im not doubting the injury and theres no way to know what kind of pain he was in or how much the decision to pull him was injury and how much was performance. But all the people who are s***ting all over people upset about this need to realize that this injury is something can be played and its been proven many times. Lovie Smith didnt say he pulled him because he was playing bad, he said it was because of the injury. Do you honestly not think if Jay came in after the first series in the 2nd half and said to Lovie "Its sore but Im fine, I can play through it" that he would have stayed in the game? The evidence here points strongly to the fact that this is an injury some people can play through and some can't, with Jay being in the 2nd group. Does that make him some sort of epic sissy? I can't say, and I'm not going to resort to name calling here. But I am surprised, because it's an injury people have played through, Cutler is a guy who has shown to be very tough in the past, yet he didn't play through it. -

QUOTE (Middle Buffalo @ Jan 24, 2011 -> 02:01 PM) Kind of funny that his critics (Dilfer, Hassleback, et al) constantly criticize his mechanics, but they want him to play through an injury that wouldn't have allowed him to plant when he threw. Haha there aren't many QB's in the league who would be less affected by an inability to plant when throwing than Cutler. -

I'm not going to get into the s*** throwing fest that some are engaged in throughout this thread, but that's just the truth. -
