  1. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 23, 2015 -> 01:36 PM) Personally, I'd ask for Grandal, Seager and Urias for Sale and Danks. Wouldn't mind getting a quality starting catcher and 2 of the top 5 prospects in all of baseball while freeing up money with Danks gone. I'd much rather try to move Melky out of the way if we're doing this.
  2. QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 23, 2015 -> 01:24 PM) Cameron with another Sox article... http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/maybe-its-t...-the-white-sox/ (Drops Mic)
  3. QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 23, 2015 -> 11:38 AM) The poor farmers who didn't own slaves were told that when freed the former slaves would take their jobs and women and they'd be lower than the slaves. They may not have owned slaves, but they were sold on the war with white supremacy. And now we have a guy shooting 9 people because they will rape white women. There we go, back to original topic.
  4. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Jun 22, 2015 -> 10:40 PM) Ehh..Jose probably won't make it unless he gets hot the next few weeks, but even tho he has been a disappointment compared to last season, his numbers will keep him in the conversation. Jose Abreu and Eric Hosmer are going back and forth on which of them has the higher OPS from day to day and Hosmer is a better defender. Then there are Pujols, Teixeira, and Cabrera above him. Abreu is 5th in the AL in WAR and barely above Chris Davis among 1b. Abreu is no where close to being an all star and the only conversation is about how far away he is.
  5. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jun 23, 2015 -> 11:57 AM) I am still leaning towards the Sox trying to sign the Sharkmeister to a 3-5 year deal. Hopefully though the figure is more in line with a sum of $14M a year. The whole team has stunk this year so you can't just say it's Smards faulty and trade him away for unknown commodities. I am of the pinion that we won't see and fire sale as the management thinks next year will be better with the talent we have. Of course we may see some mid-level moves The White Sox need position players desperately. It would be totally like the White Sox to spend money on pitching and leave the position players they have to fend for themselves.
  6. QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Jun 23, 2015 -> 11:34 AM) I am not sure why Hoffman is so valued here, he is a guy that has a 4.28 ERA in A ball. He is no where near as valuable as the package that Shark was traded for last summer or even last winter and probably holds as much value as if the Sox were to just hold on to Shark and take the comp pick. They could have had a similar guy (pre-season top 5 guy that was injured) in Matuella this year in the comp round. Neither is Samardzija. And remember my rule on Comp picks. 50% chance of being in the big leagues at all in 5 years. Does Hoffman beat that? I'd say both in time and in chances given the TJS.
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 22, 2015 -> 10:25 PM) So balta, are you rooting for the Sox to lose right now? Honest question I've just made my peace with it and expect it. I'm just in "what can we do long term that is the best for the franchise" mode and at least I get to enjoy Sale.
  8. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 22, 2015 -> 10:17 PM) This organization is dreadful
  9. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 22, 2015 -> 10:17 PM) These players are dreadful
  10. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 22, 2015 -> 10:17 PM) These catchers are dreadful
  11. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jun 22, 2015 -> 10:06 PM) Why are you ignoring his 2013 season when he dominated AAA? This year you focus on a couple bad starts in May, when he was very good in April and has been elite so far in June. The kid leads the International Leauge in strikeouts by a wide margin with the rest of his periphials more than solid. And yes he was injured last year, the Sox did eventually disclose some sort of injury. His stuff is now back and the results are there. He was ready for the bigs in 2013 and there is no reason hold 2014 against him when the velocity and command have returned. You're clinging to some insider info that only tells a small fraction of the story When? No one here saw anything about that.
  12. They just showed a side by side comparison with Fulmer and Sonny Gray. Fulmer bends over a bit more. "To me you could take Fulmer and force him to the big leagues real quick as a reliever but if you want him to be a starter you've got to send him to the minors so he could work on that third pitch, just force him to A-ball and make him throw it" - announcers.
  13. QUOTE (Condor13 @ Jun 22, 2015 -> 10:01 PM) How does that ball stay fair Slope the sand along the line a tiny bit towards the field, the Cell has done the same thing for years.
  14. Fullmer's delivery is lightning quick. Reminds me of the delivery that Brandon McCarthy had when he first came up.
  15. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 22, 2015 -> 09:58 PM) Why is Danks out there? Why do I care? On the former, only Robin knows at this point. On the latter, we're all still here. Gluttons for punishment at this point.
  16. QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Jun 22, 2015 -> 09:57 PM) Alternatively, instead of cherrypicking starts, he's walked 8% of batters he's faced all season, which is completely fine. Hell I'm happy with him down there for now and Danks sucking it up because I said all along this wasn't a good team and I want a high draft pick/pool, but he's easily a major league pitcher right now. Then he will still be one at the All Star Break and maybe he'll have 8 straight great starts instead of 3. He'll still get a real solid look in the big leagues.
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 22, 2015 -> 09:06 PM) If you end up aiding the enemy more, is it the right thing to do? yes. Stop flying a racist symbol and let the racists be mad. Be the better human.
  18. QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Jun 22, 2015 -> 09:51 PM) Come on, you know better than to look at ERA and hits. He's been striking people out all year, and has mostly kept the walks at a manageable rate. In May he had 2 different games where he walked 4 people in 5 innings. 16 walks in 32 innings in May, 1.61 WHIP. He's been in a good groove for 4 starts and in the first of those he gave up 9 hits. Calling him up right now is such a completely normal, classic White Sox panic move that I can't believe people think it makes sense.
  19. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jun 22, 2015 -> 09:43 PM) You have yet to say anything about Junior Guerra which is probably the best option and most intriguing. i'd be ok with that.
  20. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jun 22, 2015 -> 09:42 PM) Eric Johnson Junior Guerra Chris Beck Kyle Drabek Terance Marin Any of the above > Danks or Carroll or Penny Chris Beck is on the disabled list. I've made the point regarding EJ repeatedly. At least check the disabled list before you suggest pitching the guy please?
  21. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jun 22, 2015 -> 09:38 PM) Brad Penny could not be any worse the rest of the year. He has a 4.67 ERA at Charlotte. Come on guys, I dislike this team as much as anyone but pay attention a bit, please.
  22. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jun 22, 2015 -> 09:38 PM) You keep saying this, but also keep ignoring the suddenly drop-off in velocity. I'm sure his mental makeup played a role, but stuff was the primary issue. And there never appeared to be a physical injury to explain that, which means it was something else.
  23. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 22, 2015 -> 09:37 PM) Seems like he should be pretty confident now He went 1-3 with a 5.29 ERA in May. He's had a total of 3 really good starts in a row. As recently as June 5 he had a 9 hit outing over 6 IP. Come on, 3 good starts, that's literally it. I know this org has no patience but come on.
  24. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jun 22, 2015 -> 09:35 PM) Amen Danks pitching shows all fans we do not care If we win or not. We. Shouldn't. We tried and wound up 8 games below .500 and at the bottom of the league by mid-June.
  25. QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Jun 22, 2015 -> 09:34 PM) Junior Guerra, Erik Johnson, hell maybe even Surkamp before we gave him away for peanuts I keep saying for EJ...they've said they want to give him time at AAA to get his confidence back and I totally agree with that after the implosion last year.
