  1. Melky is surging. If Avi can hit a little and they get something out of the infield other than Jose maybe they can turn it around. I will say this: to be 5 under at this point feels like a miracle and maybe things aren't quite as bad as we thought with 90 losses. Even if they win like 80 that's an improvement. The pythag isn't there by the pitching is pretty damn good. If the offense and defense could just not be league worst bad they could get to .500 IMO.
  2. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jul 9, 2015 -> 04:36 PM) I don't believe this team is going to the postseason this year, but I believe the top four in the rotation are too good to consider trading any of them. You always have a chance to compete with those four. Except for when you have a historically awful defense and offense. Doh.
  3. I can't believe this team is "only" 5 under. There's literally zero reasons other than blind optimism to think they will run off something like 14 of 20, but if they do, hell, they are right f***ing there.
  4. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jul 9, 2015 -> 03:56 PM) Jeff Sullivan ‏@based_ball 20h20 hours ago White Sox position players in July have been worth 0.0 WAR, which is the group's best month of the season LMAO. You cannot make this ish up.
  5. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jul 9, 2015 -> 02:59 PM) So if Alexei happens to go on the DL who plays SS? I hope it isn't Beckham. I would rather bring up Saladino come play SS or bring up Micah and have Carlos play SS This is so obvious they won't ever consider it.
  6. Yep it's more than time to bring Micah up. Hell, move Sanchez to SS while we are at it and see if he has the arm to play there. Like it's time to ditch Conor and Alexei as everyday players. Conor is a fine backup bad starter.
  7. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jul 9, 2015 -> 02:53 PM) GB under .200 Nobody saw it coming!
  8. I'm so glad they are gonna waste 300 AB on Gordon Beckham this year.
  9. What a joke this org is. PUT HIM IN TEH f***ING PEN OR DFA HIM. Jesus, admit that the injury f***ed him and your plans and it's a SUNK COST. My god, there has never, ever been a pitcher that came back and was worth a s*** from this injury. Good on Danks for working his ass off even to come back and pitch in MLB again but it's over for him.
  10. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 8, 2015 -> 01:16 PM) I would be content with that as well. He has terrible mechanics at the plate, and when you add the bad pitch recognition, you have the ingredients for a mediocre hitter. If Justin Smoak can turn it around... Not saying Avi ever will but he's cheap and they have nobody else to replace him so you have nothing to lose by letting him try and click with a new staff.
  11. Good posts. I'm all for trading Q and Jeff. Get some position players.
  12. The 2nd wild card is going to help the Sox so much this trading deadline. 20 or so odd teams are gonna think they are in it and with the pitching FA market not looking so hot either the Sox should be able to squeeze at least a couple B level prospects out of someone for Shark. Nothing that's going to help right away most likely but that will be a solid return.
  13. QUOTE (ptatc @ Jul 7, 2015 -> 03:54 PM) I wouldn't be too sure of that. There are many franchises that keep executives around in lesser roles. IMO the Sox are far from one of the worst franchises in baseball. However, as I stated, he isn't going anywhere until he decides it's time. Since 2008 or so, they've been one of the worst franchises in baseball. No ifs, ands or buts about it IMO.
  14. I agree with SS2K: the entire team is pressing. I'd have rather RV ordered everyone to go get drunk, hookup with some slumpbusters, sleep it off and show up an hour before the game.
  15. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 7, 2015 -> 03:22 PM) Jay Cutler is the best quarterback the Bears have ever had And George Herbert Bush was the best president the Bush's ever produced.
  16. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jul 6, 2015 -> 01:26 PM) You clearly are a jinx person if you truly believe someone here is doing something that will effect the outcome of anything Sale does. We're just a few of perhaps thousands of fans talking about Chris Sale and his chances at winning an award. Fine, forget that. The absurdity of giving him the Cy Young on July 7th is silly and should be tabled until Sep.
  17. wow, I'm not a "jinx" person but can we not do this to Chris Sale...
  18. It's called pressing and the entire team does it. RV seems absolutely clueless when it comes to getting his guys ready to play. Now, this is something controversial -- what does "ready to play" even mean anyways? Well, we've seen it with 4 different rosters now so while I can't precisely say what it means I can very well see that RV seems to lack the leadership required to have his guys ready on a daily basis.
  19. Best fans in baseball! LMAO, Chris Sale is a top 15 pitcher in baseball??? Hahahahahahahahahaha. And Mike Trout is a top 15 hitter!
  20. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jun 29, 2015 -> 05:44 PM) The Chicago Sun-Times is calling for the return of Ozzie Guillen Oh great. He quit on the team he's dead to me.
  21. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jun 29, 2015 -> 04:10 PM) These so called baseball expert analysts can say what they want. Baseball players are professional athletes and are ADULTS! If they don't perform you don't treat them like children you move them. Find someone else to play if you truly feel these guys can't perform. I just got done listening to similar stuff on MLB network. They have no idea what happened to the Sox and a couple said they had picked the Sox to win after their off season moves. The Sox effort yo win now appears to have failed big time and we have no back up plan as far as developing our own. They think the Sx picked poorly in the draft for a decade but the last couple years have shown good moves, but there are no major league ready position players. The Indians on the other hand are seen as being able to recover faster. Seems the Sox are doomed for last place for several years. They also are humans that enjoy a good workplace environment and respond to leadership both good and bad. There's plenty of reasons they suck but IMO the manager isn't part of the solution, so he's part of the problem.
  22. QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 28, 2015 -> 04:29 PM) 15-25 in the division. 14-27 on the road. Business as usual. Don't forget the public backing of Robin (2x by my count) and the public "blame game" by KW. Just another early summer on the south side.
  23. Fire Hawk as well. Everything about this franchise is staler than the hot dog buns they server in the upper deck.
  24. QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 28, 2015 -> 04:01 PM) I think some teams would just cut him a check for 6 mil and send him to Boca. Or better yet, pay his freight for a B- level A ball pitcher.
  25. I have rarely felt that JR runs an incompetent ship but right now I'm convinced of it. This team is clownshoes from JR all the way down. Wouldn't be surprised to see Hahn resign after the year.
