4/4/18 GT: White Sox vs Blue Jays
chitownsportsfan replied to TheTruth05's topic in 2018 Season in Review
I see a 9-7 loss. -
Well this thread has gone off the rails so I figure I'll inject my two cents: the weather pattern you are seeing in the midwest and east coast is associated with a warmer arctic. Which is associated with climate change. Get used to late springs and blistering summers.

QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Apr 3, 2018 -> 10:23 PM) Worth noting that the White Sox have two pitchers in the minor leagues who project comfortably better than most pitchers appearing today, in Xavier Cedeno and Robbie Ross It really appears they are trying to tank again.

Another misplay.

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Apr 3, 2018 -> 09:53 PM) You still on that? You said an MLB CF needs to make. Me, CWS and another guy said no (in fact that percentage actually proves our point that most CFs don't even get to that ball). You're wrong, it happens. No, I said that an ELITE defensive, light hitting starting CF needs to make that play more.often.than.not. And I was right. I've watched a lot of f***ing baseball, more than Jason (played more too), my reaction was 100% to Jason, who was blabbing on and on about how hardly any other ML CF get to that ball. Engel overran the damn thing in the end.

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Apr 3, 2018 -> 09:51 PM) Does catch probability on a fly ball take into account shifts/where the fielder starts at, or is it purely based on batted ball stats? both really. https://www.mlb.com/news/statcast-introduce...017/c-217802340

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Apr 3, 2018 -> 09:49 PM) That might be the longest homer I've ever seen Yolmer hit. I saw a picture of him from spring training workouts and dude is absolutely jacked.
-
What a great quick swing from Yolmer.
-
I love Yolmer!
-
catch probability 41% on that engel drop so no, it really wasn't an extraordinary play. It wasn't routine. It was a play, as I said, that an "elite fielding", light hitting starting MLB CF needs to make more often than not. And credit Engel, he knows it, you could see it on his face.

nasty changeup.

TA is doing a great job of getting ahead in the count tonight.

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Apr 3, 2018 -> 09:39 PM) Davidson with a hell of a game. 0-4, 2 K, 1 DP, & 5 LOB. And this isn’t just normal game thread b****ing, I simply don’t believe he magically became a good hitter overnight. One 3 HR isn’t going to change my opinion. I'm completely with you. He's killed almost every rally tonight. He looks a little quicker to the ball but that's about it.

QUOTE (StrykerSox @ Apr 3, 2018 -> 09:41 PM) Who cares what people give a f*** about? Strikeouts aren’t bad because people dislike them; they’re bad because they guarantee you’re not going to get on base. Duh. Assume 700 PAs for Moncada. At his K rate, that’s 230 Ks. Assume 80 walks, leaving 620 ABs. I’ll give him 20 bombs and a .340 BABIP, that leaves him with 145 hits for a .235 BA. Do the OBP math and give him a .180 ISO, and he’s got an OPS of .740-ish (definitely not Cano, and not even Durham). And I was generous with BABIP- it just doesn’t take a demagogue to see him being a bust unless he cuts the Ks big time. And don’t bring Aaron Judge into this. Dude hit 52 bombs last year. And plays for the Yankees. There’s a big reason he’s turned into some kind of icon. an ops of 740 from your age 22 2B, assuming solid baserunning and defense is like a 2-3 WAR season. If he can OPS 840, that's like a 4 WAR season. You can see why people are excited...

Sick of Matt.
-
He can't find the zone. Don't help him out.
-
Good job Yoan.

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Apr 3, 2018 -> 09:21 PM) Because I don’t judge a player simply on their strikeout rate and I also assume that young players will get better with experience. Dude put up a 104 wRC+ in his rookie season despite a 32% K rate. As that K rate cuts down and the power plays up, the kid is going to be a beast offensively and has all the tools to be a stud defensively. He’s 22 year old for Christ sake and I’d argue he’s already an above average 2B. We must be watching two completely different players, because if you can’t see the star potential in this kid I don’t know what to tell you. where's that +1 button?
-
Good communication Avi.
-
Game really dragging now.

QUOTE (StrykerSox @ Apr 3, 2018 -> 09:14 PM) The typical unsubstantiated tripe from you. I don?€™t take you too seriously at all, but if you?€™re capable of it, I?€™d love to hear your reasoning as to why we shouldn?€™t be concerned that we traded one of the best players/contracts in baseball for a guy who could K 200 times in a season. just stop. you're already in a hole. How many f***ing times did Aaron Judge strike out last year? 208. HAVE YOU SEEN WHAT BASEBALL IS IN 2018? Goodness. Nobody gives a f*** about strikeouts. Hit the ball hard and far and take walks. Yoan Moncada has a chance to be the best 2B in my lifetime, surpassing Durham. Let's just try and enjoy the ride the kid is 22.

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Apr 3, 2018 -> 09:10 PM) This is still a winnable game if the pen can hold them. well, there is that.
-
damn ricky ain't playing.

QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Apr 3, 2018 -> 09:03 PM) Great base running Timmy! Nice to see TA using his tools so far this year on offense.
-
