  1. Hawk in "everything about mlb sucks now" mode. Hard to listen to.
  2. QUOTE (fathom @ May 3, 2017 -> 03:28 PM) For those better at reading fWAR than me, how did Anderson go down -.6 yesterday, including losing 2.4 pts for base running didn't score on the Abreu hit? Was that TA, can't remember.
  3. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ May 3, 2017 -> 02:10 PM) Regarding his defense, he may actually have improved. In both 2016 and 2017 his UZR and DRS numbers are both positive, and in this Fangraphs article about the new Statcast defensive data he was the 4th most improved outfielder defensively from 2015 to 2016. Obviously a pretty small sample size, but at the very least I think it's fair to say he's no longer a disaster out there. http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/examining-t...-probabilities/ It's nice seeing development.
  4. QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ May 3, 2017 -> 02:29 PM) We are 25 games into the season and Avi is still leading the league in batting average. It's time for people to realize we now have one of the best players in the game. His cost has probably risen to about $14 million per season since this thread was posted, but it would still be to our advantage to sign him long term now before he gets $20+ million on the open market at the end of the season. Hurry up Hahn and make this your #1 priority! In 15 years, we're going to be saying that Avi Garcia trade is one of the best moves in WS history!
  5. QUOTE (raBBit @ May 3, 2017 -> 01:01 PM) Something weird is going on with Rodon. I appears they are trying to put off the inevitable "exploratory surgery". FML.
  6. Avi is up to 1.5 fWAR and amazingly, with his catch last night, he's now positive (.3 runs) defensively. His K rate is down to 21.7% and his GB/FB ration is a 1.52. His pull % is 45.6. Those are all very positive indicators. Even if you regress his BABIP down 100 points he'd have a 283/333/529 line. Which hell, if he finished this season with that line I'd be thrilled. ZIPS now thinks he'll finish with a wRC+ of 102. I think it's fair to say he's improved and might actually be a solid starter.
  7. QUOTE (bmags @ May 3, 2017 -> 01:59 PM) Also allows more time for Saladino/Davidson to prove which one is worth making room for. It's awesome so many of the younger "non prospects" on the MLB roster are making some waves early.
  8. QUOTE (steveno89 @ May 3, 2017 -> 01:58 PM) I would let Moncada stay in the minors until at least mid to late June to avoid Super 2 Even though he is hitting well and showing solid power, he still can benefit from working on reducing that strikeout % and on defense He's only 21 years old, and there's not much reason to rush him to the majors What's the difference in salary going to be, a couple million?
  9. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ May 3, 2017 -> 01:40 PM) In a perfect world, I'd like to see him get that K rate down closer to 25% before calling him up. He commands the zone, despite his K rate. He's more Mike Trout than TA. That said, yea, it would be nice if he could cut down the strikeouts. I think Rabbit mentioned that MLB umps will help him as a lot of his Ks are on balls off the plate that are called strikes in Charlotte.
  10. Three more hits for Moncada, now hitting .330. He's going to have some teething issues in Chicago, but I don't think he has much left to prove in AAA.
  11. QUOTE (fathom @ May 3, 2017 -> 11:47 AM) Or he was just incredibly overhyped Give me 2 solid starters out of that trade in Dunning and Lopez and I'll take it. I don't know why people think Lopez is a reliever.
  12. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ May 3, 2017 -> 11:43 AM) http://www.csnchicago.com/chicago-white-so...start-white-sox He asked for his release because he didn't want to play anymore. He got quite the bonus for a 6th round pick. Must be some talent there.
  13. QUOTE (ptatc @ May 3, 2017 -> 11:43 AM) The spin rate has nothing to do with it. It looks like he is so afraid to have poor command of the fastball that he leaves it over the plate to much. It's the command that the issue. The location is too good for the hitters too often. If he throws a strike it's too good of a hitters pitch. seems like he's injured then. Command is the first thing to go.
  14. QUOTE (joejoedairy @ May 3, 2017 -> 11:39 AM) I'm sorry if I missed this somewhere, but does anyone know why the Brewers released Delmonico in Feb of 2015? He was only 22 and he's clearly got talent. probably had to be added to the 40 man after 5 years service in order to protect him?
  15. QUOTE (flavum @ May 3, 2017 -> 11:35 AM) Hahn and Kenny are in Charlotte today. What's the scuttlebutt on when Moncada is coming up? Has to be in the next few weeks, no?
  16. QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ May 2, 2017 -> 10:52 PM) Innings like this should be for Chris Beck, not Cy Swarzak f*** that that's RV thinking.
  17. New name, new game for "defense first" Yosmer: .279 .311 .488 slash line now. Keep playing him.
  18. Confident f***ing AB for Yosmer. Other than TA, it really seems like everybody in the lineup is capable of putting together a quality AB, working the count, putting it in play with 2 strikes, etc.
  19. ERA down to 4.10 for Q. After his first few starts, that's awesome.
  20. QUOTE (Heads22 @ May 2, 2017 -> 10:44 PM) Jesus, tomorrow's final score might be 12-10. These Royals make the '17 Sox look like the 27 Bombers. THey had a wRC+ of like 70 coming into tonight. It's like a lineup of Tyler Flowers.
  21. QUOTE (Tony @ May 2, 2017 -> 10:43 PM) I was told Hahn made a huge mistake. Apparently the Sox' internal projections had them at 88 wins with Q, who knew
  22. Sanchez is as heady on the defense as he is moronic on the basepaths. He's a natural infielder, really has no weakness, including just knowing where to go with the ball and where to be on bang bang plays.
  23. Remember when the high strike was a point of emphasis? ha.
