  1. QUOTE (YASNY @ Aug 24, 2012 -> 02:27 PM) I'm not worried about 2013 right niow. 2012 is the priority. Stunning that this post happened, did not see that one coming
  2. QUOTE (oldsox @ Aug 24, 2012 -> 02:26 PM) Derek Jeter was drafted out of high school, and he did not show any power in his first two years in org ball. Now he's a threat to get 4000 hits in MLB. Give the kid a chance. side note: how depressing that basically every career turnaround made since the late 80s has to be taken with a grain of salt as far as being natural performance. Are we at the point where the guys who turn their careers around dramatically are just automatically users, and those who just always sucked were the clean ones? Maybe not in reality, but in perception...it's getting there
  3. 1) List the sure-fire current guys that are leaving the team 2) What can I expect to have payroll wise to spend in the face of those departures 3) What farm guys could be up and in what kind of role 4) Add possible x-factor/no one saw coming/whatever
  4. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 24, 2012 -> 12:46 PM) Ha, interesting, mine too. Maybe I will see you there and have no idea who you are. i will be the one with the sox hat
  5. My first time in the patio area. Any advice? Best to arrive even earlier than 5:30pm?
  6. it's impossible to dislike joe girardi
  7. Girardi argued with a Sox fan during his press conference??
  8. QUOTE (Cali @ Aug 22, 2012 -> 09:43 PM) Spent too many damn years looking up at the Twins and asking the same thing. Good to be on top of that scenario. They're running out of games and I love it Kind of funny but we're like the new Twins. Perhaps not the most talented team in the division, but for the most part we execute and play well enough to win close games.
  9. I wonder how Hawk feels to see this happen to the game he loves-- more precisely, to see harm done to his favorite stories to tell. Bartolo is a part of some of them Has anyone ever heard Hawk discuss PEDs?
  10. Discussion Topic: the Royals losses were just any random 3 of a season's worth of losses, game-to-game momentum doesn't exist. Discuss
  11. Beckham not being able to hit is indeed an organizational failure seeing how high a pick he was. But the landscape is littered with guys that looked good at first and then could never catch up to the alteration that was made against them. I dont know if it's the rookie year he had or what, but it's nothing new for a fan to accept something like this and move on... considering him from now on: a defense guy that occasionally could bring a big HR your way here and there.
  12. QUOTE (Caesar @ Aug 20, 2012 -> 10:52 PM) I mad that we didnt take advantage of that s***. I am surrounded by Cub fans for friends. They gave me so much s*** about that KC series. They text me non stop when the Sox lose. I want this team to win so f***ing bad just so I can rub it in their f***ing faces, that I get so pissed when they don't Especially againsy the weak teams. It shouldn't be very difficult for you to point out the irony in Cubs fans pointing out another team's failures
  13. In the end they're another three losses. We'll have more losses before the year is out -- just have to beat our competition by year's end. In the end the losses that 'hurt' get forgotten
  14. Wait, I thought the season was over and that crying/whining was in
  15. Beckham's glove just went from gold to brass
  16. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Aug 18, 2012 -> 06:12 PM) I guess Wise didn't feel like running.....that was an easy triple for someone with speed. Was stretching his leg after coming to a stop at 2nd
  17. Talking about how many runs he has scored is mostly just reflective of the other guys in the lineup in those particular situations. What I gather is this -- he's not getting on-base as much as old Dunn did...so he's worse in that respect. Still doesn't mean he isn't very helpful, and he has absolutely carried us in stretches. Last year was so awful. I'm beyond content with what I'm getting.
  18. KC is great. The BBQ at Jack Stack is unbelievable, and Boulevard brews some very respected beers. Plus Negro Leagues Baseball Museum.
  19. It's funny but Flowers' defense actually may have solidified him as a backup, whereas many of us thought his offense was the only thing that would potentially let him stick in the majors. Obviously still have to see a lot more though in both realms
  20. QUOTE (Cali @ Aug 16, 2012 -> 01:27 PM) Can you imagine if the internet as we know it today was around for 94 strike. MELTDOWNS across all forms of social media and message boards haha The recent NBA thing was like a social media a-bomb of depression
  21. I think we need a good four to five more pages covering whether or not Robin will manage 25 years with the White Sox. Only then will we really get to the bottom of this.
  22. Shouldn't Saladino be on some of these lists? Based on his position... even losing some of that power you would have to think he has a future still. Also, while I understand why Barnum is on these lists (because our system is just that damn bad).... it sure says a lot that a high schooler already limited to 1B etc has jumped up this high in the minds of many. Is that based on more than hope? Obviously these kinds of rankings are kind of a weird thing, because I know that not everyone on this board just purely bases their rankings on ceilings.......but then when you have high hope for a high schooler that didn't come with Hawkins' pedigree, I have to think he's basically on there for ceiling's sake alone.
  23. Thanks! Very rare one of my ideas goes from Catch-all to full thread status --- usually it's the reverse of that Sox really dropped the ball on this pick. Check out his age in year 2012 http://www.thebaseballcube.com/players/pro...?P=Chris-Beck-1
  24. Anyone interested in just listing a completely off-the-cuff Top Ten current sox minor league players? Can be as unscientific as need be
