**6/6 Game Thread for Sox vs p**** Cats**
Balta1701 replied to Brian's topic in 2015 Season in Review
Drinking, grilled mexican food, all I can say is we need to ****ing stop hitting the ball to Iglesias. -
QUOTE (venom4789 @ Jun 6, 2015 -> 02:40 PM) steve stone actually took a question like this during the game yesterday and he clearly said shuck is a number four or five outfield guy and he knows it also. A "good #4 outfielder" sometimes should be used to step in and play 3-4 days in a row if a guy genuinely needs a mental break. That doesn't seem like a bad move right now. Just a local example - the Pirates had a couple struggling IFs earlier this year, Harrison and Mercer, so they gave each of them extended breaks with Kang taking their place for a bunch and suddenly both are hitting better and they've won 12/14.

QUOTE (raBBit @ Jun 6, 2015 -> 01:57 PM) You're a smart guy and I am sure you're doing your due diligence l but you can't say this with any degree of certainty. No one on this site is privy to this information. Explain how the team held a 128 million payroll in 2011 with declining attendance and without the TV money increase from the new MLB deal. That's not even considering inflationary shifts and MLB revenue growth from 2011-2015 which is significant in regards to players salary. I know you want be the grim reaper around here but there are holes in your argument and proclamations made that lack the substantive backing to be given any credence. They're down 350,000 tickets per game since then, probably a slight boost this year from season tickets sold in the offseason but the continued losing has robbed that of any momentum, based on several reports lost sponsors thanks to the continual losing, and cut ticket prices substantially going into 2013. They had a $110 million-ish payroll in 2013 and lost money. They've added in the $25 million in new TV money since then and continued losing ticket sales. If you can add and subtract, you can track pretty darn well exactly where this team's payroll and profits are winding up every year. They're extremely predictable. -

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jun 6, 2015 -> 10:14 AM) And you can use the money you were going to spend on Shark on something else. This is an excellent post. Just to stress again, the White Sox's payroll this year is $115 million. If they don't sign Shark but do keep Alexei, their payroll rises to ~$120-125 million depending on arb guys like Noesi. The money spent on Samardzija this season is already committed next year because most of our contracts grow. In order for there to be extra payroll next year, they're going to need a revenue stream boost. -
Yeah that's a HBP no doubt, no harm for Ausmus asking for replay but right call.
-
That works i guess.
-
yeah, right move by ausmus.
-
thank goodness the bunt was not on.
-
for the next inning+ the lineups favor us.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 5, 2015 -> 11:09 PM) No hits for him I coulda swore he had a solid single to CF. I guess that must've been shuck and my BAC must be higher than I thought.
-
QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 5, 2015 -> 11:06 PM) Let's face it. He's a defensive specialist. He cannot hit. He had a solid single to CF and a solid sacrifice bunt today.
-
anyone know what the tigers have in terms of long relief?
-
Please stop hitting it towards Iglesias this is a poor strategy.
-
18 pitches? F*** it. Robertson throws the 11th. At least to start. Webb or Petricka gets up to start the inning if someone gets on.
-
QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jun 5, 2015 -> 10:49 PM) Game becomes a must win. Put Robertson back out there IMO. He hasn't pitched in a week. F*** it this is the right call.
-
LAROCHE AGAINST A RIGHTY!!!!!!!
-
QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 5, 2015 -> 10:46 PM) I know I'm late but I hope the sacrifice bunt gets banned from baseball. It's pretty much never a good idea. Why Robin wanted to get 1 out closer to Soria instead of facing anyone else in that pen, well I don't know. You had confidence in Sanchez getting a hit?
-
Ouch. That curve ball bucked my knees and I'm drunk and sitting on a couch.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 5, 2015 -> 10:38 PM) In a tie game at home, absolutely When's the last time he pitched? I assume we have an offday Monday? So even if we need him the next 2 games he'll only have pitched 3 times in a row and he hasn't pitched since May 29 according to B-R.
-
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 5, 2015 -> 10:36 PM) Best reliever in baseball this year and down 1 vs. a tie game on the road. Jesus. Huh? Dellin Betances has pitched 29 innings and has an ERA of 0 and is striking out 15 every 9 IP.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 5, 2015 -> 10:34 PM) And now he uses Robertson? Goes against everyyhing he said yesterday. Don't get me wrong, I like the move. Just bizarre given how yesterday went On the road vs. at home. You know the difference. I'm not even sure it's wrong, but it's totally the "by the book manager" move.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 5, 2015 -> 09:54 PM) Just saw a report on Twitter that she has "life-threatening " injuries. Jesus Christ. Tweets about her "bleeding profusely", fans cleaning blood off the seats after she was removed on stretcher. Like the worst possible thin you can imagine in baseball ever. Bat shards from Brett Lawrie.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 5, 2015 -> 06:58 PM) ROI is always implied in any conversation. It's easy to say signing Nelson Cruz would have been better...but not if you consider how likely he is to replicate those same numbers in 2018 or 2019. The problem is...when you play the FA market...you have to ask first and foremost "is this worth it in the upcoming season". The following years aren't the priority. If you miss the playoffs in year 1 after big FA spending then your FA spending has been ineffective and become a gamble unless it's a 7-8 year deal, when you think about the first 2-3 years. Years 4-7 are the years you use to spread out the contract because those are gamble years. Maybe they contribute a bit, maybe they don't. If you win the WS year 1, or at least they lead you to the playoffs, who cares? If you miss the playofs year 1, then suddenly you care about those years because you did something wrong.

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jun 5, 2015 -> 10:21 PM) Are you actually at the game? If so, hopefully they can get you a win tonight. No, I paid the MLB tv money. I've got tix for when they're here in 1.5 weeks, both games. Paid for the premium seats 1 game and 4th row lower deck the next day. My first days seats are nicknamed "some of the best seats in baseball". I think I get Rodon and Quintana pitching if they don't skip a start.
