Considering individual contracts are creeping up into the area of 1/3rd of a franchise's total value, I'm not going to tell them how to spend their money. If the product doesn't satisfy me, I have the choice to not buy it. Baseball isn't a right, utility or commodity. It's entertainment that I voluntarily buy.

Some of us live in a place called "reality," where practical decisions are made based on things called "resources."

Hi Gleybar and Ozzie! ?♂️

I'm not really sure how you can complain about Beckham and LTP being hyped up. Beckham had a lot of success at the MLB level and then fell off a cliff. It wasn't just Sox fans projecting him to be great either. LTP had some of the loudest tools you'll ever see. To this day, I've never seen anybody hit a ball harder than a couple off his bat. He was a great athlete that never figured out a good approach. Obviously none of this has anything to do with Yoan though. *edit* If you really wanna get pissed, the big Borchard comparison sure as hell wasn't Dave Kingman. It was Mickey Mantle.

White Sox at Royals 7/13 game thread 7:10pm

Do you actively look for these things, or do they just stick out to you? -
But, why?

Has anyone done a study about the correlation to strains and tears in the modern era and PED's? I'm not accusing anyone, but it's known that the use of PED's will lead to more ligament/muscular damage as the muscle grows so quickly that the rest of the body has trouble catching up. It seems like over the last 30 years there's been major rise in strain/tear related injury among all sports. I'm also of the opinion that the number of pro athletes that use PED's is much, much higher than what the general population thinks. I picked up powerlifting as a hobby and it's really opened my eyes to what's really achievable naturally, and what isn't. Also, the film Icarus was eye opening.

Giolito makes half-year list as 6th most disappointing

If 4 of those guys bust and 4 others become All Stars, it doesn't matter. The end result is all that matters, not who makes it. -

Right. This is why I find it odd that people draw so many conclusions based on an AB or a start. Just wait and let things shake out. I honestly wouldn't surprised if guys like Collins and Rutherford ended up being the best of the bunch. -

We have nothing to lose. Let him take his lumps. If he fails, we move on. -

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and guess that's why he used the word "progress." -
They're all on something. You don't get forearms like a lot of these guys from holding a bat. Bonds was just better at it. Obligatory:

Spend years b****ing about them on message boards incessantly?

But he pulled a pitch on the outer half. ?

It's pretty obvious to me that Yoan's hammy is still giving him trouble. He's still fast around the bases, but his gait is off.

Gattis' hipster beard annoys me. It's that modern, pseudo edgey, ad exec look.

He didn't miss that one, did he?

Fangraphs had a great article recently showing that nobody hates Sox prospects more than Sox fans.

3 years? ?

The media led people to believe Jeter was a good fielder. The eye test most certainly didn't. That's a really outrageous claim. He was a statue out there. I can see using defensive metrics to reaffirm what you see, but too often I see people citing them when evaluating a player they haven't seen enough and it's kind of ridiculous.

Happy birthday.

Irrational fondness of a player who completely sucks
TaylorStSox replied to Jack Parkman's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Ryan Sweeney. I thought he'd be a beast. I loved his swing. LTP as well. He might have been my favorite prospect ever. -
So you're blaming the toe tap for his struggles and it's obvious?
