Yea I'm not really seeing a need to "clear the deck" for 500 Collins ABs next year. In fact he might be more useful as trade bait. There's some talent there and he could be a useful player but the Sox might not be the right situation when they seem tied to Jose at 1B next year.

They've both had great seasons. Exciting stuff. TA has to take the next step defensively tho. Part of it is learning better habits this offseason. Can't charge every ball off to the side and expect to throw accurately -- it's not needed most of the time. Square, set, throw.

Let me know when the Sox are packing in 35K+ into GRATE and the Cubs are mired around a 18K average. Then you can crow. I feel the pain of raising a kid in Chicago as a Sox fan but any talk of "tipping points" is way premature. The Sox are positioned to perhaps grab some attention, that's about it.

Given the injury risk to Moncada I really don't want him stealing a lot. He's a 6 WAR true talent player. Trying to steal 30 bags isn't worth the increased injury risk. Let him rake, play a solid defensive 3B and run like the wind on hits into the gap while not pulling a hammy or jamming a finger.

We don't need to steal a shitload of bases when the 3-4-5 is a murderer's row. In fact, I'd imagine with a 900 OPS hitter at the plate anything less than a 85% steal success rate is a net loss.

Fulmer is a scouting fail IMO.

This time of year is always a bit melancholy for various reasons. This year despite the win loss record I'm wishing summer and our boys would hang on a bit longer. Been an awful start to fall out here usually our Septembers and Octobers are prime but we've already gotten a bunch of rain and wind storms. Oh well before we know it we'll be staring out windows looking for robins and shortly after that pitchers and catchers will report and all will be renewed again.

This should totally be the plan. Then you can focus on the the rest of the roster all offseason. Clear up that business right away with the pitching going from an obvious weakness to an obvious strength and go from there. Would make bringing in defensive minded RF a possibility as well if run prevention comes back marginally cheaper or easier to acquire than run scoring.

He's def a little taken for granted. He's not a superstar but he's turned into a star and with a little defensive improvement he can put up a 5 WAR season or two in his prime.

he has bad spin rate, bad command, bad control, up and down velocity and struggles with runners on more than most. bad pitcher. short answer is: hell no, because what Gio did was historic and it hardly ever happens that's what it's, uh, historic. I'll tell you what tho if Don Cooper stays away from him maybe he'll have a fighting chance this offseason!

Now 15th in fWAR, has passed Devers and Acuna Jr, among others. 14th in wRC+ at 142. Plus a solid glove, good baserunning = superstar.

I'd say he has a live arm. As for the talent needed to be an actual pitcher and not just a thrower it's not there. He'll need an analytics overhaul to get more spin on his fastball and a mechanics overall to get more of his stuff in the zone. Right now he's a guy that is completely reliant on luck with his secondary stuff and having his best fastball in any given start. Not a good combo as we've seen.

Luckily we have a "Latin Whisperer" as manager so he can have the guys ready to play in any language.
