QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Apr 21, 2015 -> 08:04 PM) You don't have to call for a high fastball after every 0-2 count Flowers. bury one in the dirt outside -

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Apr 21, 2015 -> 08:00 PM) Honestly, I'm sure someone will call hindsight on me, but I would have strongly considered the double steal during Melky's at-bat. On a night like this, I feel like it's worth being extra aggressive on the base-paths, at least as long as Carrasco is pitching. I agree, why the hell not? -

Melky did a good job to go and get it too bad he'd have been better striking out. Oh well, I'm encouraged. They are hitting some balls sharply and Eaton bunting for a hit is nice to see. -

when Noesi has some semblance of command a decent changeup he's not half bad. Problem is so far he rarely has it. He did have a decent 2nd half last year. -

QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Apr 21, 2015 -> 06:56 PM) Add that to it being a Monday night down 3-0 in the 9th, you don't get many people left. it's a bad visual that's for sure. -

QUOTE (raBBit @ Apr 21, 2015 -> 06:46 PM) When I worked with Sox Sales team they had stressed the importance of filling the seats that are shown on TV. You're essentially Kramer at the Oscars. lol. My Tigers fan buddy and I were watching the 9th last night drunk and he was just ripping the crowd I could do nothing but just laugh myself. I get the weather is bad but come on this is (on paper) an exciting team. -

Some quick fWAR numbers: Jose -- .3 Gordon .3 Avi .2 Tyler .2 Sanchez .1 Soto .1 everyone else is negative or at 0. Not very good offensive start. Micah, Alexei, Conor, Eaton and Melky need to step it up big time. Melky is showing signs we'll see about the other guys. Fangraphs like Eaton's defense so far but -5.2 runs with the bat already. Yikes. -

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 21, 2015 -> 03:39 PM) Why not "fettucine" like Alfredo Griffin? I can't spell that s***. -
QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Apr 21, 2015 -> 02:23 PM) We disagree often, but we are in 100% agreement over this. Not really even a blip for me. I'd drop 4 of 6 to the Cubs every year if you could guarantee me a playoff berth still. As a Sox fan not in Chicago the amount of references to the Cubs from fans IN CHICAGO drives me nuts. I mean, I get it. It's worse when you're there. I'm lucky I moved out of Michigan or MSU fans would never let me hear the end of their last few years. That said, when you win a walkoff like last night and Kris Bryant shows up in the winner thread -- GTFO. I don't give a s*** about the Cubs, and other than the 6 times they play they have no relevance to any sort of enjoyment I get out of being a Sox fan.

QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Apr 21, 2015 -> 02:50 PM) Is that his real nickname or just one you gave him? Any pitcher can look like a CY Young pitcher for a start or two in their career. Didn't Noesi do 8 innings last year? Well his names Alfredo and he has a gut so I'm going with "Pasta". -

QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Apr 21, 2015 -> 01:32 PM) Nah. Noesi is going 9 innings of 0 run ball. That would be nice. After watching Afredo "Pasta" Simon throw 8 innings of 1 run ball I'm convinced anyone can do it. -

Will we see Rodon today? -
QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Apr 21, 2015 -> 01:37 PM) Great Grantland piece on Carlos Rodon: http://grantland.com/the-triangle/mlb-carl...cago-white-sox/ Thanks for that but like most of their stuff it left me wanting less oratory and more actual analysis. Oh well. Rodon has a filthy slider, write poems to it. I just hope he contributes to a playoff team this year.

Sox make changes to review process

QUOTE (ptatc @ Apr 21, 2015 -> 01:32 PM) There was nothing wrong with Jeff and the athletic training staff. Her coming in to be the "supervisor" for a couple of the players has really made a current mess out of things. Not necessarily her fault as she was put in a difficult position but you will see changes after this season. Uh, there's no way the Deng situation was not a colossal f***up. He could have died thanks to the Bulls. -

QUOTE (LDF @ Apr 21, 2015 -> 01:27 PM) i will grant and understand what you are saying, my point, this is totally excusable screw up. this is an error on the logistics side to baseball. the buck stop with the owners group, and their people who was place in charge of overseeing such minor details as this. any major corporations have what is call check and balance dept. this make the sox org looks really bad.... just imagine what i am saying, not the rant, but the imagine this portrays thru out the baseball world. laughing stocks is what i see. Trust me, I'm with you. It's an inexcusable f***up. If I was in charge I would have fired Robin after the game. The buck has to stop with the CEO and the CEO (Robin in this case) failed the entire org. Yes there were "holes in the swiss cheese" that lined up a long the way but in any analysis you have a chance to make it all right by the no brainer, 9th inning, "use it or lose it" challenge. That Robin didn't use his challenge will remain one of the biggest mysteries of the season. If the Sox miss the playoffs by one game you can easily point to the 2 games last week where Robin actively screwed them and say "sorry, but not sorry, don't let the door hit your ass on the way out". Get a real manager for '16. -
One of the most rousing victories I can remember. At least for one inning, corpseball died. Everyone can now see why Avi maintains a BABIP in the 330s -- dude hits a lot hard ground balls and semi liners and his approach allows him to make good contact throughout the zone. Yes you'd like to see him yank that hanging curve out of the park sooner rather than later, but I will take oppo doubles for now. Great approach by everyone that inning and you see why you never ask guys to bunt when the closer is having problems locating. Eaton hung tough and came through. Ditto Melky. Under the circumstances that 2-2 take from Melky was one of the greatest takes I've seen. That was a perfectly located, nasty slider and you see now the talent Melky has coming through in that AB. That said, it's nice to run into a team that values defense even less than the Sox. If Bourne is in CF none of this happens. Alexei's ball should be an out 9 times out of 10 for a MLB outfielder. Luckily, Cle decided they didn't need a MLB quality CF that inning. Thanks guys.

QUOTE (LDF @ Apr 21, 2015 -> 01:00 PM) this is bull crap, the FO should have anticipated this as they should have anticipated and review any, old or new process and keep them up to date. in other words, audit the procedures yearly. this is a multi million dollar company and they don't have this process establish?? Much like the Bulls' medical staff pre Jen it was a huge f***up and a crisis necessitates change. At the same time however a competent manager of any company -- Robin included -- fixes all the mistakes with a good executive decision. That the buck didn't stop with Robin is disheartening but at least they realized what a huge f***up it was rather than burying their heads in the sand. That said, much like the Bulls and injuries (sorry Luol) the damage has already been done. -
Think I'll schedule a root canal for this afternoon this s*** show won't seem so bad by comparison.
