QUOTE (DBAHO @ Mar 5, 2011 -> 08:38 PM) At this stage, my guess would be Dwight either re-signs in Orlando, or he'll go sign with the Nets when they move to Brooklyn. He wants to be "the guy". He doesn't want to play in a situation with other stars like Melo and James are doing now. It all depends on a new CBA and Salary Cap etc. to determine whether teams would even be able to trade for Howard next season, but I would highly doubt the Magic even consider moving him. There is no way he's staying in Orlando. I don't know where he'll end up but he's leaving.

QUOTE (Jim Spencer @ Mar 3, 2011 -> 08:41 PM) The All Star line The Hawks need another scoring line in the playoffs...Hopefully the 2nd line heats up too Yeah, Hawks need a bit more secondary scoring (although Hossa has been doing that lately) and to quit having a random bad period every game! It seems like even during this winning streak, there is that period every game where they give up 2 or 3 goals. But for now, just keep winning. We can figure that stuff out later.

QUOTE (DBAHO @ Mar 3, 2011 -> 10:21 PM) I just don't think long - term, Chris Bosh is the right fit on that team. They don't win the title this season, people are going to speculate about whether they can do sign and trade deals for the likes of Deron Williams and Chris Paul for 2012 FA involving Bosh IMO. Yeah I'd be surprised if Bosh isn't traded, unless they make a playoff run that a lot of us aren't expecting. They need more toughess and rebounding on the interior and a player who doesn't need the ball as much as Bosh. He's not a good fit for them. Obviously it shouldn't come to this, but the Heat STILL haven't figured out that Dwyane Wade should get the big shots at the end. LeBron James and Chris Bosh are not clutch, end of game shot makers. Let the one guy on your team who has shown in the past that he is have the ball at the end. If you give Bosh or James those shots, they will not go in. It's that simple.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 1, 2011 -> 12:42 PM) Most celebrity "hot" girls (usually lacking in curves and way too much makeup) Amen. Plus, even the ones that are hot often times really aren't any hotter than girls you'll see pretty commonly in "real life". Oh, and MMA is another one. It just seems to be insanely popular, yet I find it quite stupid. Just the opinion of one man though.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Mar 1, 2011 -> 05:03 PM) I absolutely loathe ESPN. Outside of game coverage, I don't even watch them anymore. That channel and their "journalism" is a complete joke. In bed with the leagues and big markets, no need to watch that crap. The best part of the story on that link you're referring to is it includes the Knicks, but not the Spurs, who only have the best record in the league.

QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Mar 1, 2011 -> 09:01 PM) One of BYU's starting forwards is suspended for the year because of breaking BYU's Honor Code. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/news/story?id=6172760 So did he get drunk or have sex? Has to be one of the two. And if Illinois win their home finale, loses their first Big Ten Tournament game, and makes the big dance.....well then I'd say the tournament really needs to be reduced to about 48 teams. They are not a tournament team, simply put, unless they do damage in Indy. But the weak at large pool may let them in anyways. -
Coffee Jersey Shore The Cubs Harry Potter Lord of the Rings Twilight Energy Drinks Lady Gaga Chipotle and Taco Bell Getting drunk I'm sure there are plenty more I'm not thinking of at the moment, but this is a start.

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Feb 28, 2011 -> 12:29 AM) His fan section IMO. Morel Mania > Crede's Crew Oh my goodness, Crede's Crew! Weren't they the hooligan drunk mother f***ers that occasionally made appearances in the bleachers? Loved those guys (but probably because I never actually met them).

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Feb 28, 2011 -> 08:57 PM) I hear Leddy has been playing really well, but I swear, every time I watch him, he makes a bunch of rookie mistakes. I think he's been playing very well lately personally. The first two periods tonight were about as well as the Hawks have played all year in my opinion. The third period was maybe an example of the back to back games catching up with them (although the Hawks ALWAYS seem to have that one bad period even in games they win) but to their credit they held on to get the two points in regulation. Just keep winning and everything is fine.
-
It's too bad the Hawks had their typical huge mistakes in the 2nd period to give Phoenix a point. But as long as the Hawks keep winning like they did tonight, things will be fine.
-
How long until the Heat get that Wade should be taking the last shot? He's a clutch player that has proven he can hit the big shot at the end, whereas LeBron's resume includes many more misses that hits in that spot. For the Knicks to shoot 39 percent, have 16 turnovers, not sniff 100 points, and still win at Miami....I can't decide if that's a good sign for them or a horrible one for the Heat. The Heat have had some issues with even just decent teams if one of the big three isn't hitting shots, and tonight Wade was 5 for 15 for 12 points.

Steve Lavin is doing an awesome job, and that program is going nowhere with his ability to recruit. But that team is LOADED with seniors. Seven of the eight they played today are seniors, and the roster has 10 seniors. Not the worst situation to walk into, and I can see why they fired Norm Roberts. I'd guess part of the reason was fear he'd hit gold with that older team this year, and they'd be stuck with him. At any rate, the Johnnies are not a team you want to see in your bracket quadrant. -
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Feb 26, 2011 -> 10:59 AM) Re-signing Sharpie after next year seems less likely now. Although, with the way Leddy has been playing, I can see them moving Hammer this off-season. (Assuming they can't find a taker for Campbell) I don't think finding a taker for Hammer will be all that easy either with his cap hit unless you also take some money back. Sharpie is as good as gone after next year, unless this just feel like outright dealing him this summer is a better plan. I don't think spending this much on this few guys is a sustainable situation, but there aren't a lot of moves to be made. I don't see any takers for Campbell or Hos, Toews, Kane, Keith, and Seabs are going nowhere. It seems like Sharpie is the odd man out soon, maybe they could move Bolland?
-
I'm not sure Brent Seabrook has earned anything more than a very modest raise, let alone a 2.5 million dollar one. And he's worth a bigger cap hit than Duncan Keith? If this is true, the Hawks will be locked into spending 22 million in cap hit a year on the top 4 defensemen for at least the next 3 years, and will be locked into the top 3 paid defesemen for the next 5 years. With the way this defense has played overall this year, are you comfortable with that? I'm not. If you add in the fact that the top 5 forwards on this team make a little over 24 million a year in cap hit, Corey Crawford is going to be due a significant raise, Troy Brouwer is due a raise, etc. Even with the Stanley Cup bonuses coming off the cap and the cap likely going up, this team had better be awfully good at building VERY cheap and significant in numbers depth through the system or through very cheap free agent signings (and soon), because there is just not going to be much actual money there for it anytime soon. And quality depth was probably the #1 reason this team won it all last year.
-
QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Feb 25, 2011 -> 10:39 PM) As we've said, they are gonna suck on defense. Melo, Amare and Billups will get theirs, but they are all below-average defenders. I think their biggest issue will be interior defense. They have no depth in there and what they do have isn't interesting in doing the dirty work. Antawn Jamison had 28/13 and J.J. Hickson had 24/15 tonight. The Knicks were also outrebounded 62-42, and Cleveland had 44 free throw attempts. Things like those will be commonplace against them, and of course tonight those numbers came against the laughable Cavaliers.

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Feb 25, 2011 -> 02:30 AM) What about trying to sign Rip Hamilton if/when he gets bought out by the Pistons? I'd be all for it. That would be fantastic.

So breaking news on twitter tells me "Wisconsin Assembly passes bill stripping public workers of collective bargaining rights - AP". For those of you smarter than I: how can a state strip public workers of collective bargaining rights? It just doesn't sound like something a state can do to me. But I'm admittedly very ignorant on this subject. I'd love to know if other states have done this.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Feb 25, 2011 -> 12:48 AM) Flame me if I'm wrong here, I don't care, but all I could think about when I was watching the game tonight was the early 00s Pistons teams. Tough defense, a great rebounder and defensive presence in general down low, and generally a bunch of good but no great players. Obviously there is a distinct best player on this Bulls team compared to the Pistons where pretty much everybody was equally valuable. The one piece that those Pistons teams had that this Bulls team doesn't have is a Rasheed Wallace type. I'm not suggesting the Bulls need to go out and get a 4 who can both drive and shoot, but it seems like they really need one more piece to really make it work. They definitely need one more piece: a 2 guard. The comparison with that Pistons team isn't crazy, but they had Rip Hamilton and this team has Keith Bogans and Ronnie Brewer. Not to diss Ronnie Brewer either because he's a very good bench player, but this team needs a legit starting 2 guard to go where it wants to. I would love to have a Rasheed Wallace type in his prime of course, but I'm pretty happy with Boozer and Noah if they can stay healthy.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Feb 23, 2011 -> 06:48 PM) Devils are 16-1-2 in their past 19 games. And are still 9 points back of a playoff spot in the East. They were 10-29-2 before this run, on pace for 44 points THIS SEASON. That'd have been an NHL worst since the expansion Thrashers had 39 in 1999-2000. In other words, the Devils were on pace to among the worst teams in recent NHL history (if not longer) through exactly 1/2 of the season, and now they're the hottest team in the league. IF they somehow keep this up and make the playoffs, it'd be among the greatest team comebacks in sports history. For some reason, this hot streak basically started when they traded their captain Jamie Langenbrunner (they're 16-2-2 since).
-
This is the first time in a while I've felt pretty good about the Hawks. Every previous time this year I have though, they almost immediately went on a bad streak. Consistency has been the issue all season. If they can settle that now, they'll get in. But it's hard to expect it when we haven't seen it all year. One guy we have seen it from is Corey Crawford though. He's the MVP of this team as far as I'm concerned.
-
Still think the Bulls playoff stay will be short, but beating those assholes from Miami is fun anytime. Chris Bosh has to be the absolute biggest p**** in all of sports. What a laughingstock.
-
I am stunned the Bulls stood pat. If they were willing to ride or die (and they will die, early in the playoffs) with Keith Bogans at two guard because they didn't want to trade Omer Asik, then shame on them even more. I just don't see any way a team as weak at the 2 and 3 as the Bulls can do much in the playoffs.

Guys like Mike Davis, Demetri McCamey, and Mike Tisdale are naturally going to get a lot of crap. They are looked at as talented players, yet they've basically been losers at Illinois. Two years not in the NCAA Tournament, a 3rd year where they lost in the first round to Western Kentucky, and now an underachieving team this year. I just think people look at those three guys and see four years of empty numbers in terms of their statistics. -
Love this. I'm tired of the fear (yes, fear) this organization has of the Twins. Respect is ok, I respect what the Twins do as an organization. But you can't be afraid of them like we seem to be, Instead, show some confidence and belief that you're absolutely better than them. This is a good start. I'm not normally into stuff like this quite honestly, but the Sox need an attitude like this in regard to the Twins because what we've been doing (sucking an unmetionable body part of theirs at every turn) hasn't been working at all!

Albert Pujols' extension - Cards fail to extend by deadline
whitesoxfan101 replied to chisoxfan09's topic in The Diamond Club
All things considered, I'd probably rather have Prince Fielder than Albert Pujols if I were the Cubs. But they want the PR victories (it's been their strategy for decades), so I'm sure they'd go Pujols or bust if he hits the market next year. I'm with fathom though, I think the Cardinals would trade him at the deadline if it comes to the point where they know he can't be kept. It remains to be seen if they could afford either of them though, this all sounds like typical Cubbie fake optimism.
