  1. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 29, 2018 -> 09:51 PM) He saw the ball and smoked it every time. Thats a huge step for him. It was extremely positive IMO. He's a pretty perfect DH that can also sub in the field. If he cuts down the walks his power will offset the K's. Heres to hoping the light came on I mean if the dude wants to go ahead and hit 260/310/530 more power to him. I'm in complete wait and see mode but those were some very pretty swings this afternoon and seeing the walk was just as nice. I've been a doubter because he really only has one tool that plays and that's power. He has to massively improve his overall offensive impact to be a roster-able player and that includes making the very rare jump in strike zone command. He can't have a f***ign .260 OBP and be a MLB player. So far so good.
  2. QUOTE (CWSpalehoseCWS @ Mar 29, 2018 -> 09:19 PM) Probably the most fun opening day game in a while. Great to see the offense explode with Anderson and Davidson getting it done. Also, really impressed by Engle. He had some good AB's. This team definitely has a different attitude than years past. Two years ago, this team would have rolled over and died after the 1st inning Shields meltdown. I agree that it starts with attitude but thankfully this team also has the talent (at least offensively) to make it matter. I'm highly encouraged by the mechanical changes that Davidson and Engel have made and I'm encouraged that TA took a walk today. Obviously it's great to see Avi and Jose and Delmonico and Sanchez pickup where they left off last year. Feels like the Sox have only 1-2 or two holes in the lineup on any given night and that's a change. Some nights, if Davidson and Engel are producing like this, maybe they won't have any easy outs. Makes it tough on a pitcher. Can the Sox score 800 runs this year? They are off to a promising start. Of course they might give up 800 as well. Was not impressed one bit by Shields. His stuff was flat (that's putting it nicely) and I don't believe he hit over 90 mph on his fastball. He had little command on his off speed offerings and entirely too many of them floated right over the heart of the plate.
  3. QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Mar 29, 2018 -> 08:18 PM) I have Anderson and Moncada going for a combined 40/40 Anderson is holding up his end of the bargain, Moncada not so much. On another day Moncada could have had two bombs as well. Both his outs to the warning track in CF would have been HRs in Chicago in June.
  4. Damn, another long warning track out to CF for Moncada.
  5. Jason's HR calls suck.
  6. QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 29, 2018 -> 06:23 PM) Benetti so much better doing college football and basketball when he's not making so many jokes over 162 games it's way too overbearing.
  7. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 29, 2018 -> 06:20 PM) I can't find a perfect video of him from the side last year but I'm impressed at how well balanced Davidson's swing looks when you see those HR from the side view. I wonder if there's real improvement on that swing form for him. from a quick glance it looks like he's quicker to the ball.
  8. OK Stone they aren't paying you to be James Shields' fluffer. The offense put Shields in position to win. Not the other way around.
  9. smoked it, but a hang' whiff'em
  10. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 29, 2018 -> 06:00 PM) You have to give Shields credit, after the first 4 batters he has made it look easy. he's throwing the same junk, this royals team just sucks. they are basically the sox of a few years ago. on the wane and with absolutely no patience at the plate.
  11. opening day and MLB.tv already f***ing up. Nice.
  12. holy f*** what happened to the audio?
  13. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Mar 29, 2018 -> 05:56 PM) Now imagine Eloy and Robert in this lineup.
  14. Big fan of Chuck Garfien.
  15. Alright I'm going to start writing that letter to Todd. Hell at this right I'll fly to Chicago to personally deliver it!
  16. The Royals suck. Haha. Feels good to not be in their position.
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 29, 2018 -> 05:37 PM) I'd rather see him swinging at pitches slightly out of the zone, versus taking close pitches. He has such amazing physical tools, use them. Well I'd love for him to have an isoD around .100 again and he's not going to do that changing his approach. Ultimately I think he just needs more experience. Needs to know he's got to be in RBI mode even at leadoff sometimes.
  18. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Mar 29, 2018 -> 05:34 PM) Stone called it when the Royals left the entire right side of the infield open, he'd been hitting it there all spring I might have to send Todd that letter I promised at this rate!
  19. that might have been gone in July. Oh well, great inning boys!
  20. the days of soft tossing lefty junk ballers dominating this lineup ARE OVAH!
  21. OK Yoan, it's RBI time...
  22. I have no idea why you wouldn't try and jam engel inside there but we'll take it!
  23. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Mar 29, 2018 -> 05:21 PM) Gameday says 115 mph wow.
  24. as I said, offense looks better than average this year. starting pitching is gonna be bad. ha.
