  1. The lineup is fine. It's the 25 man roster that needs work.
  2. It's early but the umps seems to be giving him more respect this year, especially on the inside corner. Moncada has a really good eye he should get the benefit of the doubt more often than not from the ump. If he doesn't have to cover an extra 3 inches inside like last year it's going to make his bat a lot quicker.
  3. 11:10 AM start here, what's it your time like 9:10 PM start? If nothing else it's nice to have only one obvious butcher in the field with Eloy. Would love to see Lopez come out at 94-96 and get some strikeouts.
  4. If he hits and plays defense like some people think, including most of Fangraphs, his college coach and so on then he can call himself the Nick Mother Fucking Madrigal for all I care.
  5. It's a really small thing but I also wonder why they even bothered to tender Covey a contract. He's wasting a 40 man spot now.
  6. Good, at least Ruiz has some success in AA as a reliever posting 55K against 19 walks with only 33 hits in 45.1 innings. How'd he look this spring?
  7. I think we're seeing the crash out and it's unfortunate we also have to see him play RF as it happens.
  8. They are really feeling their oats in Seattle and I think they might be in for a rude awakening. The Mariners pitching staff, on paper, looks as bad or even worse than Chicago's. Chicago should be able to score some runs in this series.
  9. Palka shouldn't be on the roster and Alonso is a solid player -- both are true. It's frustrating that once again the Sox have too many shitty DH types on the 25 man but that's not Alonso's fault as he's actually a crumulent 1B/DH.
  10. Some cool things are happening offensively and Rodon, Gio and Nova have all looked pretty good. That said the defense will continue to be god awful and the bullpen + ricky is like bleach and ammonia anarchist cookbook shit explosive. It's been entertaining so far, I'll give them that.
  11. I'm with you there. But we've been over it and now they are playing with what they have which is probably about 75 win talent.
  12. they're 2-3, slow down a bit.
  13. Rick Hahn's "progress isn't always linear" echoing around the office today no doubt. I'm half surprised Jason didn't manage to get the talking point in. https://theathletic.com/904426/2019/04/03/yoan-moncada-carlos-rodon-show-more-balanced-approach-in-cleveland/?redirected=1
  14. it's a bit strange in that he did have good command despite being at 88-89. Maybe he's going through the dreaded "dead arm" phase a few weeks later than planned but I'd be scared shitless if I was a Sawx fan.
  15. yea and in 2012 I had a lot more hair on my head. Time moves on. he's hardly the player he was defensively in his youth.
  16. anyways, back to this game, good win. Offense and Rodon carried the day. Need to get TA back ASAP and Palka out of the starting lineup.
  17. Maybe for a year or two before he tore his ACL. He's been solid at 3B since hardly elite. https://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playerid=11493&position=3B
  18. he's mediocre at best at 3B and was a train wreck at SS. He's elite because he's a crazy good hitter high up on the defensive spectrum.
  19. It's really too bad what has happened with Nate Jones' career.
  20. hard to believe but this team could actually be 3-2 right now.
  21. As noted, if Yonder wants to have a good year at the plate he's welcome to stay. So far he's been impressive.
  22. Moncada is focused like never before. Man what a natural athlete.
  23. Anybody that thinks Ricky has a clue what he's doing with the pen should just be quiet. He spitballs it.
  24. So herrera is in in a 7 run game? I don't get Ricky man.
  25. Yonder sees a lot of pitches. I like that.
