  1. Time to do all my work for the day ASAP. Early.
  2. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Apr 2, 2013 -> 09:41 AM) ...also with this once again rehashed Hawk sucks/Hawk needs to go thread (which we see every single year), the moment he's gone, you'll all be praising him as the former face of the White Sox and "miss him". Agreed.
  3. QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Apr 2, 2013 -> 09:24 AM) I think he's entertaining. He is a homer, and some of his calls get ridiculous, but he does not shy away from praising players on other teams nor from criticizing the Sox when it's needed. He did go on and on yesterday about the Royals' catcher Perez. He can get fixated on players sometimes to the point of bizarre. I really don't think there's another announcer out there like him. What's the all-time Hawk-fixation team? CF Carlos Gomez LF Yaz RF Ichiro 1B Russell Branyan
  4. I thank the living legends for their 'service'. Done. Am I to never think critically about them, ever?
  5. Robin addressed it in the press conference. Said part of it was getting Conor some time in an MLB game since he has barely played at this level before.
  6. Where's he slated to start this season out? Need catching depth.
  7. I disagree with Hawk on almost everything, and disagree with how he approaches a broadcast. Yet I can't say I want him out.
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 1, 2013 -> 04:42 PM) Just once I'd love to see Dunn put one down. Gordon could have walked home. Adam's strengths have always been in not messing with his formula for success. 3 outcomes. You start taking away his power aspect and the entire picture of him changes.
  9. I'm not an AJ guy...but T-Flo is going to be out a ton. The value entirely rests on his defense and slugging. Not ignoring his penchant for walks, but it's not going to be valuable enough without the rest of the picture coming together.
  10. QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 1, 2013 -> 04:06 PM) This ump has a huge plate for Shields. He's giving him both corners of the plate. Love how baseball season brings my paranoia and conspiracy theory side back into view after a long rest.
  11. After a guy strikes out, it's an ideal time to mention he's unfit for his role. Lets not rock what works.
  12. Even though i'm watching ESPN Gamecast icons moving from base to base at work, I have to say: I love our hitters' thought process
  13. Trayce likely to start out at AA this year?
  14. I'm sure it's been covered every year, but just to fill me in...why is it the second day of the season is a day off? Wouldnt that amount to bad business-- just at the time you're trying to generate interest, you take your foot off the pedal a little?
  15. Sox fans are being granted asylum from Hawk Harrelson.
  16. Do we have a definite fifth starter yet? Why is the Trib talking about it like it's ironclad for sure going to be Axelrod? I thought Santiago was still in the mix to some extent? Granted I havent been as in the loop as I usually am lately.
  17. Dude's an unmined gem yall
  18. QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 24, 2013 -> 02:38 PM) Danks gave up 4 homers to Sox minor leaguers Puckett, Smith, Thompson, Shoemaker . 66 pitches. Trayce Thompson hitting a homerun off you is acceptable.
  19. No one will want to hear it, but there's actually a case to be made that, once accounting for luck, last year was a bounceback offensive year for Beckham Could we finally get that collision of 2011 fielding and 2012 with the bat, and with the luck uptick..? The thing with Gordon is the results we've seen are particularly shocking and depressing because of expectation and build-up. But lets remember the stakes for a guy like that at 2B are not deadly. Plus his rookie season already hit that ceiling that Gillaspie is aiming to even get near-- and it's a win-now roster. CG will get at-bats for sure to diversify the lineup, but i think Gordon is firmly in place on opening day and will have a long-sized leash as well.
  20. QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 14, 2013 -> 04:21 PM) Danks got crushed today by the Angels. In my opinion, I wish he could rehab a bit more in AAA and let Santiago start in the rotation. Derrick Rose treatment i see
  21. People get down on Flowers, but power like that with defense? Absolutely play him and reap the benefits of that cheap labor. AJ earned way too much to justify defense that substandard
  22. The realities are we're built for win now. So Carlos S. for Alexei goes in the face of that. Plus it's a sell-low moment for Alexei, so there are a few angles not to like on it. As with all things of course, for a legit haul there's obviously some point where we wouldnt say no.
  23. Seth Loman seems like a guy who should've gotten a chance before he got to this age. Switch-hitter. Granted I know it's 1b/LF and so many fall through the cracks at those spots. Maybe this is our cheap labor Dan Johnson by midyear.
  24. Only something by Rob Neyer should be titled this Maybe not even then
  25. It feels like it took 5 years to appreciate Wise for what he is-- nothing more, nothing less. For awhile here in the past, he was talked about like the scourge of baseball In my experience, generally the 24th, 25th man takes an absolute undeserved beating on message boards. It'd be nice if maybe this rare extended experience we've had with one guy could serve as kind of a template for going forward. The 24th/25th man, by definition, can't really be that great. There aren't enough quality players to go around, but it is possible for said guy to have something to offer..and can still be appreciated
