AJ Pierzynski Deserves Lifetime Sox Contract
QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 13, 2012 -> 01:50 PM) Can you picture a scenario in which the White Sox ever replace Robin Ventura? He's proven he's not a buffoon and knows how to manage, which is not rocket science. Jerry Manuel - Manager of the Year in '00, gone by end of '03. Classy, experienced early success....yet all that guarantees you nothing, nor should it.

Jordan Danks sent down
QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Aug 13, 2012 -> 10:41 AM) But 49 at bats is totally large enough! And his defense is far better than simply solid Look at the careers of Danks and Wise. They're both bad hitters. So the Sox going with the veteran is fine by me, because it's a total non-issue. They're both bad hitters that should not be playing much when we're back to full strength. I love how Robin actually lets baseball players play every day that should (and sits those that shouldn't). The game is not nearly taxing enough for all the rest some managers give people throughout a year. Under Robin, I am fine with mediocrity on my bench replacing other mediocrity. I do also believe that a veteran in the postseason makes more sense than a total rook (in cases where talent is equal).

Jordan Danks sent down
Dick Allen speaking a lot of truth in this thread. So many on this board let the tide take them way up and way down. The Danks HR took people way up. Everything else he is should be taking you back down soon enough, whenever he gets back. Thanks much for the HR, but it was one at-bat. Personnel decisions aren't based on small sample sizes, and his defense and athleticism are not exceptional they're just solid.

Jordan Danks sent down
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 12, 2012 -> 05:05 PM) Dumb is not looking at the facts. Wise career OPS .639 and close to .800 this season. Danks OPS after his homer, .621. This brings up the important point that --they're both bad

Report: Sox unlikely to pick up Youk's option
I would be fine with Morel if healthy enough to bring that defense. Reason being: we are free to upgrade positions other than 3B to make up the difference. Many ways to win.

Sox sign Wise, complete Myers trade
As Wise lives in Charlotte, it may just be he signed with us to be at home, regardless of any hope of a callup

'05 Reunion?
Since we don't have a constant need for defensive replacements in the infield... I'd also like one of our backup IFs to be a speed guy for PR purposes.
- '05 Reunion?

Robin Ventura Named White Sox Manager
Good thing I didn't vote for Real in the primaries, all this is gonna sink him in the general

Peavy's future here
One thing to consider with Peavy is that several mil that will be paid to make him go away, and then on top of that you likely have to replace his innings with some vet you are acquiring. So why not bring him back for one year (big money, but years-wise..a jerry favored course of action), dump Floyd's salary, and then at that point scour the farm/scrap heap for a Floyd replacement. That way you keep your top three guys for another year (Danks/Peavy/Sale) and take the hit on backend of rotation. Better than taking that hit at the top Complicating this of course is the now apparent need to pay AJ again.

Another WHITE SOX WINNER!!
Predictable open firing here on Reed, but really he's a closer and I don't have expectations for him to be 'special' There are some elite closers but we have just another one of those guys who walks a tightrope. The nice thing about Reed though is capacity for improvement, which you can't say about the other guys. Everyone here would love an elite guy to materialize, but you have to sometimes take some lumps to get to that point. The whole Jenks thing in '05 spoiled everyone and deluded many

White Sox vs. Twins 8/1/12
The thing with message boards is, outside of terms of service violations or whatever...everything else can and will be said. There's no gatekeeper. So to wish people wouldn't say certain things is really just not what the message board medium is. Openness to all points of view is kind of...the point. That's why I say --without any anger, attitude or anything-- quite frankly no one is forcing you to post here if you don't like that openness. Now, if Caesar posts something improper with regard to the rules, that's another matter entirely. It's kind of like how people get irate about Facebook changes. No one is holding a gun to your head telling you keep your account alive.

White Sox vs. Twins 8/1/12
QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Aug 1, 2012 -> 02:30 PM) You're not stating anything. You're begging them not to f*** up. Should we all sit silent? It's a message board. You don't have to be here if you don't want.

White Sox vs. Twins 8/1/12
QUOTE (Noonskadoodle @ Aug 1, 2012 -> 01:59 PM) we are talking about multiple clutch hits. You'll start hating me for beating a dead horse, I know-- but wouldn't it be safe to say that plenty of BAD players in MLB history have had multiple clutch hits? AJ is a decent hitting catcher, but this year is making people forget the guy who swings and swings endlessly to aid batting average but also create outs. I want this year to be what he really is, of course. but the larger accumulation data is what he really is.

White Sox vs. Twins 8/1/12
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 1, 2012 -> 01:58 PM) Konerko is hitting .325 THIS YEAR, with an OBP over .400. My comments (just mine) were not directed at Konerko (except in a totally separate post I made, which was about him)

White Sox vs. Twins 8/1/12
QUOTE (Noonskadoodle @ Aug 1, 2012 -> 01:53 PM) That is exactly why. Plus I think Paulie & AJ are just better hitters than Rios. The guy is having a great season, but so are Paulie & AJ. As for the Counsell or Mauer question I really see no point in answering that. There's plenty of point in it. Just because someone has had a clutch hit in the past, it does not indicate how many clutch hits they will have in the future. Baseball is a chaotic game, period. yet tons of energy is expended on making it not so. So to want AJ to bat over better hitters because "he has been clutch" is not a good reason at all.
