QUOTE (Butter Parque @ Jul 18, 2017 -> 08:34 PM) Torres isn't getting moved. Wish it weren't true, but you do not trade Torres for a rental 3B/1B and bullpen arms. That's just highway robbery. Cashman is not dumb by a long stretch.Give me Rutherford, Adams, and Fowler, and I'll say it was a good trade. I'd take Andjujar and/or Mateo as well. Yanks have so many good pieces. Red Sox could never match. Didn't the Yankees get Torres (and more) for just one bullpen arm, that was a rental, no less?

QUOTE (Tony @ Jul 18, 2017 -> 06:31 PM) Todd Frazier is a healthy scratch Probably because he's on a flight to Boston.

QUOTE (Scoots @ Jul 18, 2017 -> 06:28 PM) So, we now have technically 3 rebuilding teams in the AL Central (I consider Twins still rebuilding), with Cleveland being a mediocre 1st place team and KC...not really sure what to think of them...not that they are good. This division could really suck it up for the next few years...and it also could be the most dominant one for the following 5-10 years. Should be interesting to see how Detroit decides to rebuild their system, as the Sox now have some competition in the rebuilding department. Hopefully they rebuild poorly and suck mightily.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jul 18, 2017 -> 04:51 PM) I would say this is a safe bet considering Albuquerque is also a mile high (actually higher than Denver, 5,312') and has even thinner air due to the desert. EDIT: I have always wanted to say "higher than Denver," because there's not many times when you can say that and have it be true. Does Hartford have some ridiculous park advantage for offense? Because McMahon put up a .326 average, .926 OPS, 19% K rate, and 9.8% BB rate in 205 PAs there before his ridiculous PCL stint. The nearly 400 PAs of excellent production in leagues where he is very young for level, including maintaining that ~20% K rate in AA and AAA as a 22 year old, make me think something may have clicked for him. You can be concerned about the PCL if you'd like, but I'd be excited about a player with his AA numbers, and the PCL isn't going to make his K rate deflated.

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 18, 2017 -> 03:58 PM) Their AAA team is in Albuquerque now, but I believe it's also a pretty serious offensive ballpark. And agreed on the BABIPs, his numbers scream out flukisk to me. I'll take a .200+ ISO, 10+% BB, 20-22% K hitter, even if his BA is .250 instead of .300. At .250, that player is potentially an .850+ OPS player.

QUOTE (2005thxfrthmmrs @ Jul 18, 2017 -> 03:12 PM) Avi isn't Martinez. Martinez has a more proven track record and as a rental player commands less of a return. Also, other teams in the division have called on Martinez, Rox may just be driving up the price for division rivals. You think the Tigers aren't going to ask the moon for Martinez? They probably asked for Rodgers. If the Sox can sell Avi for a good price now and undercut the Tigers while doing it, they'll be doing the next competitive roster a huge favor.

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 18, 2017 -> 03:01 PM) That's a ridiculously optimistic projection for McMahon. Hell, that's basically Eloy's Jimenez's projection if all goes well. McMahon has some nice power potential, but nothing from a statistical standpoint has ever suggested that type of offensive player, at least not prior to this year (which I'm not buying). And everything I've read says it will be a challenge for him to stick at 3B long-term. I really think you're completely overvaluing him. Key word there was potential. That said, he has mashed AA and AAA at age 22, with that 20ish% K rate throughout. And if I'm overvaluing him, great, get McMahon and Tapia from the Rockies for Avi.
