8-14-15 Cubs vs Sox 3:10CDT (Hendricks vs Samardzija)
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 14, 2015 -> 04:55 PM) Pretty amazing Carlos is out-doubling Avisail with a significant deficit in at-bats. Carlos has a pretty quick bat. Melky needs to give him some vitamins this offseason.

Eaton gets f***ed so many times on the corners. Umps just can't get lefties right sometimes.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 14, 2015 -> 04:53 PM) I am not sure why people take "could be" when talking about prospects, and then get pissed when it doesn't happen. Those are ceilings, not promises. The vast majority of guys don't hit their ceilings. exactly.

QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Aug 14, 2015 -> 04:46 PM) No but he doesn't need to be. 20/10 guy would be fine. He will probably hit 15 home runs this year and he will continue to get better. those are outdated metrics anyways he needs to be a 2.0 war player. To get there he either needs to slash 280/330/480 or slash like he is and massively improve his defense and baserunning. I'm betting on his bat turning into an asset and his defense never getting any better than passable in RF.

I always enjoyed playing in the heat personally. So much easier to play at 90 then say 50. Everything is loser.

QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Aug 14, 2015 -> 04:43 PM) Exactly. He should be in left field or DH. I'd try and see how he is at 1B next spring, tell him to take some ground balls or play in the winter league and take some reps there.

QUOTE (Knackattack @ Aug 14, 2015 -> 04:40 PM) I mean he ran into one there but I'm going to continue to bash him. He is a really bad player He didn't "run into one" he f***ing pulled his hands in, rotated his hips and drove a rocket into the gap for 2 RBI. If he can hit any inside fastball like that consistently, even ones at 89-91 he's gonna solve a lot of his problems at the plate. f*** la roach clip.

Chris Tannehill/Score trying to make Harrelson look bad...?
QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Aug 13, 2015 -> 07:40 PM) Hawk deserves to be criticized. What he said was f***ing stupid and wrong. It's embarrassing quite frankly. close the thread. Hawk is one of the most coddled people in all of professional sports, let alone broadcasting. At the rate he's going (and the Sox club) he's gonna have a "woodie hayes" like moment IMO or at least be a complete embarrassment like Harry Carry.. I love the old coot but it's time to cut that cord and to be upset about someone calling out Hawk, well that's just insane because the man never, ever gets called out for anything that matters. The closest I've seen in the media is some stuff from Jim at SSS.

QUOTE (harkness @ Aug 12, 2015 -> 10:38 PM) So when players make tactical mistakes you can't blame the coaching staff? Say what? It's not like this is an isolated incident. Team's just not mentally into games. Players change, the manager hasn't. Same story for 4 years now.

QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Aug 12, 2015 -> 08:44 PM) Another hit from Trayce. he seems to do a good job staying back verse lefties, great wrist cock action barrel goes right to the ball.

are you f***ing serious? Jesus, I'm not sure what was worse the send or the baserunning. AVOID THE TAG MAKE THE UMP CALL YOU OUT OF THE BASELINE.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 12, 2015 -> 07:07 PM) Toronto already blasting the A's 10-2 early...who'd a thunk the Astros and Angels would be in more jeopardy two weeks ago? many people. There's no elite teams this year. Playing .540 baseball or whatever isn't a guarantee of anything. Hell, much better clubs than the 'stros and Angels have blown pennants before.

Fangraohs: Adam Eaton Is Up to Something
Good post Balta but I think it's simpler than that: he's sitting fastball more and driving them. Most of his homeruns have been on fastballs right? I'm thinking he's just more comfie the 2nd time around the league, older wise all that, and is probably letting it rip more often in favorable counts rather than trying to draw a walk or slap a single. FWIW, the pitch values back this up: he's done more damage on fastballs this year and less on offspeed.

it's really nice having a three solid defenders at 3b, ss and 2B. Too bad none of them can f***ing hit.

Hawk is right about Thompson's genes. Can't hurt to have brothers in the NBA, one a star, to help push you and give confidence.
