Cowley's entertaining. Even if I don't agree with what he does, it's still funny. There's no need to run from that.

Should Lillibridge be in our everyday lineup in 2012?
Princess Dye replied to sunofgold's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jan 16, 2012 -> 06:16 PM) He's not an everyday talent. Sure, Beckham could implode again and he (Lillibridge) would be the guy by default. That doesn't mean he should play everyday. So based on what you're saying, Beckham is unquestionably the everyday talent and Lilli is not? Just to make sure I'm following your logic. To me, it's way more hazy than that. Thanks to GB. -
Should Lillibridge be in our everyday lineup in 2012?
Princess Dye replied to sunofgold's topic in Pale Hose Talk
well he's not great, but the whole 500-600 at-bats logic doesn't matter if we're completely devoid of passable talent at 2b at the major league level or nearMLB-ready level. awful to say, but lilli may be the best talent we have for 2b. but that is something you have to determine in spring training and then decide how many wins it's worth to you to stall Beckham's development/value -

Open competition for 2b but give Beckham the leg up. We're better off if Gordon can ever turn it around. It's worth chasing that hope and (maybe)dream for the greater reward With Lilli you might be adding a few wins but killing Gordon's value in trades, killing the shrinking chance he'll develop into an all-star -
Anybody catch the name of that woman John Oliver interviewed tonight? Who the hell was that

I am a pretty huge basketball fan -- but this has spiraled out of control -
2012 Cuban signees thread Cespedes/Soler/Concepcion
Princess Dye replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I too am curious about comparing Cespedes to stats of other guys who have played both here and in Cuba. Age aside, I just want to learn about what the level of competition is considered there, and if all these guys are playing in basically the same league or if there are several. -
The other side of rebuilding, for your consideration...
Princess Dye replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
It's so bizarre to me that anyone would say "oh no but now we can't win" when we didn't win last year The division sucks. We can afford to lose some pieces and still have a few spots where we will have to depend on a surprise performance. We may not win in '12, but rebuild or not, we were going to need some magic to come our way. if '12 success ever had a chance of happening in the first place -
2012 Cuban signees thread Cespedes/Soler/Concepcion
Princess Dye replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I can't really look into this myself since I've begun drinking Tank 7s tonight..... but can we look at those Cuban stats for Cespedes and say Alexei's Cuban stats were against comparable competition? Is there some way of finding this out? -
The big question is can these guys be in OUR top ten prospects Maybe the larger question- is there anybody that can't
-
It's crazy how people will take a rumor and offer it as proof in an argument. To say "the braves were interested" --even if true, means nothing. Says nothing. What if they were offering prospects of exactly this SD package's caliber?

Quentin wasn't going to get a long term deal here, and teams know that. There are lots of guys like him on other teams, who have shown flashes and then shown inconistency. Teams are going to look at all those guys and try to get them for cheap. We have likely just been waiting it out for two years and finally are caving to save the $. Whether injury-related or not, he was not consistent enough to be in high demand.

Buehrle Signs with Marlins | 4 yrs $58 mil
Princess Dye replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Interestingly, not offering Buehrle a contract creates the side benefit of protecting his legacy here. It's a gift to him, in a sense, in that there's no zero chance he gets the Thome treatment in CLE (even though the chance of that happening was tiny to begin with) -
Buehrle Signs with Marlins | 4 yrs $58 mil
Princess Dye replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Sox weren't able to extend an offer because there's a chance he could've accepted There's no reason to spend tons of $ on Mark right now. We dont need him, b/c this isn't going to be a year we go for the championship. I'd rather spend that $ in 2012, 2013. -
You guys are ready to instantly hand a starting spot to Lilli? Sample sizes aren't big enough. He should definitely be allowed to compete with Beckham for the 2b job, but he's handed nothing. Rowand fits as long they are willing to play Lilli at a few positions. And with a player like that, you get the most value out of him that way (unless he wants to prove even more offensively than he did last year....)

I like this...but only for one reason -- leads me to believe that Lillibridge could be given a chance to get significant playing time in the IF

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Nov 16, 2011 -> 12:12 PM) If Mark goes anywhere other than St. Louis or here, I'll feel mad betrayed. I really hope this is to gauge his market price, then come back to the Sox to match. Mark deserves to go to the place that offers him the most money. I really don't see how anyone could argue otherwise. He's done everything you can do for us. And I dont even put this into the equation, but some can also look at the fact that he already has given us a hometown discount. On top of everything. -
2011-12 White Sox off season catch all thread
Princess Dye replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
How bout this for a lineup vs RHP De Aza DeJesus Viciedo PK Dunn Alexei AJP Beckham Morel Then when relief LHP comes in late, you can put Rios in one of the top two slots to combat this and improve defense at the same time -
How you get a 16k sq ft house in Scottsdale...
Princess Dye replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Lets get real. Most of the people getting those types of houses in Scottsdale are rich kids inheriting crap -
All Flowers has to be is OK defensively. The great hitting potential he has shown in the minors would simply be a bonus. AJP's money owed is an albatross when one considers what a franchise with our budget issues could do with a few guys off the books. I wouldn't say this if AJ could do much else defensively besides block a pitch.

Get the crystal ball out. Can Flowers be a jr. Napoli perhaps? -
Greg Walker next hitting coach in ATL
Princess Dye replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
People need to understand that the White Sox routinely gave him low amounts of hitting talent to work with. Hitting coaches are not worthy of blame or praise. Surely not heaps of either, at least. -
The Sox will retool because they can't draw with a team of youngsters. Pairing Rios with Danks is never going to happen....because of the monetary savings you get from that is put towards ANOTHER bust player....KW is just going to look even dumber. For having given away Danks.

It'd just be so awful though if everyone assembled ends up hating it. Right there in front of Frank Thomas
