  1. QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Mar 6, 2006 -> 08:34 PM) I certainly hope so. But I hope you can pardon my hesitance to look at ahead at all after this up and down season. And FWIW, I think there are going to be some really, really good 7-10 and 8-9 first round matchups. Better than in most years. Part 2 is 100 percent true due to the parity (which is actually mediocrity) across the nation this year. Just about anybody can beat anybody.
  2. QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Mar 6, 2006 -> 08:31 PM) Let's not jump the gun on Indiana here. I'll assume at this point they are in the tourney, but let's go one game at a time. I expect IU to have a tough first round matchup. Well they are in already. And obviously they are going to have a tough first round game that they could very easily lose, but they are also one of those types of teams that could end up like a #7 seed and do some serious damage.
  3. George Mason, Wilmington (already in of course), and Hofstra should all get in. Hopefully they do, I have a bad feeling that Hofstra will get left out due to the blowout loss tonight and George Mason's being ranked earlier this year. Just a hunch though. Oh, and I'd love to see Indiana play somebody like George Washington or Gonzaga in the 2nd round. They could definitely beat those guys, hell even if you gave them another shot at Duke and put it on a neutral floor with the way Duke is playing.
  4. QUOTE(illinilaw08 @ Mar 6, 2006 -> 08:23 PM) Majerus just called out Morrison for pushing off to create space off the ball. Compared him to Reggie Miller. All great scorers do it. Hell, MJ pushed off on what may be THE signature shot of his career (if you could only pick 1, it's the shot that won ring #6). It's just some do it more than others and can get away with it more because of how subtle they are. I think Majerus is more saying guys like Morrison and Reggie can push off more and get away with it because they have the skill of being subtle about it.
  5. I think it would take something pretty extraordinary for UConn and Villanova not to get #1's. Memphis has to win the league tourney to get a #1, but if they do I think they get one because of their OOC schedule. That 4th #1 probably goes to Duke unless they lose early in their league tourney. I think Nova and UConn are just about locks for #1's, with Memphis and Duke the favorites for the other 2. Ohio State and Texas are waiting in the wings in case somebody stumbles.
  6. Btw Indiana fans, pay attention closely because I don't flip flop often. This season has sold me on Tom Crean, and IMO he'd be a great hire for you. In fact, he might be the best choice you can make. With that said, I hope he stays at Marquette.
  7. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Mar 6, 2006 -> 07:21 PM) Let's get real here.... In all honesty I totally loathe Memphis and look for anyway to bury them. I have no problem with Memphis itself, but root against them because Coach Cal is a cheating slimeball who can kiss my ass.
  8. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Mar 6, 2006 -> 07:23 PM) Not really the place for a debate on that, however. Let's give the guy his due and try our best to stay away from this if at all possible. Yeah I agree, which is why I limited my post to RIP, 44 is way to young to go, and he was a hell of a player. I just couldn't let that one go without mentioning something. However I'll drop it. RIP Kirby. My uncle actually went to Triton when Kirby was there and had classes with him, pretty amazing looking back now.
  9. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Mar 6, 2006 -> 07:21 PM) RIP Kirby. You were a hell of a player and a hell of a guy. Without turning this thread ugly (I hope), but for the sake of accuracy, let's just say the bolded was proven to be otherwise after his playing career. He was a hell of a player though, and 44 is WAY too young to die.
  10. RIP Kirby. You were a hell of a player, sad to see somebody go at such a young age.
  11. I'm 1-0 in guaranteed victories this season. I'll have to remember that and save it for a key spot this season.
  12. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Mar 6, 2006 -> 05:07 PM) Im expecting my bucks to take the tourney. I'm not, they haven't been playing all that well recently. They definitely have the best team in the league, but in this type of set up, the hottest team usually wins.
  13. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Mar 6, 2006 -> 05:03 PM) just wanted to give a quick shout out to my buckeyes. Who have a #1 seed in the Big Dance waiting for them if they win the BTT this weekend.
  14. What right does Selig have to make the Yanks take down THAT sign? There isn't anything demeaning in the message, and it's on Yanks property. I hope this damn WBC bombs and Selig looks like an ass, what a prick. And you MUST be a prick if you have me defending King George and his band of merry man like this.
  15. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Mar 6, 2006 -> 12:53 AM) I GUARANTEE a victory in this game. LOCK IT! Like I said! 1-0 in guarantees this year!
  16. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Mar 6, 2006 -> 04:52 PM) So Digger keeps proving that he's a complete idiot and that he doesn't know what he's talking about. On pti saying the valley will only get 3, which isn't happening. I love watching digger on college gamenight get owned when they're talking about bubble teams cause he has no evidence to back up his claims. I love this image, stolen from salukitalk: It is actually a principle of mine to mute/change the channel/turn off the T.V. ANYTIME Vitale or Digger talk. I refuse to listen to a word of their bull s*** ever. It really was a very healthy choice for me.
  17. Not sure how much it means, but this comment from Illini 2007 recruit Eric Gordon was VERY interesting IMO. You have to be a premium member of scout to read to whole article, but here's the quote I speak of: http://illinois.scout.com/2/505871.html
  18. Haha the name of course in general refers to the Illini, but also could be refering to the state itself, with Illinois, SIU, probably Bradley, and possibly Chicago State (they are in their league semifinals) and NIU (#2 seed in the MAC tourney) in the dance from the state. Of course, now that I registered with that name, only SIU and Illinois will get in.
  19. I'm in with the multi meaning name of "Illinois Domination"
  20. The Cubs know the public will buy their bulls*** and lies about these guys until they miss actual (regular season) starts. Of course, they will make up bulls*** and say the guys will only miss a start or 2 when the regular season comes along too.....
  21. We have ourselves a Darwin Award Finalist. EDIT: Damn, got beat to the punch!
  22. I see the well made points about the Tigers that the Sox were finished to pick 4th last year. But the Tigers dont' have NEARLY the pitching we do. The Tigers have no shot of finishing ahead of us or Cleveland, and I think the Minnesota pitching will be too much for them to not finish ahead of Detroit.
  23. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Mar 5, 2006 -> 11:12 PM) Yup. From what I hear he's an absolute sharp shooter, I haven't seen him play but if he is that, that is exactly what we need. We also have two pretty talented guys coming off redshirts in Jordan Armstrong and Chris Cornelius. I know Bone plays with Brandan Wright so I'm wondering if palehose has seen him play. Yeah, you guys are going to be LOADED next season. But who knows how much that means in the Valley nowadays.
