QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Mar 9, 2006 -> 01:11 PM) I'd be curious to look back and see who was the last team that had less than 3 future pros that won it. Maybe Cuse a few years back? I can't remember if that had anyone that already is in the pros besides Carmelo. Carmelo Warrick McNamara will get a sniff -

QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Mar 9, 2006 -> 01:01 PM) Just thought I'd throw out another interesting nugget that's somewhat related to my last post: The last team that won a National Championship without at least two future NBA players on the roster was the 1988 Kansas squad led by Danny Manning. Something to keep in mind when filling out your brackets. Yes sir, I remember B & B talking about this either last year or in 2004. Not a surprising stat, but an interesting one. -
Kerry Wood to have surgery on right knee

The chair idea is probably to strengthen his arm while not making him work the surgically repaired knee. -

QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Mar 9, 2006 -> 12:49 PM) UNC wasn't exactly stellar on D and often looked a little sloppy as well last year, they did pretty well. Illinois wasn't exactly elite on defense either. In a weak field, I don't see them laying an egg. Their only real flaws are spotty shot selection and free throw shooting. Their domiance on the boards and typically good defense should probably overcome that at least until the Final Four. HEY!! A nice short post from Zoom!! Your one of my fav posters, but man you need to do short and sweet posts like this more often. -

Still A LOT of time left. UConn could go crazy at any moment here. -
I think we will see that news from now on is always going to have a negative spin, regardless of if the government is republican or democrat majority. People don't want feel good stories, they want s*** and sometimes lies that is sad and will freak them out. It's sad, but true.

If your in the dance and a top 12 or 13 seed, you could win it all this year. And it's amazing I can say that with a straight face. -
Pretty sad that the media and extremists have caused this. I have a few muslim friends, and they are great people. To be honest, I approve of any religion that teaches sound morals, and Islam does. But the problem is, the extremists, just like in politics, RUIN EVERYTHING.

QUOTE(Brian @ Mar 9, 2006 -> 11:52 AM) The reason Johnsburg is undefeated is that they play A schools in their conference rather than AA schools which they are. They are moving to the Fox Valley next season though. But they are still a well disciplined team that plays good defense. Believe me, they have not seen a team like Warren all year. Not even close. Oh trust me I know that, and I think Warren will win. But Johnsburg being undefeated is really big for them mentally, they aren't going to go in afraid like I think a lot of teams do against a team as good as Warren, and I think Fiedorowicz will use his height and great talents to have a huge game. If he can get some help like he did the other night, this could be a classic. I hope Warren wins though, I really think they could beat GBN. -

GBN should have no problems with GBS I agree. As for Johnsburg, they are undefeated for a reason and Warren better bring their A game or else they could be in for trouble. Either way, the Warren/Johnsburg winner is going to give GBN a hell of a game. -
QUOTE(Heads22 @ Mar 9, 2006 -> 08:24 AM) 101, any news on Nayal (Mac) Koshwal? I'm at work right now.... Umm in terms of game updates, he plays at Boys to Men which isn't IHSA, therefore it's just about impossible to see how he's doing in games. In terms of his recruitment, there hasn't been anything new lately, ISU has an offer on the table and is definitely the leader though.

Marquette will get eaten alive inside if Georgetown does what they should in that game tomorrow. However I will say this, Marquette has a damn good PG in James and Novak could hit 6 or 7 three's at a moment's notice, so I am looking forward to that one. -

LeBron did it again tonight. Team down 2, game on the line....and he finds a wide open man (this time Damon Jones) for a 3 to win the game. Oh, and Ryan Gomes....another case of a dominant 4 player in college who was underestimated coming into the NBA because he's 6'7 and not 6'10. The dude can PLAY. -
Bulls Pistons Game Thread.

Ben Gordon tonight showed exactly why I hate him. All that scoring ability is so tormenting and tempting, but he f***ING SUCKS at everything else involved in a basketball game and is one of the dumbest players I've ever seen. -
Recruiting updates: Bill Cole (Illini 2007) had 18 points, 7 rebounds, 3 blocks at Richwoods advanced to the sectional title game with a 42-37 win over East Moline United Township. Richard Semrau (Illini 2006) and his team fell to 22-1 and were eliminated from tournament play as Semrau scored 12 points in limited minutes due to a foot injury. Eric Gordon (Illini 2007) and his team were elminated the other night, despite 22 points from Gordon, in a loss to Carmel HS (random note: how the hell are they that good after losing McRoberts?) Mike Tisdale (Illini 2007) had 15 points and 10 rebounds in his teams super sectional (sweet 16) loss at Macomb. Damn shame, 1 game from getting downstate, woulda loved to see him play. Brian Carlwell (Illini 2006) had a dominating 23 points, 18 rebounds, 6 blocks, 11-12 from the line performance as Proviso East advanced to the sectional title game with a 79-66 win over Curie. All 16 Illinois AA sectional championship games are Friday night. Of note for Illini recruiting fans.... Westchester (St. Joseph) vs. Proviso East: Carwell and Pullen vs. McCamey, Turner, and Peoples. That should be a hell of a game, and it has Carlwell (an Illini verbal) and McCamey and Turner, 2 guys the Illini have a lot of interest in (especially Turner). Peoria (Richwoods) vs. Washington: Cole AND Jamar Smith couldn't overcome Washington and potential Illini recruit Matt Roth (only a sophomore) last year, so Cole better be ready to go. Chicago (Simeon) vs. Oak Lawn (Richards): Possibly still potential Illini target Derrick Rose gets a pretty tough test against NIU signee Cody Yelder and red hot Richards. Also, keep an eye on potential 2008 targets DeAndre Liggins of Chicago (Washington) (taking on Thornwood) and the already mentioned Roth of Washington.

Richards beat Leo in OT to advance to the sectional title game against mighty Simeon. Future NIU baller Cody Yelder with 26 points in that one. Washington won a 61-60 thriller over Thornton as well. Crane won by 11 over Westinghouse. Proviso East also advanced. All 16 sectional title games are Friday night, and damn looking at that schedule there are going to be some f***ing unbelieveable games. -
QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Mar 8, 2006 -> 04:48 PM) Its not fact, its in a book, written by people who want to make money. A book that calls Bonds a liar, cheat, etc is more likely to sell than a book that says "Bonds is a great philanthropic human being." As for steriods being illegal, what does that have to do with the price of oranges? We are talking about baseball, not about the US. During some parts of baseball drinking alcohol was illegal, does that mean if a baseball player drank during prohibition that we should revoke their records? No, they are mutually exclusive. US laws have nothing to do with MLB, except to the extent MLB is governed by US law. A spit ball, like steriods gave players a leg up. Who cares if they are illegal or legal, no one would be caring if the book came out and said that "Bonds has been smoking mad amounts of weed for the last 20 years". The issue is whether he gained an advantage playing, atleast for MLB, not the legality of the actions. I enjoy debates, however I can't refute a post that has not a single legitimate fact in it. The book is written entirely based on GRANDY JURY TESTIMONY AND FEDERAL COURT DOCUMENTED INFO. So in others words, you either believe the courts, or Bonds. End of story. And then you go on to say baseball is above U.S. Law so who cares if the players are on steroids? Ugh.

The G'Town big men are getting the ball in great positions and being far too tentative. Combine that with the fact that G'Town isn't defending the perimeter well enough (which is all ND does on offense) and we have a very close game here.
