  1. away, away, away, seems like he's going to make a mistake here and leave one middle in.
  2. Leury need to learn that as an OF your job is to GET THE BALL INTO THE IF. Stop pump faking dude.
  3. Engel should be benched after yesterday but is what it is.
  4. QUOTE (iWin4Ron @ Apr 5, 2018 -> 11:17 AM) This weather sucks. hopefully they can play 2/3 here. It's looking like they might only get today in. Sucks.
  5. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Apr 4, 2018 -> 09:54 PM) For what it's worth, there was a scoring chance. Fulmer is on the hook for 2 runs, not 3. It is not yet updated on box scores, but @cst_soxvan tweeted it. thank god they changed that "hit" on the humpback linedrive engel dropped. an overall horrific defensive game from engel tonight. we'll see who gets the start in cf tmr.
  6. QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 4, 2018 -> 09:45 PM) I never watched a full game of his in september, but I remember it being a lot more 2 seam fastball and changeup, vs the whole arsenal being deployed in every count tonight. ty, that's encouraging.
  7. QUOTE (Jake @ Apr 4, 2018 -> 09:31 PM) Big story of the night for me is Fulmer's stuff, which looked premium. Good velo on the fastball, lots of run. Cutter gave lefties a hard time, used the change as well. Didn't always stay on top of his curve but when he did it looked good. Still fought his command, which he's going to do for a while (if not for his entire career) but he looked like a different guy out there. to those that watched him closely at the end of last year -- was this different or new? I admit he surprised me tonight he had it working at times and showed good disposition as a starter (can't let a 2 run inning turng into a 4 run one and so on) which is something reylo also struggles with and reylo did well with that too his first outing. if it's one thing this org knows it's how to develop sp so I guess I should give them the benefit of the doubt until proven otherwise. So far so good the first time through for the kids. Reylo obviously was the most impressive on paper but all three battled and got the job done.
  8. QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ Apr 4, 2018 -> 09:28 PM) tonight's last three relievers looked fantastic. jones and soria are solid to perhaps very good at the back. the rest of it? the sox are going to be in trouble in a lot of 6th innings this year. At least until some new faces are brought in all around to the pitching staff midway through summer.
  9. solid tank win. Fulmer (obviously) surprised me. Haven't seen that kind of stuff from very often, at least not at the MLB level. Had some pretty great breaking balls tonight.
  10. old habits are hard to break.
  11. QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 4, 2018 -> 08:44 PM) This game has been soooo much fun. and it's not even over!
  12. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Apr 4, 2018 -> 08:27 PM) Moncada is already a good player by basically any metric. This isn't directed at you but the general Moncada worries. He's a net positive on both offense and defense (in 2017, at least) Moncada is totally the dude on OOTP with the 35 hit tool and a 40/70 overall rating that is 22 and hits 220/320/420 and then explodes to 270/380/530 next year. Let's hope that's the case and not the thing that also happens where that guy is forever a mediocre starter and only has one or two years where he's near All-Star.
  13. wow, can't catch up to 92 and throws him a hanging duck of a breaking ball 1-2. Thanks. We'll take it.
  14. QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Apr 4, 2018 -> 08:11 PM) Engel has no purpose it's coming at the expense of leury getting more experience out there and regular at bats too. pull the plug man. he's just not a starting mlb cf.
  15. hit the f***ing cutoff engel.
  16. QUOTE (Replacement Level Poster @ Apr 4, 2018 -> 07:59 PM) Not sure what Carson’s long term role is but at least there were glimpses why the organization thinks he can be a starter. yea, tonight was a very positive sign.
  17. fulmer looks great. totally different guy than earlier.
  18. so many damn double plays in this series, that is what, number 6?
  19. john gibbons looks like he just came off a three day coke bender.
  20. no jason we do not need the umps mic'ed up.
