White Sox power outage
Elite SP and a good offense fueled by walks and good situational hitting. That’s where the +115 runs come from.

White Sox power outage
Just to clarify I was referring to the general discontent around Moncada and the weekly complaining here about the Sox' relative lack of HRs. Your thread here is at least open minded.

White Sox power outage
Fans are fickle and for the most part stupid, honestly. For a decade the Sox had a horrible team OBP and a bad offense. Now we have a great OBP and a good offense and moar homerz is the cry from a certain segment. Good grief.

I think we got some shares of "growth stocks". Let's hope they grow.

Is it time to give TLR his due? And maybe some apologies?
It's a team effort.

Vaughn v. Sheets v. Burger v. Mercedes
Yoan Moncada has 13.1 fWAR before age 27-29 (usually considered the absolute prime of a player's career) and on a rate basis is worth about 4 fWAR per 162 games. You are talking about trading him because a 25 year has had a nice half season in AAA and a half dozen decent MLB starts? You're insane dude. Like, there's no other way about it. What you're arguing isn't even a thing. There isn't a single team in MLB that would take Jake Burger over Yoan Moncada over the next 5 years. Yoan Moncada is one of the most 30 or so valuable players in MLB over the next few years as a trade asset thanks to his contract and ability. Jake Burger would barely net a decent reliever rental or maybe like a "B" grade low level minor leaguer if the Sox wanted to go that route. This is nothing against Jake Burger, he has made himself from an absolute zero, into a legit fringe MLB player with potential to be an solid everyday regular by the time he's 28 or so, but listen to yourself! That's all he is, a fringe MLB player at the moment. Yoan Moncada is a proven everyday star. You want to talk about Yoan's history of minor INJURIES as a reason to go with Jake? You gotta be bleeping me! Who is the guy with a twice shredded achilles? It ain't Yoan!

Houston Astros
I can't fucking stand them. The God thing with Correa and Altuve, where God is actively guiding them through this is particularly off putting. Yes, God, if there is a God, is personally directing the fortunes of two guys who were involved in a cheating scandal that was brazen and cynical, even for MLB standards. GMAFB.

White Sox select Colson Montgomery #22 overall
He’s got long levers see if he can put it together long term and make it work. Reports of his exit velocity with wooden bats had him good but not great from what I’m reading.

White Sox select Colson Montgomery #22 overall
From the vids I saw of his basketball he looked like a pretty bog standard mid major recruit. Maybe a generic high 2 star with offers from like the Western Michigans of the world. Not a bad player by any means, obviously good enough to play D1, but his future is obviously in baseball. Good athlete, maybe a bit stiff for a MLB SS at the moment but plenty of time to work on that. To me the biggest question I have is his arm, and the biggest selling point I see is that he hits lefty. A lefty hitter gets a big boost and even if as expected he does eventually move down the defensive spectrum, say to maybe 3B or RF, hitting lefty really ups his value. I don't pretend to know enough about the other options to say if he was a good pick relative to the players available at #22 but I can certainly see the upside with him as a multi sport athlete that is currently a SS and hits lefty.

honestly reminds me of TA a bit, different players obviously, but a similar profile in the back half of the 1st round as intriguing SS.
