  1. QUOTE (Reddy @ Jan 11, 2014 -> 08:17 PM) AND HE WAS OUTED IN THE MITCHELL REPORT! Was Piazza!? No...but neither was Sosa. The Mitchell report was 95% from like 2 suppliers - the Radomski/McNamee deal and the BALCO investigation documents. There were likely other suppliers that weren't mentioned in the Mitchell Report.
  2. Here's the problem with that concept. ptatc said he could have some suspicions based on how hard it is to build up the muscles in the forearms like that, but that's supposedly why Palmeiro's drug of choice was Winstrol; it doesn't Bonds-you.
  3. QUOTE (StRoostifer @ Jan 11, 2014 -> 06:44 PM) Yeah I know, just wishful Xbox thinking on my part plus I'm sure they can find better options. I have to disagree with you about the yanks not having the money for Keppinger since the Sox will sign Tanaka anyway therefore allowing the yanks more money for their payroll. If that happens, they'll probably have room for him after signing Garza, but he's still not better than the options they currently have if everyone stays healthy.
  4. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jan 11, 2014 -> 06:34 PM) Yeah, I think IF all those guys can stay healthy, I am sure they would be fine with Ryan's superb defense and no offense at third. IF IF someone gets hurt and IF they wind up having room underneath the Tax then Keppinger could be a fit for them but not right now.

QUOTE (dasox24 @ Jan 11, 2014 -> 06:17 PM) Yeah, I'll definitely have a car. As for what kind of stuff, well, probably some typical touristy stuff. Sight see. Hit up the beach on a weekend. Catch a baseball game. That kind of stuff I can figure out. But I guess I'm looking for things that someone not from the area would know about. Cool places to eat, etc. Any recommendation of the best beach to go to that's close? Beach on a weekend is great. Honestly they're all about the same distance from you...but if you're going on a weekend, the Santa Monica beach is simply a place you have to go. Maybe grab a meal on the pier, there's plenty of parking, there's tons of shopping on the 3rd street promenade right there if you're into that stuff. DO NOT try to drive there on a weekday. Weekend only. Weekday driving to the west side of L.A. is absolutely suicide. A couple sneakier, less known ones are Point Dume (Tony Stark's house in the movies sits on it), and San Onofre state beach, those are farther away than Santa Monica though. Plenty of touristy stuff can be done in L.A. If you can find someone who knows hollywood to give you a drive through past the sign, griffith park, etc., that's all worth doing maybe for more than a day. Catch a concert at the Hollywood Bowl. I know tons of stuff in the Pasadena Area, that's a ways from you but driving distance if you avoid rush hour. Santa Anita Horse track is there if that's your thing. You're also very close to Coachella. Tickets sold out in like 3 hours for the concert this year but can always be found through brokers. You should be close to Joshua Tree if you want a nearby park to hit up. Trust Yelp and various other review sites to find things fairly local to you just to grab quality meals. If you're in the L.A. basin usually things have had the chance to pile up reviews if they're worth doing.
  6. QUOTE (StRoostifer @ Jan 11, 2014 -> 06:22 PM) Keppinger would look great in Yankee pinstripes. I thought so too but right now they don't have room to add $4.5 million and make Tanaka the kind of offer it might take to get him. Keppinger isn't any better than what they've already signed.
  7. QUOTE (scs787 @ Jan 11, 2014 -> 05:25 PM) Soooo do they already have a backup plan at 3B??? Right now the Yankees have Jetes at SS, and Brian Roberts, Brendan Ryan, Kelly Johnson, and Eduardo Nunez to cover the other 2 IF positions. It's not exactly Cano + Arod, but if they've got their OF together, Soriano at DH, McCann at Catcher, and Tex is healthy at 1b, they would probably have enough offense to tolerate those guys at the bottom of their lineup.
  8. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jan 11, 2014 -> 04:28 PM) OK, so then they have enough money to sign him. Yes. They could offer him 6/$150 and a $20 million posting fee and still have maneuvering room under the luxury tax line for this year.
  9. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jan 11, 2014 -> 04:21 PM) So does that include the $20MM posting fee? The posting fee Does not count towards the luxury tax according to multiple internet sources. The only thing that counts towards the tax is the money paid to him directly through whatever contract he signs.
  10. This is a day when I'm glad such a thing as the "Big Ten Network" exists.
  11. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jan 11, 2014 -> 04:04 PM) didn't he admit to steroid use on camera? About 5 years ago he admitted that he used when he was with the Rangers in the early 2000's but has denied using since that point.

QUOTE (dasox24 @ Jan 11, 2014 -> 03:17 PM) Yesterday I found out that I'm taking over a new project. I'll be working with Home Depot to open a new Distribution Center in Perris, California. It looks pretty far outside of LA. Does anyone (Jason?) know much about this area? Will there be stuff to do? I've never been to Southern California. I imagine I might actually stay in Riverside or somewhere around there. What kind of stuff are you looking to do and will you have a car? If you have a car there'll be plenty of stuff to do.
  13. QUOTE (He_Gawn @ Jan 11, 2014 -> 02:39 PM) Yes, go down 15 early in first half, then later on in the first half... Put in Robinson and Williams... Indiana comes roaring back. Vonleh kept Indiana in it and finished with 19 and 6. Ferrell with 16 and 7 I believe. Honestly was Crean's best coached game of the year. Ferrell really struggled and almost went the first half without scoring.
  14. That was some big time basketball by the young Hoosiers. Whoof.
  15. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jan 11, 2014 -> 02:13 PM) Steady rain with pretty strong gusts of wind out here right now. Could be the setup for both games today then.
  16. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jan 11, 2014 -> 12:58 PM) Salaries are on a straight-line basis for luxury tax purposes, so they won't be able to front-load a Tanaka. They could feel plenty happy to offer him an opt-out though.
  17. ARoid's statement denies PED use, says he will take his case to federal court.
  18. Oh, and I for one...won't miss him one bit. See ya!
  19. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jan 11, 2014 -> 12:00 PM) This is true, which is why the Cubs' payroll have gone from the $140Ms to the low $100Ms. On top of that, let's not forget that the Cubs have spent big dollars on the draft and in Latin America. I'm not arguing that Theo & Jed thought they'd have more resources to work with, but the Cubs don't have a lot of long-term salary commitments. There's really no debate here because they've had $100M payrolls under the Ricketts ownership and $32M committed for 2015 right now. They can easly fit Tanaka if they want him. The link in the other thread has the Cubs opening day payroll being at $78 million this year.
  20. And presumably now the real legal fight starts when the Yankees see if they can get out of the contract completely.
  21. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jan 11, 2014 -> 11:54 AM) A rod suspended for all of 2014. Espn reporting this as breaking news so I assume this means a reduced suspension Puts the Yankees $27 million beneath the Luxury tax line.
  22. So, prior to today, the Yankees would have been $0.2 million over the luxury tax when they completed Roberts's deal. The Yankees appear to have $27.3 million to spend this year without hitting the luxury tax level.
  23. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jan 11, 2014 -> 11:16 AM) Implying you had respect for Rodman in the first place. Dude could get his hands on a rebound.
  24. QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Jan 11, 2014 -> 11:03 AM) Yes, I believe that's in the new CBA which was agreed upon in the lockout season. I honestly believe you should move Noah now before you end up in a situation like you did with Deng where he demands more money in his next deal and he's on the wrong side of 30 with the injury concerns. Plus, for the production he gives you, I think he's pretty overrated. I think Noah's production is appropriately paid for if he's on a competitive team looking to "win now". Just like the baseball FA market there's a price associated with putting a team ready to win now on the court and the Bulls thought they were that team the last couple years. Right now they're not. That's why I'd strongly consider moving him.
