  1. QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 27, 2015 -> 03:00 PM) Orioles lineup https://twitter.com/EddieInTheYard/status/5...1371136/photo/1 It kinda burns me that De Aza has had some success with them. That lineup doesn't scare me though. Hopefully they got all their hits out of the system yesterday.
  2. QUOTE (raBBit @ Apr 27, 2015 -> 02:35 PM) You guys should check out those Baltimore riots on YouTube/reddit. In Ferguson the rioters were just breaking windows and stealing but in Baltimore the rioters were going at civilians. Instigating fights and all. It was pretty messed up stuff. Not defending their behavior but the BPD is such a racist, POS org (and yes I know the chief is black) and people in Baltimore have lived with it for so long that it was only a matter of time before something like this boiled over. Anyways, go Sox and yea, be careful if you're going to the game. The area around the stadium is usually safe but who knows this week.
  3. QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 26, 2015 -> 09:18 PM) Is it Danks? gotta be robertson. edit: nope
  4. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 26, 2015 -> 08:38 PM) What has the weather been like in April? The ball carries in USCF a lot differently in the summer months (June-August) than April through mid-May and mid to late September. Many of those balls coming up just short at the fence, like the one Melky Cabrera speared, are going to be homers instead. LOL. You are resorting to blaming the weather. The facts are the facts the pen has been good.
  5. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Apr 26, 2015 -> 08:35 PM) Just looking at this: CL - Robertson SU - Duke SU - Petricka MR - Putnam MR - Jennings MR - Rodon LR - Carroll Albers and Guerra are on the DL, but can come back soon. Crain and Jones can hopefully be back mid-season. Then a plethora of minor league arms that seem like that are growing. Night and day from last year. Exactly. Pretty much what Hahn said would happen -- that signing Duke and Robertson would line everything up -- is happening. I like it. I am excited for this pen it could be a real asset with how guys are throwing. Hopefully the offense can take some pressure off along the way as well.
  6. THEY ARE 5TH IN THE AL IN ERA AND 4TH IN OPPONENT OPS. They play in a hitter's park. Jesus man, wtf else do you want? And who cares about the NL can't compare the stats no DH. They are upper tier in the AL after being arguably the worst pen in the AL last year.
  7. I dunno I feel pretty damn good about the pen right now compared to last year's arguably "worst in baseball" -- simply "solid with upside to be good" is nice. Robertson has been one of the best closers in baseball for half a dozen years he's not going to turn into a pumpkin at 30. Duke's story is well known and he's been very effective as well early. A good closer and setup guy can paper over a lot of other weaknesses. But right now the Sox have a lot of guys that are throwing strikes even down to the 5th and 6th guys. At a certain point yea they are going to regress but just enjoy that what they've done already counts. Imagine if Robertson had blown 1 or 2 of these games but that's why they gave him 50 million isn't it? There is value at the margins and elite closers are worth paying. So far, Hahn's pen makeover looks good.
  8. Caulfield: Rodon will have to go to the pen at some point probably just because of innings. I'd rather see him work as a starter now and deal with any innings limit down the road but it is what it is. It also makes sense to let Danks and Noesi try and build any trade value they might have. Obviously that's a long shot but John Danks actually looked pretty damn good today. If he can keep it up, he might just be an asset. Unlikely but today was the best he's looked imo since before the injury.
  9. Dude...let's play some games this year.
  10. QUOTE (TitoMB @ Apr 24, 2015 -> 07:55 PM) the smelling salts mean he knocked the wind out of himself. how? I thought he hurt his oblique when he lunched but then he hit the ground hard by his upper chest. Looks like he just got shaken up.
  11. are you kidding me he just got shaken up???? Wow, thought he just tore his oblique
  12. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 24, 2015 -> 05:44 PM) Yeah pretty clear he did and the Sox are trying to keep it quiet not a good look.
  13. QUOTE (LDF @ Apr 24, 2015 -> 03:02 PM) and what you are saying may very well be true, but each game actions should be based on that game. not a historical summation of what he has done in the past. calling him an idiot and with any adjective added.... well i will agree. he is, but you can't blame him for being born like that. Uh no. This is his 3rd offense this season. A message needs to be sent with a 10 game suspension. He's clearly a mental midget that takes offense to the dumbest things during a game (like Eaton apparently stalling outside the box) and he's been directly involved in quite a bit of asshatery. I can call him an idiot all I want because that's what he is.
  14. You guys should relax on Avi man he's 23 and having his first real first season in MLB. If he stinks after 100 games then we have a real problem but it's way too early to write him off. This team has a lot bigger problems right now than Avi.
  15. This really sucks. Ventura's dumb ass started the whole thing and the Sox, as they are prone, go way over board in the response (Sale and Shark come off as complete meathead morons imo) and will probably bear the brunt of the consequences wrt to suspension. It pisses me off man. It really does. This season is just a f***ing train wreck so far. AND THEY BLEW THE GAME TOO. EDIT: VENTURA DOES NOT DESERVE ONE SINGLE BENEFIT OF THE DOUBT. HE IS THE COMMON DENOMINATOR IN THESE BRAWLS. f*** HIM.
  16. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 23, 2015 -> 10:22 PM) I know it is not PC but sometimes you need some meat head No wonder KC is full of success lately. They are over flowing with them.
  17. The Royals contact rate plus the Sox' defense is just a nightmare match up. Russian Roulette.
  18. I put the chances of a 1,2,3 inning at about 1%.
  19. QUOTE (Bigsoxhurt35 @ Apr 23, 2015 -> 09:41 PM) Lol at LaRoche nasty pitch
  20. Jesus, Jose almost just ripped the fabric of space and time on the wall in CF. That is gonna leave a mark.
  21. I like Melky man he's an emotional player love it. Way to show some emotion and get the fans going.
