  1. QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Mar 5, 2006 -> 11:36 PM) http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/player/profile?playerId=12289 JJ's reign as all-time leading 3 point shooter didn't last long... Haha I watched him play tonight, that guy was KILLING it. He only has 2 games left (MAYBE 3 if they pulled a miracle) if they make the dance though, so IMO his only chance to finish ahead of J.J. is for his team to lose the league title game coming up and then make some sort of NIT run.
  2. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Mar 5, 2006 -> 11:52 PM) That's exactly what Lunardi and Co. had on gamenight just now. They determined that there are 7 at-large spots left (wichita st was one of them) and MVC filled 3 of those 7. Haha see they should put me on ESPN. But for real, there are going to be A LOT of teams holding their breath this week, hoping the Gonzaga's and Bucknell's of the world take care of their s*** in their league tourneys. Every bid counts, and it's also interesting to see what is considered "better"....a high major with a average resume, or a mid major with a better resume (ie somebody like FSU with a 50's RPI and 1 top 50 win vs. somebody like Bradley with a RPI around 30 and several top 50 wins, although pretty much all in the MVC.)
  3. The pissing match in this thread was pretty meaningless. MSU and IU are both in, the only team on the bubble in the Big 10 is Michigan. To argue who is "more in" is pretty silly. And Rex, you make a great point about the exempt tourneys, and I have a bad feeling your point about it turning into a high major party to bolster up their resumes may play out in the upcoming seasons.
  4. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Mar 5, 2006 -> 11:00 PM) I would just like to add, SIU has 0 scholarship seniors, not to look ahead to next year but yay. Yep and you have a very nice guard in Joshua Bone from Nashville, TN coming in next year too. Typical SIU player, smart and gritty, tough defender, can pass and hits open shots. SIU beat out some mid major contenders to get him too, like UNC Wilmington, Miami of Ohio, Bradley, etc.
  5. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Mar 5, 2006 -> 10:41 PM) So the acting sucked, the camera work was bad, the dialogue was shoddy, etc? There wasn't a thing worth complimenting in this movie? The entire academy would have nominated it for several awards even if the main stars were Steven Seegal and Louie Anderson and it was directed by Jerry Bruckheimer? Edit: I guess I will start working on a sequel. I'll get several oscar nominations based on your theory. All I need is a story about gay cowboys and I'm guaranteed It wasn't a HORRIBLE movie, but it was a lock for Oscars based on the plotline if it was ANY good at all. I am not going to argue since you clearly disagree, but the Oscars have a history of this crap.
  6. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Mar 5, 2006 -> 10:36 PM) Did you see the movie? Just because a movie has gay characters doesn't mean it's guaranteed to win some oscars. Maybe it was nominated for so many because it was a well made film? I saw the movie, and if it wasn't about 2 gay cowboys, it doesn't win Oscars. I'm not homophobic or anti gay or anything like that (in fact, gay marriage should be legal). But I hate the fact that movies win Oscars simply because of the overtones of the plot, and not the quality of the movie.
  7. Minny winning out is something Michigan fans would hate, since it would make them an NIT lock. Indiana is already in.
  8. QUOTE(Felix @ Mar 5, 2006 -> 10:27 PM) Lets go Minny, take the bracket by storm! They are such a wildcard. They could do just about anything in this tournament and I wouldn't be surprised.
  9. Of course, Brokeback Mountain winning stuff just as a political statement because of the fact it's about gay cowboys is a snub to all other movies. However, I was encouraged Reese Witherspoon won for "Walk the Line". She deserved it as she is a great and talented actress, and that was a GREAT movie.
  10. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Mar 5, 2006 -> 10:08 PM) You guys may have won that game, but Lute's won more big games than the Illini ever have. Doesn't change the fact he's lost it, and that date is a prime example of it. However Iowa should have never let him leave, although I'm sure there is a reason why he did that I don't know about.
  11. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Mar 5, 2006 -> 09:52 PM) AZ has one of the premier coaches in the game and has already played in quite a few national championships. They are more than capable of consistently being there. I agree but to be honest, I question how much "coaching" Lute does anymore. They are so damned undisciplined and horrible in late/close games, which brings up the Joe Paterno/Bobby Bowden "is he just there to bring in recruits" debate.
  12. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Mar 5, 2006 -> 09:52 PM) 8 years is a b**** much lol... but its the NFL so prob cut him after 4-5 That would be correct sir.
  13. QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Mar 5, 2006 -> 09:49 PM) Don't give Gonzaga too much credit. Remember Gonzaga has only lost to UConn who will be the #1 team barely, Washington who at the time had the longest home court win streak, and #3 Memphis. They find a way to win, I don't care who play, Gonzaga plays down to people, but they also play up to people. Plus Gonzaga won't get a #1 seed anyways so this will not happen. UConn didn't have Marcus Williams at the time, and they are a WAY WAY different team with him on the floor. Washington is a perfect team for the Zags to play, a bunch of scorers who don't defend, so of course that game will be close, and that Memphis game was just 30 minutes of AMAZING play by Morrison to keep the Zags in good shape until he ran out of gas. And mind you, the Zags did LOSE all 3 of those games.
  14. To me, the Valley is simple. They get 5, with Creighton being the odd man out due to the first game loss in St. Louis and the injuries (and it's a known fact that the committee picks through bubble teams based on how healthy they are).
  15. After all this time of b****ing about it (and understandably so) HOMIE FINALLY GOT SOME PAPUH!!!!
  16. QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Mar 5, 2006 -> 09:43 PM) I'd love to see Gonzaga get a chance to play Illinois, I think it'd be a good game. We'd win by double digits. I'm not confident in this Illini team, but our guards would have all kinds of open looks and Gonzaga hasn't seen a team that defends near the level of the Illini.
  17. If the MVC gets less than 4 I may boycott all tourney games that don't have a team from the state of Illinois in it. And i'm not kidding.
  18. UCLA is going to be dominant in the PAC 10 because Ben Howland teaches his players DEFENSE. Arizona and Washington will always have the talent to be damn good, but they simply don't defend well enough to be a consistent Final 4 type team, either of them. Stanford is really going downhill now that Monty is gone.
  19. Dear NCAA Bracket Selector People (lol): Please make Gonzaga the 1 and GW the 3 in the Illini's region. Thanks. Love, wsf101
  20. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Mar 5, 2006 -> 09:23 PM) There's no doubt about that. Also, Hofstra beat George Mason today which will probably get them in, which is more bad news for bubble teams. Ya, that type of crap would have driven me nuts all week. The CAA has a case to get 3 or 4 based on RPI, i'm interested to see how that goes.
  21. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Mar 5, 2006 -> 09:20 PM) Gonzaga with 39 FTA - San Diego with 16 It's because Gonzaga is the aggresor! The refs are being fair you conspiracy theorist!
  22. Lots of bubble teams rooting for Gonzaga like hell right now.
  23. Gonzaga isnt' even good enough to be Duke west, but the calls they get make them seem like they are.
  24. lol at Gonzaga....what a joke. Did he get it off? Looks like he did. OVERTIME!
