  1. Minnesota being the #10 seed tells you just how deep the Big 10 is this year. There are 10 legitimate teams and Purdue this year, pretty good.
  2. I think this incident is a sad statement about the lack of knowledge that still exists in regards to AIDS, rather than a hate crime. However, if a incident like this happens and the cop simply did this because the dying man was gay, it wouldn't surprise me....people just suck sometimes.
  3. No disrespect to the Iowa fans here, but I'm more nervous about a 3rd game with MSU on a neutral floor than I am a 3rd game with Iowa on a neutral floor. Part of it is the beating a team 3 times thing, but I'm just afraid Izzo could have that MSU team playing well at any moment, and their 3 stars scare the hell out of me. MSU also could give us issues if they ever figure out Drew Neitzel can't guard Dee Brown (although he really can't do much period).
  4. Well if he broke his neck and is forecast to be out 6 to 8 weeks, he should consider himself fortunate. Hopefully he recovers and comes back as just as good a player. The Canes are a very fun team to watch.
  5. QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Mar 5, 2006 -> 05:07 PM) I'm probably completely wrong, but I kinda did believe Oden when he said he woulda gone to college regardless... So did I. And if he had been eligible for the 2006 NBA Draft and went to tOSU instead, it would have been the wrong decision.
  6. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Mar 5, 2006 -> 04:57 PM) If anyone would pull a Leinart it would be Morrison though. And yes it would be a stupid decision. Just like if I were Greg Oden and was guaranteed being the #1 pick (a year from now) and decided to stay another few years at OSU. Anytime I know I'm going in the top few picks and am going to get money I'm taking it. Yep, you can ALWAYS go back and get your degree, that money may not be there a year later due to a myriad of reasons.
  7. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Mar 5, 2006 -> 03:12 PM) I don't think you ever fully recover from a stroke. My dad had a mini stroke 7 or 8 years ago, and while he's close he never has been quite the same. It wouldn't be wise to speculate, but it appears Kirby's is severe. Hopefully he can go on living a normal life. 44 years old is way too young for this to happen. Yeah my grandfather had a stroke (and then another 16 years later) and you are correct that you can't fully recover to what you were . I more meant I hope he recovers as much as a stroke victim can. And I don't like to speculate either, but for a 44 year old former athlete to have a stroke, combined with Kirby's increasing figure over the years, I figured that was the most likely cause of his stroke.
  8. Haha A&M with a lock on a first round bye. Tells me all I need to know about the Big 12 this year.
  9. Nah nothing wrong with laughing. I'm sure she is fine if she could that, probably just a bit sore and bruised, but hey there are other activities that can cause that too. See, now I'm a bad person for making that comment.
  10. That SIU style should give them a shot in the Big Dance, they just need their guards to hit some shots and look out. Hopefully Bradley gets an at large. They deserve it with their strong finish and RPI, and that combo of Summerville and O'Bryant could give whoever they play problems as well.
  11. Bradley's biggest problem has been the on the ball defense by the SIU guards in the 2nd half. Bradley hasn't been able to get into their offense at all, and it's killed them. The defense hasn't allowed them any looks from the perimeter, or a chance to get the ball inside. That and SIU has worn down Bradley on the glass is why SIU is going to get the automatic bid.
  12. Hopefully he recovers fully and sees the hint that he might want to improve his diet.
  13. Well, so much for that. Congrats SIU, hopefully Bradley gets an at large.
  14. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Mar 5, 2006 -> 02:14 PM) As I said, calling him overrated is idiotic. He might be out of gas and if he is, it's from carrying that team on his back all year. I know, I was just backing you up with why he's struggling. It happens every year, and J.J. gets the blame as a choker. To be honest, I hate Duke with a passion and have never liked J.J., but my opinion of him has changed a lot this year. I really respect the kid a lot for all he's done and gone through. I still think Shelden Williams is a big dope who would foul out of every game if he didn't go to Duke though.
  15. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Mar 5, 2006 -> 02:10 PM) They're still out on Bracketology and rightfully so. s***ty RPI (58), terrible non-conference schedule, 1-5 vs RPI top 50 and they've beaten ONE team that'll be in the tournament. If they are in over any of the MVC teams who are on the bubble, complete bulls***. I think it's pretty much a lock that all of the Big 6 from the Valley will get in except Creighton, but if somebody is left out because of FSU I'd agree it's bulls***.
  16. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Mar 5, 2006 -> 02:06 PM) To call JJ Redick overrated is just idiotic. The guy is the No. 1 leading scorer in ACC history. How could he be overrated? Hate Duke all you want (and I do) but I can at least admit that Redick is a super talent who deserves a lot of credit for the s*** he puts up with on a daily basis from opposing fans. Like him or not, the guy is a flat out stud on the court. And based on recent interviews I've seen on him, particularly one with TK and Wilbon on PTI, he seems pretty classy and level headed as well. J.J. is out of gas, just like he was the last 3 years in March. Coach K has ALWAYS played him too much, all 4 years. Nobody will call out Coach Krepaweraskiwoe though since he's the greatest ever, even though he has had enough talent to win several more titles than the 3 he has.
  17. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Mar 5, 2006 -> 02:07 PM) UNC right now and UNC early in the year are two totally different teams. Not saying they are better than Illinois, but they're a helluva lot better than they player earlier this year. UNC is one team I would not want to face right now, especially if they keep up their play as of late. UNC is a damn good team, and are much better now then they were when we played them.....but we are a lot better now than we were then too, and we still beat them on their floor. Even if the Illini had beat UNC at home, I could see him doing that, but we went into their house and took their T.V. I just can't see UNC ranked ahead of the Illini as a result, all things considered. Either way, both teams are playing well though.
  18. If FSU wasn't in after the Duke win, they definitely are now.
  19. Nice Top 10 Seth, UNC ahead of Illinois even though we have a better overall record playing in a better league and beat them on their floor. What a dumbass, although we knew that already.
  20. Hopefully Northwestern beats Penn State. That gurantees they finish at .500 even if they lose to Ohio State and gets them into the NIT (although you don't have to be .500 to make the NIT this year I guess). Plus, Northwestern has given Ohio State 2 tough games already this year, and it's never easy to beat somebody 3 times in 1 season (which is why I'm so worried about Illinois' 1st game).
  21. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Mar 5, 2006 -> 03:22 AM) I am now 100% convinced that Duke is overrated. Redick's last 4 games: 5/22 3/10 10/28 5/21 Just a slump? Or are teams starting to figure him out? Neither, Coach K has ran him and everybody in the Duke rotation into the ground by refusing to play his young talent and use his potentially deep bench. As a result, Duke is dying and I expect them to not last long in the dance. Duke's best chance is to lose in their 1st ACC Tourney game and get more rest.
  22. QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Mar 5, 2006 -> 11:53 AM) Who says Morrison is even coming out Common sense. His stock will be higher in this weak ass draft than it ever can get, and another year in college might just make people come to their senses and realize Morrison doesn't have an NBA game. But you have a point, I've seen people make plenty of stupid decisions before, so you never know.
  23. QUOTE(whitesoxin' @ Mar 4, 2006 -> 11:57 PM) We (Valpo) won sectionals tonight. I got to storm the court, it was a great time. Our student section was much bigger than Chestertons, and the game was at Chesterton. Good times. Ahh don't you guys have Robbie Hummel? Methinks he will end up at Duke.
