6/5- Sox at Twins doubleheader, 3:10
Lopez is rocking and firing. Man he pitches with the sort of swag and loose arm you'd love to see from Gio.

Kevan Smith and Juan Minaya called up today
Oh man, I smoked entirely too much weed last night. I'm in a fog today.

Draft Day 2 Thread - Rounds 3-10 (Tracker in OP)
Are kids from the midwest/B1G schools the new market inefficiency?

I'd hazard a guess most players tracked with that technology at this level are prospects of some sort. DIII to Juco to D1 and pro. That said, it's obvious he has some flaws in his game, hence the 4th round.

From what I'm reading that kid has elite exit velocity for a HS and he is a legit rangy SS. Seems like a boom or bust pick but I like it.

Pipeline had this guy at #60 and he's young for a guy that's already had three years in college, is still only 20. Seems like a good value pick.

I'd have a really hard time rooting for a wife beater or a child molester. Have to draw the line there and agree with DA on this one.

Let's just keep loading up on names, can never have enough names guys in the system.

Kevan Smith and Juan Minaya called up today
Thank fucking god. I don't think I've ever been as excited to see a quality backup catcher on the roster. Do not think I could take much more Navarro. Just give most of the starts to Smith, at least he can catch the fucking ball.

White Sox select Nick Madrigal with 4th overall pick
Hard not to listen to that interview with his college coach and get excited. Interesting tidbit in that he compared his fielding to Ozzie's. Ozzie could pick it but let's hope Nick has a better bat! Seems like his absolute floor is 2 WAR super utility guy. Let's hope for more than that but man, this seems like a great pick at #4. Feels like you could talk yourself into him as 1:1 in this class.

I like that he hit for power in the in the wooden bat league. That speaks more than his 5-10 frame imo.

Eh, I'm just not at all worried. You can never have too many good players. I don't really care too much about power at 3B if the 3B is playing +15 runs defensively and is getting on base at a 380 clip. And it's not like he won't have his share of doubles and triples. Ideally he slashes something like 300/380/470 in his prime -- rich man's Dee Gordon.

figured he'd go to Seattle or Denver.

Easy to solve that solution either with a trade or position switch. If it happens, the Sox are in a really good position -- "excess" quality infielders.

Sox will have plenty of power in theory. Need guys that can defend and get on base at premium positions. That seems like this kid. More I think about it the more I love the pick. They needed a big time middle infield prospect and now they got one.

Once baseball goes to only 8 men in the field to encourage contact circa 2023 it's going to be great having Anderson and Madrigal and Moncada. Distrupt that, Manfred.

He can dunk tho.- The 2018 MLB Draft Thread (Tracker in OP)
Possible medical problem, no?- The 2018 MLB Draft Thread (Tracker in OP)
He can play and obviously size isn't that important for position players. Yea all things equal give me a guy like Moncada or TA body wise but all things aren't equal. Kid can hit and he can field. It's a skills game for the most part.- The 2018 MLB Draft Thread (Tracker in OP)
I like the pick. Am I a crazy or is there a little Eloy Jimenez in that swing? Like, obviously not the power but the load mechanism is similar. They both get their hands ready to hit early which is going to allow them to really wait on the ball.- The 2018 MLB Draft Thread (Tracker in OP)
The defensive highlights of Madrigal are lit, goodness. Pretty amazing hands.- The 2018 MLB Draft Thread (Tracker in OP)
That is an ugly ass swing for the 13th pick overall. I guess if he's an elite defensive CF he won't have to hit much.- The 2018 MLB Draft Thread (Tracker in OP)
Adam Dunn, Juan Pierre, can we get maybe Conor Gillaspie on TV as well? - The 2018 MLB Draft Thread (Tracker in OP)
