  1. QUOTE(Wedge @ Apr 9, 2007 -> 08:34 PM) Coop'll fix 'em! The fact it took until post #14 for this to show up in this thread makes me sad. Wake up people!!! As for Lidge.....it's been obvious since early 2006 he'll never be the same after what happened in late 2005.
  2. Jose says "divorce this, b****!!!" Tonight's outing gives this theory some small level of credence IMO.
  3. GREAT win, can't come up with a single negative from tonight. Pods, keep making me look like a retard, and nice job Thome. Great job Count and Bullpen!!
  4. That 2nd half was pretty damn bad. Still control their own destiny with 4 to go, 2 of the 4 being home games against crap, and road games against a team they just beat by 31 and a team without their 2 best players. But man, they seemed to forget their was a 2nd half today.
  5. QUOTE(danman31 @ Apr 8, 2007 -> 04:26 PM) Yeah, their bullpen is a joke. I keep saying they will be decent next year. Alex Gordon is showing that he was rushed so far though. And with the lackluster play they got at 3B last year, it made perfect sense to rush up Gordon *rolls eyes*. HA, that's why they are the Royals though.
  6. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Apr 8, 2007 -> 04:30 PM) It would be really nice to be able to beat the Raptors and Nets which are very likely our first 2 opponents in the playoffs, send a message. If we win today, we're a split at New Jersey and at Washington from the #2 seed. I can't see any way we allow either home game left (Charlotte, New York) to slip away, even though those 2 teams have gave us some trouble recently (which isn't a bad thing, keep them focused on that and away from the opponents overall record).
  7. I understand your point Dick Allen, but if you just sit fastball all game, you at least probably get lucky and get a run or two, and that could have been the difference today. Your not going to hit any of his other pitches, so it's the only prayer really. But I mean, it's not like we're asking for a blow torch being taken to him, we got good enough pitching to win today. Btw, off topic, but I apologize to all those who expected a doom and gloom thread when they saw I started it .
  8. Harden is 3-1 with a 2.90 against us in his career, that's a cakewalk compared to Santana.
  9. QUOTE(WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Apr 8, 2007 -> 04:07 PM) Obviously they haven't been listening to Hawk It's not even Hawk, it's just common sense to anybody. You really can't hit any of his other pitches, no matter who you are, so your only prayer is sit on the fastball.
  10. 2nd straight outstanding start for Kip Wells for the Cardinals today. He was a tough luck loser in his debut (2 ER and 7 k's in 6 innings against the mighty Mets lineup) and today he threw 7 shutout while allowing only 1 walk and 1 hit in 7 innings (also had 7 k's again today), as the now 2-4 Cardinals destroyed the 1-5 (all at home, 3 vs. Pittsburgh) Astros by a 10-1 count. Brad Lidge had some MAJOR issues in that game, although his defense didn't help him, but man he's just a destroyed man in terms of pitching. Another interesting thing is the White Sox, Red Sox, and Yankees are all 2-3, and the Tigers were a 9th inning rally against the ROYALS away from also being 2-3. Some slow starts from good teams.
  11. Thanks for the help Pistons. TOUGH game at Toronto tonight, but if the Bulls pull it off, they are 1 up (which is really like 2 with the tiebreaker of course) with only 4 games to go for Cleveland and us.
  12. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Apr 8, 2007 -> 04:02 PM) It's not so much the fact that we can't score against Johan it's the way we seem to just f***ing give up every time he takes the mound. If they went up, had good AB's, and just got beat I wouldn't be so pissed. They go up there and just get f***ing embarrassed inning after inning. Exactly. The first 3 innings we gave good AB's too I thought, so I was doing fine with it. But after the 3 run homer in the top of the 4th, we just quit until he left and Uribe hit the blast to get us within 2.
  13. Man am I glad Riske is gone. At least the Royals actually won a game against them at KC this year though.
  14. Danks was outstanding, outside of 1 pitch to the AL MVP. Sisco and Aardsma continue to make me among others look like a complete moron, and Uribe actually appears to have a clue out there at the plate. Problem is, Dye, Thome, and AJ can't hit right now. And neither can Iguchi, who I'd still like to see hitting 2nd (although Pods is off to a nice start, and Erstad is still looking pretty decent, so I'm not sure how we could do that right now, but he should never have been moved IMO). To be honest, I am not all that worried with our play. The pen is looking good overall here, we've got 2 really good starts in a row, and I have no reason to believe we won't restart the hitting. One reason I am worried, however, is we're heading to Oakland, and Count vs. Harden might be a worse matchup than today, and who knows what is up with Buehrle. BTW, why doesn't every hitter just go up there and sit dead fastball on Johan? I know it's not as easy as it sounds, but we could at least get a run or two that way right?
  15. He destroyed that ball last night, I'm REALLY glad all parties kept quiet this offseason and I can openly root for Frank here in 2007. Hopefully Frank stays healthy, as he'd hit another 40 this year playing 81 at that ballpark if he does. It'll be nice when Mr. White Sox gets his statue at The Cell and gets into the HOF that i'll be able to tell my kids I saw him play.
  16. Don't say no to Thome, he had decent AB's against Johan last year and has 3 HR's in 21 AB's against him, including a game winner in April last year (a game I was at). I'd give A.J. the day off though and see if we catch lightning in a bottle with Molina, as well as putting Anderson and Ozuna in CF and LF today. Although I can see why we kept Erstad in, he's a vet with a hot bat, and putting Molina vs. Johan would be not fair almost, so I can see why AJ is in too. As for Danks....kid you might get no help, just pitch your game and throw well. That's all you can do.
  17. The offense against Silva was pretty bad, but Javy was outstanding today and the pen did a great job too, so nicely done. Hopefully they shock me and complete the mini sweep tomorrow.
  18. After today, he's hitting .182 with 8 RBI's. I wasn't even sure that was statistically possible this early in the year.
  19. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Apr 7, 2007 -> 12:03 AM) Has a player ever gotten 100 in any category whatsoever? No they haven't, and I didn't even think it was possible to give somebody higher than a 99, which is why this is such a big deal. This is the biggest news since the Cuban Missle Crisis IMO.
  20. I heard his radio show twice and it was the 2 worst shows i've ever heard in any format in the history of radio, my ears hurt, so this is no surprise.
  21. Are you kidding me? Of course he'll pitch, they always go out of their way to throw Johan at us since he owns us as much as Uncle Jerry.
  22. QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Apr 6, 2007 -> 12:47 PM) Uh, you do realize Self inherited the most talented team in their history as a first year head coach. Weber inherited a more talented team than Self did, by far. Kruger doesn't get enough credit for cleaning up the Henson retiring/not hiring Collins mess, but Self's players made the program what it was until this year. As for Gillespie, he was obviously desperate for this job and probably doesn't care he is option C.
  23. Temperatures during the game tonight would be between 18 to 22 degrees with 15 to 30 MPH winds. No conspiracy theory needed, baseball really shouldn't be played in those conditions.
  24. I think he sucks because he struggled in his first outing and wasn't scouted by our scouts in Latin America. *rolls eyes*
  25. The biggest dick in college basketball not named Bob Knight shows why yet again. I bet Beasley ends up at Florida now.
