QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Aug 17, 2017 -> 08:36 PM) Yabba dabba doo! It's too bad the Sox aren't contending because he'd probably be September call up.

Jesus christ man Eloy is something else.

Leury Garcia becoming the best all around regular on the Sox is one of the most surprising f***ing things I have ever seen in baseball.

It's nice having some speed in the lineup.

Pretty good piece of hitting as well.

Darn.

Damn did not know lopez had a move like that, almost got him picked off.

Great baserunning from Engel. I don't know if the bat will ever play, but maybe he could be a 4th OF on the 2019/2020 teams.

I'll take credit for that reverse jinx thank you very much.

Lopez' changeup sucks tonight so far.

QUOTE (Real @ Aug 17, 2017 -> 07:30 PM) Wish this forum had the like option. Yea can we scrape up some coin for some development? I'd really like to see some more options to rep posts.

Yolmer needs roids.

Great throw.

Jose with the sloth like reflexes, jeez.

Yea count me in on the "young Yordano" vibe. WTF UMP YOU f***ING IDIOT GOODNESS

QUOTE (Tony @ Aug 17, 2017 -> 07:16 PM) HE'S DROWNING! HE'S DROWNING! somebody throw him a life raft.

lol, where's that dude now that was trashing him?

game going to start on time?

QUOTE (Scoots @ Aug 17, 2017 -> 07:36 PM) That dude just cannot stay healthy Time to sell high in the offseason. Might be able to get a B prospect for him.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 17, 2017 -> 04:26 PM) That is their offensive WAR numbers for this season. It is an apples to apples comparison of the offensive production. It doesn't even touch the defensive chasm between the two. Davidson, and FFS I can't believe I'm actually defending him, has a wRC+ of 102, Yolmer is in free fall and is sitting at 78. I love Yolmer's defense but from a purely offensive standpoint (which is pointless really because guys have to play defense...) Davidson is the better player. That said, Davidson putting up a 102 wRC+ has him at ZERO fWAR because he can't defend.

Star?! More like a BLACK HOLE (in the order) AMIRITE!

No reason to commit any long term money to him, no matter how little. He's not a guy that's going to get that expensive in arb anyways. He's the starting CF in 2018, let's see what he can do for an encore.

Good stuff here, Acuna and Eloy battling it out for #1 overall: http://razzball.com/minor-league-update-eloy-vs-acuna/

QUOTE (soxtalker999 @ Aug 17, 2017 -> 12:39 PM) I wonder how much leverage the Sox had in the negotiations. Did we ever learn whether Houston claimed him, or if he passed through waivers unclaimed? If the latter, the Sox could negotiate with any team. If the former, the Sox could only negotiate with Houston, and the only alternative to making a deal with them was to keep Clippard for the rest of the season. Also, I imagine that Clippard is far happier to be pitching for Houston than the Sox for the rest of this season. He has a chance at a championship. I would think that would be a good message to send to players that we might sign in the off-season -- if you sign with the Sox, they'll work with you and give you a chance to latch onto a contender in the middle of the season. Good points. There's only positives to this deal. Hahn has shown he's a hard worker.

I thought about making this its own topic: cratering the bullpen is a genius method of tanking. The bullpen is not only the most easily fixed component on the next good Sox team, it's also the area you can stack losses (like last night) while some of your younger guys show out like Rodon, Leury and Delmonico did. Just more credit to Hahn really.
