Good job Smith.- Shane Smith day: Sox @ Astros 6/10 7:10 CDT
Smith is really smooth out there. Never seems to really panic. If he gets in trouble he starts throwing 97-98 and dares you to hit it. Shades of Rodon.- Shane Smith day: Sox @ Astros 6/10 7:10 CDT
Holy s%*#! Drink!- Shane Smith day: Sox @ Astros 6/10 7:10 CDT
Awful ABs. Not even competitive.- Shane Smith day: Sox @ Astros 6/10 7:10 CDT
vargas has gotta figure out how to hit the ball oppo once and awhile.- Shane Smith day: Sox @ Astros 6/10 7:10 CDT
come on man you gotta field that ball and try and get him.- Shane Smith day: Sox @ Astros 6/10 7:10 CDT

I have this card, was worth more when it popped then now probably.- Two often repeated statements/ arguments on this board that now seem silly:

Certainly more family friendly. Quite a few people have said how getting home before 10pm or around 10pm gets more kids into the park. I didn't like it at first but now yea, preferred. Get the games over at a reasonable time.- Grant Taylor set to join White Sox in HOU
This is just conjecture from Hahn fanboys and nobody has said KW was a flawless GM -- you just made that up. As I've said a million times, if Hahn was so unhappy that he didn't have full control of baseball operations (again, this is just speculation) he could have resigned anytime and implied as such in any statement.- Grant Taylor set to join White Sox in HOU
People forget that a big reason KW wasn't able to build any sort of farm in the latter half of his tenure is JR's underslot draft preferences and unwillingness to spend anything in LA when it was a massive advantage to have facilities down there. I partially put the Wilder fiasco on JR, because LA wasn't important and Wilder was probably just a downstream effect of trying to do it half assed on the cheap. He was a perfectly cromulent GM that did what he could and delivered some great iconic Sox players and one iconic Sox WS winner. The only one all of us have ever seen. Getz inherited Hahn's White Sox. Not KWs. Don't go there either.- Shane Smith day: Sox @ Astros 6/10 7:10 CDT
ESPN predictor has this one 59/41 Astros. For our club, that's about as good of odds as you can find on a road win. Lets hope Smith can deliver a big 6 innings and the offense can pick him up along with the pen.- Two often repeated statements/ arguments on this board that now seem silly:
Maldy, Palacios, Clevinger, DeLoach, Rojas, Julks, Amaya, Capra, Pillar, Grossman, etc.- Two often repeated statements/ arguments on this board that now seem silly:
there's like a dozen counter examples to tauchmann it's not even worth listing all of them. we have like 5 position player WAR. I mean the bar is low but come on.- Montgomery next?...
I'm 100% for that plan. I don't know what the arm strength metrics are, maybe it's just max velocity and by that measure Chase is below average for a SS -- but he gets in such great fielding positions that it really doesn't matter that much. Only time it burns him is on the occasional double play where he's flat footed at 2B. He has certainly passed the eye test and the metrics test so far. He's made 95% of the plays needed of all sorts, that's all you can ask from a SS.- Montgomery next?...
Yea I really don't know how you take him off SS. He's playing an above average MLB SS. There is no guarantee Colson is even in the same ballpark at SS. I'd give Colson probably another month to cook down in AAA and let Meidroth continue to play SS everyday in Chicago for now.- Two often repeated statements/ arguments on this board that now seem silly:
Tauchmann's OPS dropped 100 points in a week and he's a career dead average hitter who will be 35 in a October. I have no idea why people are crowing so hard about that signing. Congrats, you got a month of pixie dust from a veteran on a team careening towards 110 losses.- Latest Vaughn news...
Not every player has to be a chiseled Adonis but at the very least a player should be adding explosion and power going from 23-27. Vargas did it. Chase should be looking to do it. Sosa is in the process of doing it and so on. Vaughn just looks like a guy that goes to the gym, does a few dumb bell sets and goes to play 18. Fine for a weekend warrior, but as a pro athlete not going to cut it. I don't believe the non sense about having a "tapped out" frame coming out of college. With modern nutrition, supplements and lifting methods anybody can continue putting on muscle into their mid 20s, don't even need the anabolics.- Two often repeated statements/ arguments on this board that now seem silly:
It was also maybe 3-4 voices out of the few dozen regulars that post here. I just read the preseason prediction thread, most people were going with around 50-60. Maybe two said we had any chance to be worse than last year. The team is still really bad. We've gone from historically bad to just really bad. Wake me up when we have a team capable of winning 90 games and competing for a division title. We're still 30 WAR away from that.- GT: Sox vs Royals 1:10 PM CHSN
off the end of the bat, damnit.- GT: Sox vs Royals 1:10 PM CHSN
come on bro.- GT: Sox vs Royals 1:10 PM CHSN
not sure i've seen chase get a bad hop at SS, dude is just all over the ball off the bat. - Shane Smith day: Sox @ Astros 6/10 7:10 CDT
