I'm just saying that if you look at each guy's swing, it's pretty obvious why one is going to get more infield singles than the other. One has a flat swing, and the other has a more traditional LH uppercut swing.
Situational hitting (and bunting) is something he's going to have to learn if he's ever going to reach his potential. When you're a SS who's going to hit .265 with some pop and not walk a lot, you need to be able get runners over.
Yeah, this year is all about seeing what you have with the Davidson, Palka and Delmonica's and then replacing them with some vets if they don't show anything.
I think this off season is where you look to add a few respected vets who've been around the block on short term deals. Just to show the kids the ropes really.
I don't think it matters a whole lot. They still won't be good next year. I'm not sure who's on the FA market, but I wouldn't mind adding a decent vet on 1-2 year deal for the clubhouse presence.
Alexei was a mess in the field when he first came up, but the tools were glaring. He turned into a damn fine SS. I wonder how old he really was. It seemed like he just fell off a cliff at some point.
