Tribe @ Sox 5/30: Manny against Carrasco
chitownsportsfan replied to chitownsportsfan's topic in 2019 Season in Review
This Tribe team isn't very good, is it? -
I drive a 2004 Dodge Dakota base 4x4 model with a the older Dodge 3.7L V6. It's alright got a decent deal on it from a private seller about 5 years ago. Engine only has 105K miles on it just replaced water pump, serpentine belt, battery, spark plugs, distributor cap and spark plug wires on it a few thousand miles ago. The suspension is absolute shit although all my Forest Service road driving doesn't help. I've replaced the wheel bearings, tie rods, shocks and ball joints in the the last year. About $2K worth of work for the suspension and another 1K for the engine work. It's nice and reliable since I got the work done and that will probably be the last money I put into it. It's been good to me and as noted put some tough miles on it going out hiking and backpacking in the PNW. Blue Book on it it's like $2-4K (interior is in good shape all the power windows and locks shit is working and I put in a nice head unit). I think I'm just going to trade it in a few years when it needs more work and get another truck. Not sure what model but budget will probably be around 10-15k. Don't like taking long car loans like to pay mostly in cash. Maybe a F150, seems like Ford is making decent trucks again.

Yea he certainly seemed to be implying that there's more at stake than just winning that night. Just an odd quote. I think it was summed up by the guy that said it was a long winded explanation to distract.
-
That quote is unreal. He's in his own god damn world. So you thought he had one more in him (which in itself is inexplicable given we all have eyes and could see he had nothing but smoke and mirrors all night) AND you failed to have anybody warming up? I'm sorry but that's not good enough for a MLB manager. And it's not the 1st time it's happened.

Leury García player value question

Leury García player value question
chitownsportsfan replied to Greg Hibbard's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Sorry I forgot a big qualifier and that's to see what happens the next 90 so games. He's "on pace' for about 2.5 fWAR, which would be a career high. Cost per win on the FA market is about 9/10 million so in today's financial environment it might make sense. Personally I love guys that can cover CF and SS, I think they are incredibly valuable on contenders. -
Leury García player value question

I'd love to offer him something like 4 years 30 million with a club option for the 5th at like 10 million. He is incredibly valuable once Robert is the starting CF as he can cover SS/2B as well as any OF spot and will clear the 25 man for a dedicated platoon corner guy or DH. -
Yea that's the spirit. At this point he looks like pitching depth which is OK. If he's the 5th starter in 2021 forward that's not the worst thing in the world. Sox needed to get one TOR starter from the Eaton deal and although it's not the one we expected they got one. If Gio turns into a borderline ace solid / #2 and Lopez is an average 5th starter getting arb raises there are worse outcomes from that deal. Lopez would also be helped by using an opener from time to time. He seems to have about 15 batters or 4 innings where he's lively enough with the fastball to be effective. Until he gets more comfie with his off speed stuff he can't face an order the third time through.
-
whatever he was told should have included "hey moron, have someone warming up". That's the real rub with the situation last night.
-
He threw 117 pitches, many of them high stress. You don't have to be a baseball lifer to know he had little outside of an at times effectively wild fastball night and was cruising for a bruising after the 5th inning. It was a bad decision for many reasons, including developing Lopez.

Trust me living in Seattle there is one thing that has given me great solace and and that is the sad sack franchise that is the Seattle Mariners. It could always be worse. Talk about not having any pitching. The Mariners have no pitching. And their defense makes the Sox look like a team of gold glovers at every position (Narvaez had a horrible play the other day allowing two runs to score on a ball he shorthopped to 3rd). They do have Kelenic but that's about it. Sheffield looks like a 4th starter type.

you earned it I'm just happy to get the sweep despite renteria's idiocy with lopez.
-
A bunch of stupid shit happened in this game. The Sox managed to come out on top. Swept their asses.
-
Team defense is night and day better than a month ago. Leury is really settling in as the everyday CF. Stay healthy.
-
one only has to look at the kahnle deal to see why a top 50 prospect is a pipe dream. relievers, even good closers, just don't get much.
-
cool fam hope for a top 100 guy.
-
lol for a reliever on a one year deal? Hope for a top 150 guy.
-
if only our FO had this urgency 6 months ago.
-
yea these guys are a laugh a minute.
-
fuck off KC.

So does his OPS have to go below 550 before he gets moved out of the auto cleanup spot?
