Maybe the most encouraging part of the Illini win besides the supporting cast: 12 for 14 on free throws, despite the fact that none of the 14 free throws were attempted by Rich McBride, who is far and away the team leader in FT percentage. -
Iowa State's basketball team possibly in some poop

QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Mar 17, 2006 -> 01:00 AM) So according to college gamenight, ISU just fired their coach. Yep, I can confirm hearing that. Heads is dancing in the streets somewhere. -
I'll be updating this daily, and round by round as well as overall (I'm on spring break through Monday, so I got free time lol, and after that it will be easy to update with only 16 teams left and then less) as to not spam the thread too badly. Discuss as you wish..... This game was good preparation for Gonzaga IMO for the Hoosiers. A versatile offensive team that is difficult to slow down SDSU is, they shot AMAZINGLY well, and Indiana still found a way. Indiana scored 87 tonight, and I expect similar results against a HORRIBLE defensive team in Gonzaga. The Zags better shoot damn well and hope Batista gets the better of Marco, or they have little chance at winning, even if Morrison scores 30+

I went 13-3. 2 of the 3 teams I had winning that lost (Winthrop and Nevada) I had losing in the 2nd round, and Marquette I had losing in the sweet 16. So 15 of 16 and all elite 8 teams left, good day. Woulda been a GREAT day if Marquette and/or Winthrop could have pulled out games that went to the wire.

There is a reason we always suck now in international competition. In terms of their importance: America: Club Play >>>>> International Play Rest of World: International Play >>>>> Club Play We will never be great against other countries because we don't take the games 1/10th as serious as they do.

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Mar 16, 2006 -> 11:43 PM) Washington is playing their normal D...Utah State shooting around 53% There, fixed it. -
Well I figured IU would win easily since SDSU looked like poop all 3 games of their league tourney, barely surviving against bad opponents. Between Air Force and San Diego State, apparently the MWC was better than people thought. But both teams did lose at least, and IU advances to take on Gonzaga, who's deal with Satan must be due to run out soon.

Roy is just out of his mind tonight. But Washington is playing extremely poor defense this half, they should be feeling fortuate about how hot Roy is. Hopefully he's using up his great game tonight and cools off a bit on Saturday. -

QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Mar 16, 2006 -> 11:38 PM) I'm more concerned with the bench. If they can step up like they did tonight, we've got a great shot. Against the Washington matador defense (assuming they hold on), I expect them to make an impact (although not as big as they did tonight). -

Brandon Roy is on fire, 25 points. Washington is in a world of trouble if he isn't playing this well. Utah State still fighting though, down 8 with 4:06 left. -
QUOTE(Felix @ Mar 16, 2006 -> 11:35 PM) I agree with LSU beating Duke, but I got Iowa taking out LSU to make the final 4 This is when I hope no one remembers when I said Iowa had no chance at making the final 4. Iowa has a hell of a workload if they plan on getting to the final 4. They have to beat a Northwestern State team which is a VERY VERY BAD matchup for them, then they play either West Virginia or SIU, and then probably Texas. I can't see them surviving that, as good as Iowa is.

QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Mar 16, 2006 -> 11:34 PM) Brian Randle better be ready come Saturday. He's gonna have to "bring it" against Brandon Roy. I think he's going to show up big going against an opponent that good, he has all year against high calibur players not named Daniel Horton. If Washington wins this game (still an if) I'm more worried about Augustine. Combine one of the dumbest players I've ever seen with trying to defend a smaller, quick lineup....and foul trouble is unavoidable. -
QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Mar 16, 2006 -> 11:31 PM) LSU TO THE ELITE EIGHT Amen. It wouldn't surprise me if they go to the Final 4, but I just couldn't pick against Texas.
-
Tonight's effort re-affirmed my belief that Duke will be toast when they find LSU waiting for them in the Sweet 16.
-
Great job Hoosiers. Now beat Gonzaga, for the love of God beat that team of clowns disguised as an elite squad.
-
McNamara looking more like the player he was all REGULAR season tonight, although he's actually been even worse. He is going to finish tonight with ZERO field goals and a loss.
-
LSU baby. Iona is a damn good team, LSU played a hell of a 2nd half. Feeling good about having them in the elite 8. And thank goodness GW came back, nice to finally get one of those 8 vs. 9/7 vs. 10 type games right.
-
Gonzaga with another of their cute little comeback wins. I just hope they realize when the fall behind by a dozen against a team that is actually good it won't be so easy to come back.

Nice to see the future isn't as bleak as everybody thinks. However I advise our "great senior leaders" to actually hit some shots if they plan on playing much longer. Dee had a very good all around game, but make a damned shot. And Augustine came out of the womb with 3 fouls I think, ugh. Great work by Jamar, Warren, and Brian though . -
Belmont up 6 with 9:53 left in the 1st half on UCLA. Hey, ya never know.

QUOTE(redandwhite @ Mar 16, 2006 -> 05:30 PM) At 1:30 in the morning, this morning, I decided to make two final tweaks to my bracket. Switched to the Hall over Wichita St. and also to Marquette over Alabama. I'm kicking myself, literally. That's why you NEVER touch the original bracket. s*** like that can happen, and is more likely to happen than a tweak that works out. Just fill out 1 bracket based on your instincts, and leave it alone. Even though that's VERY hard to do. -

QUOTE(redandwhite @ Mar 16, 2006 -> 05:25 PM) Tennessee just isn't a very good team. It's a shame they got such a cake walk to next week. Hopefully Wichita St. can put them away on saturday. They will. Wichita State is much better than people think, and are being overlooked a bit because of their loss to a red hot Bradley team (I believe it was Bradley) in the MVC Tourney. -
QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Mar 16, 2006 -> 05:23 PM) CWSGuy (going to Marquette) calls me with a minute left "I just got out of the opera, what's the score?" ........................um, yeah. Cocaine is a helluva drug.
