  1. Why does Hawk say things like 'bunt it to the shortstop'
  2. Too soon. Do we know if he can handle things behind the plate yet?
  3. Rowand always had the bat control though
  4. QUOTE (JPN366 @ Jun 13, 2009 -> 04:50 PM) Hey Princess Dye, are you going to have "Princess Dayan" as an alternate login? I was thinking recently how a Dye trade would necessitate a switch. Did not think of that but it's a great idea.
  5. QUOTE (Disco72 @ Jun 13, 2009 -> 04:44 PM) Dare I say that Sox starters have been looking very good lately... Jose and Richard are making legit cases to stay at the back end of the rotation. I think it's pretty much decided they'll hold Bartolo out to see if they can get a young who-knows prospect in exchange for his misleading ERA.
  6. QUOTE (shipps @ Jun 13, 2009 -> 04:04 PM) No but there is honey. An actual bear party?
  7. I heard Matt Thornton interviewed on the Score once. The interviewer asked which member of the Sox would be eaten first if they were all stranded on a desert island together. Matt said: "Ha. Gavin Floyd." Didnt think about it too long either.
  8. Bacon getting that OBP to climb today.
  9. Incidentally, I think it probably bears mentioning that there are some guys who, on the flip side, got an unfair shake by being guys who you cant imagine having a beer with. Such as Rex Grossman, maybe Josh Fields. Although lately Josh has been saying some things that bring that treatment upon himself.
  10. PK is one of those Chicagoans who isnt from here. It was so weird to hear him say in October "it's getting too cold for me" at the WS celebration. You just expect him to be Paulie. As opposed to California Paul. But didnt he grow up in New England?
  11. We finally deserved one o' these games. I hate wasting PK this year (if we are)
  12. For those not watching it was a blooper that was purely muscled out there. We'll take it.
  13. Full count to Beckon.
  14. I AM THE CUBAN PIMP EDIT: Then again perhaps it's Jayson Nix.
  15. Outstanding back to back fork analogies, Jimmy.
  16. castro batting fifth, sweet
  17. Jermaine Dye: "very attractive rightfielder"
  18. QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 05:03 PM) Why? What happened in 1993? '93? Thats when Murph was stuck in 1984. Hampton's horrible. Stick to football.
  19. You pull for the Cubs this weekend. What if we later face another close race til game 162? There are some 350+ other days this year to hate the Cubs.
  20. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jun 10, 2009 -> 03:57 PM) I can't believe I actually saw somebody say "f*** Buehrle" yesterday. It should be a problem even when it's not someone as storied as Mark
  21. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 10, 2009 -> 11:50 AM) While I don't condone booing Wise, Dewayne has to look at his performance and realize he's going to get some booing. Even if he's making minimum, he's making a good living. If he can't handle the boos, I don't know why he would want to be a baseball player. To me, him saying "keep booing me" is him handling it. Players should feed off that. Why are we asking him to show repentance or something along those lines?
  22. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 10, 2009 -> 10:39 AM) If Wise hadn't separated his shoulder, both of their PA numbers would look much different. Anderson also had a long stretch of injury. Since May 29, Wise has had 20 PAs. Since May 19, Anderson has had 65. Plus factor in a recent short Brian illness. Again, we can argue the disparity should be greater...but I dont think that disparity is so small that we need to boo a struggling member of the home team. To me that accomplishes nothing. People say we discuss these two guys (and booing) too much. On one hand yes, but it's also part of a larger point. I would like to respect more of the people in the stands for the team I root for. And fans can positively or negatively impact players. It's not like football, but they have some effect.
  23. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Jun 10, 2009 -> 09:49 AM) I think one of the reasons Wise was up here in the first place was because he played under Buddy Bell, so obviously Buddy would have said some positive things about him, and hence why he got on the roster. Well he did have a great year in AAA, and up here there was a need...
  24. QUOTE (SoxFanForever @ Jun 10, 2009 -> 10:05 AM) What over the course of his career has pointed to the fact that he will get "on track"? A handful of decent plate appearances last year? That is probably true but then we have to boo every time there is a position battle between two negative VORP guys? Also, there's so much anger here when frankly he had some hits here last year that have some historic value. It's not a reason for him to be given a starting role, but it is a reason to keep from booing him. Above all this, where's the conspiracy? Wise has 43 PAs this year, Anderson 126? Wise has 43 even with a full-time guy injured. Even in the interim they're trying the awful Jayson Nix in OF. If they loved Wise they wouldnt even experiment with that.
  25. This coming offseason, does Thome pretty much take a mil or two to return if we offer a full-time DH slot? How many teams could offer that, plus have a chance at contending? Plus close to home for him... I'm fine with Thome being here if we're using that current money he makes and put it towards someone seriously good.
