4/17 - White Sox vs Tigers

QUOTE (Dunt @ Apr 17, 2015 -> 05:12 PM) I'd slow down on that. SSS but dude he was on pace for 52 runs above average according to UZR. It was elite don't make any mistake we all watched him make the routine and the spactacular. He isn't going to be 50 runs above average but he's a top 1/3 MLB defender at 2B without a doubt. My guess is he's 10 runs above league average and maybe 15-20 better than Micah over the course of the year. Anyways, back to s***ting on the real villain, robin. -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 17, 2015 -> 05:00 PM) Bonifacio and Beckham both should be in the lineup against tough lefties like this. You could pretty easily convince me that Micah, Gillaspie, and LaRoche should all have taken a seat today. If Micah is going to sit against tough lefties he should be in AAA. If he's the future at 2B he's going to be a regular. Regulars play against tough matchups. It's why they are regulars. Of course, on the evidence, he's not a MLB ready 2B. So yea, not only is he not playing every day in the hopes he can improve against tough lefties, he's not in AAA either. Good job White Sox you've completely f***ed it up! Meanwhile all Sanchez does is outhit Micah in spring, play an elite 2B in his cup of coffee last year, and he gets sent to AAA. After Ramirez' comments today they might have a full on mutiny on their hands. -

QUOTE (daggins @ Apr 17, 2015 -> 04:59 PM) It really sucks to realize that the team you have supported for years is terminally dumb at all levels. It sucks even harder knowing it didn't have to be this way. They could have easily sold RV's record as poor and justified a new hire. Instead they extended him and from all indications it was for more than just 2015. Yea dude, it sucks. -

QUOTE (GreenSox @ Apr 17, 2015 -> 04:56 PM) Why is Bonifacio starting at 2nd? Johnson needs to play every day. I have never seen an organization love its medicore declining veterans like this organization. apparently the best time to give the regulars rest is right after the off day. He also benched Garcia AFTER the off day the other day. It's like he's managing with a f***ing dart board. -

QUOTE (shysocks @ Apr 17, 2015 -> 04:52 PM) Very true, Robin had nothing to lose. But specifically in terms of trusting your players and all that, your guy's word isn't always ironclad. I think given Ramirez's post game comments he doesn't think much of Robin. It's much, much deeper than just this play. I wonder if he told him in English "IT'S THE 9TH INNING YOU f***ING DUMMY CHALLENGE YOU HAVE NOTHING TO LOSE". -

QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 17, 2015 -> 04:48 PM) Challenges are just much less tactical or needed in baseball. and it's the NINTH inning, not the first. If the manager thinks his challenges are like cell phone minutes and carryover he should be s***canned. HE HAD NOTHING TO LOSE. It doesn't f***ing matter if there was .00000000000000000000000001 chance of an overturn because the video guy in NYC was getting a hummer under the desk and just misses it -- YOU f***ING CHALLENGE ANYWAY. god I'm so angry over this. It just sucks having such a brain dead manager. Ozzie would have challenged that s*** and he sucked in his own way but at least he knows enough to challenge in the 9th when the game is on teh f***ing line. -

QUOTE (mmmmmbeeer @ Apr 17, 2015 -> 04:40 PM) Leadership 101, pass the buck. Errr... Wow. This could very well be his waterloo. Pathetic lack of accountability. OWN UP YOU f***ING SOB. -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 17, 2015 -> 04:36 PM) Not in the least. Not one bit. Not one iota. It's literally what I expected. We've seen it 2 years in a row, why would I epxect anything different this year. Heres me calling a well below .500 season after a crappy start in the predictions thread. Manager wants to impress now? Get his team back in gear and turn this around. They're already calling him out publicly. Could still happen, but... When we get to tar and feather Robin in Millenium Park I want dibs on 2nd behind you. You called it man. Any lotto advice?

QUOTE (scs787 @ Apr 17, 2015 -> 04:40 PM) Doesn't Robin get word from someone who actually watched the replay? The replays I saw up until the one Tito posted clearly looked like he missed the tag, perhaps those were the same replays whoever makes the decision saw? I'd put a bunch of the blame on whoever that person is. If this has been brought up, my apology, I skipped a million pages. He got word from his respected, All-Star, vet SS and ignored it. That's the kicker. -

QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Apr 17, 2015 -> 04:38 PM) Once again just to point out. With the game winning walk off run on second and nobody out THERE IS NOTHING TO LOSE THERE. All other points and counterpoints are irrelevant. The IBB seems to be mystical thought in the White Sox dugout as well as the use of video review. Go back to the Orioles game last year and the play at theplate you would think Robin would just say f*** it who knows maybe we win. You're right Harry. Ramirez knows it. We all know it. Robin doesn't know it. The one guy that has to know it didn't. It's his job to know to challenge or have someone smart enough next to him (Mark Parent, you're fired as well) to tell him to challenge. Broom the entire coaching staff other than Steverson and Cooper. Yes, I'm including Coleman, Baines and McEwing. -

QUOTE (mmmmmbeeer @ Apr 17, 2015 -> 04:37 PM) That's quite a look into the locker room mentality of this team, imo. Alexei has been around long enough to know what he was doing in that interview. Exactly. A not so very coded message to the guys that sign everyone's checks -- including RV's -- that something is rotten. -

good for Ramirez. -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 17, 2015 -> 04:26 PM) FWIW, I don't think it's shocking at all, it's basically what I expected. Yea but you must be surprised at how sloppy they area? I mean, it's been a f***ing horror show of mental errors. It's one thing to lose and play a good clean game. It's another to lose and make 2-3 head scratching errors.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 17, 2015 -> 04:29 PM) If you are one of the posters who said he was safe for 10 min before seeing the other angle then you would have said dont challenge as well so dont act like you also made a split second decision. Thats a video crew fail, umpire fail and manager fail all rolled into one. Yea but it falls on the team CEO -- Robin -- to make all of that irrelevant with a smart use of replay. It was a no brainer. But, you know, so is callign off the bunt sign with 2 strikes in the 9th. But hey, that's just a fan talking. -

considering Avi is one of the few guys that has showed f***ing anything at the plate this year yea, let's start having him dive again. Think dude. He's worth more playing than not playing and we don't want to lose a potential 300/20/20 guy because of diving in the outfield. If anything it's Chicago's fault for not already moving him to left or 1B. -

QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 17, 2015 -> 04:21 PM) Yeah, this one is not playing out well. Lexi in retrospect tagged him right on the foot which isn't a bad way to tag a guy and not get yourself hurt. It was a simple tag and Lexi made it. The fact Robin a.) didn't challenge. b.) didn't trust Lexi. c.) didn't even walk the batter to give the team a shot at a fluke double play, makes this game one the team is gonna have to forget in a hurry. I mean what was Robin thinking having Duke pitch to the righty with a man on third and one out in a tie game in bottom of ninth? Somebody educate me on that one. ONLY HOPE is the K or popup with a lefty against a righty who plays for a first-place team and is not going to f*** up. Great post Greg. The worst part of this is that he didn't trust Ramirez. I mean, dude, you don't trust Alexei Ramirez to know if he tagged him? Ramirez is many things, but a ballplayer is one of them and you f***ING TRUST YOUR VETS. -
QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Apr 17, 2015 -> 04:15 PM) This team has taken on a passive persona on the field. Gee where would that come from? It's obvious that nobody plays with any sense of urgency for Robin. Ozzie had his faults (big time faults don't get me wrong) but the one thing you could say is that he almost always had his guys ready to play and would go to bat for them against the umps, other team, and media. Robin never has his guys ready to play, hardly ever sticks up for them when the umps screw up, and his media handling ability is gonna get really tested if this team is 10 under in July.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 17, 2015 -> 04:13 PM) Seems managers are putting a lot of heat on video crews in determining whether or not to challenge. In my mind, since the throw beat the runner by so much and umps used to call that an automatic out when the throw beat the runner, I'd challenge 100 percent of those type plays no matter what my video guy told me. I mean s***, the throw beat the runner by so much, u gotta challenge. You challenge because you have literally nothing to lose. That he didn't realize that is moronic. -

Fire his ass yesterday. Pathetic. YOU HAVE NOTHING TO LOSE WHO CARES IF THE SOX STAFF THOUGHT IT WAS INCONCLUSIVE. Robin is brain dead and a wilting flower. Stand up for you team dude and challenge it. He f***ing sucks. I can go on and on but really Robin??? REALLY?????????????

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 17, 2015 -> 04:03 PM) As far as I could tell the White Sox broadcast did not get that view. Only way it wouldn't get overturned is if NY didn't get that view, which they might not have? they are supposed to get all the views. This entire staff deserves the BROOM. -
