  1. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 4, 2013 -> 09:40 PM) Would Rios really be a bad thing?? It would save the Sox 1/3 of this year's salary. Rios is paid $40 million this year?
  2. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Aug 4, 2013 -> 08:09 PM) Outside of Garcia and Jacobs there are no potential hitters among our OF prospects. Considering I brought his name up and you ignored it, can you actually give a reason why you think Trayce Thompson can never develop into a hitter or are you still stuck on repeat?
  3. QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Aug 5, 2013 -> 08:21 AM) Last time I checked, Brandon Jacob even has issues with the bat right now. Can he change that? Hopefully... but the only guy we have in the minors who is worthy of a promotion is Garcia. Yeah I know, Jacobs has serious issues with the bat right now. His 17 game hitting streak ended last night. I mean come on kid, if you can't hit for 20 games in a row every month in the minors, how will you ever hit .600 when you get to the bigs?
  4. QUOTE (Boogua @ Aug 4, 2013 -> 01:45 PM) So question for J4L. If lebron would have averaged 45 a game in the 80s (more than mike) and if you think lebron is as good in this era as mike was in his era (and you think this era is better), is lebron better than Jordan? Apologies for rehashing an old argument, but I've been drinking so whatevs Yes, if he was putting up better scoring numbers than MJ in the same era, at the same time as also putting up better rebounding and assist numbers, you'd have a case. Of course, then we'd also have the wonderful head to head matchups where Pippen's defense destroys him and then the multiple rings the Bulls walk away with even when he pu**ies out and joins the Knicks so that Ewing has to do the real work would be the trump card.
  5. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Aug 4, 2013 -> 11:11 AM) You should like Erik Johnson. He's probably a big league #3 starter. That's an important guy. He has been very good the last 1.5 years and we should be seeing him in Chicago in September. The only reason Rienzo "Passed" him is injury.
  6. QUOTE (Jake @ Aug 4, 2013 -> 04:38 PM) I think that Thornton trade may become quite the theft Boston won't care if they're in the world series.
  7. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 3, 2013 -> 05:53 PM) I wonder if he will end up back in Charlotte? The statement in the press release was that he was put on waivers with the intention of giving him his unconditional release. That's not something they always say.
  8. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Aug 4, 2013 -> 06:06 PM) This I agree with and it's another reason you don't anoint people Cy Young or Silver Slugger based on a handful of games. We were loving Dylan early in the season, but a bullpen guy he isn't at least at the end of the game And yet you're tossing him aside based on a similar number of games.
  9. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Aug 4, 2013 -> 02:30 PM) I can't argue against what you are saying. But, the weakness in the OF is Viciedo and I am not sure this year is just a slump or not. Rios is most likely gone so do they keep De Aza and move him to a corner spot? Or keep Viciedo in the OF hoping he improves wiht the bat? IMO, if nothing goes wrong, Trayce Thompson pencils in for a late 2014 or 2015 arrival and he's a legit CF who covers some serious ground out there. I have little issue using De Aza as a bridge to Trayce...if he outperforms, or gets better on defense, great. If not, we actually have talent coming up who can take over that position on defense. He'll need some serious work on offense to learn how to hit big league pitching, but we'll deal with that when the time comes.
  10. The only worse idea I can come up with than Ethier is taking on Josh Hamilton right now. Fixing the outfield requires someone out of the 5-6 guys we have who can play the OF developing into hitters. We're in a position where we might well be forced to trade or move an OF to first base in the next 6 months because we have too many OF.
  11. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Aug 4, 2013 -> 05:18 PM) Keppinger because who would trade for him? I genuinely can't believe the Yankees haven't grabbed him yet.
  12. OTL Now running that the suspensions all come Monday, 12 players to be suspended (not the previously reported 8), negotiations with ARoid broke down today and no deal is expected to be reached with him.
  13. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Aug 3, 2013 -> 11:14 AM) National baseball writer prospect draft dude. Has written/analyzed for ESPN, BP, Scout.com, Fox Sports, etc. You can kind of lump him in the Parks, Badler, Callis, Sickels, Cooper, Piliere group. Thanks, haven't heard that name before and didn't have a link.
  14. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Aug 3, 2013 -> 10:48 AM) Kiley McDaniel thinks it's a two player draft right now, Hoffman and Rodon, noticeable drop-off beginning at #3. Who is Kiley McDaniel?
  15. And apparently the Rangers still owe ARoid $40 million in deferred money.
  16. NY Post reporting a 6:00 pm deadline to appeal or accept for all players on Sunday with official announcement coming monday.
  17. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 3, 2013 -> 12:26 AM) Still doing okay with nearly 200 at-bats now. 1.022 OPS, would rank him 3rd behind Cabrera and Chris Davis. Ortiz 4th, Trout 5th. Only ten players in baseball at a 900 OPS or above. Still making lots of baserunning mistakes, though. He got picked off between 1st and 2nd because he got a horrible read/jump off Travis Wood, and ended up getting Punto in a pickle between 3rd and home with only one out, but Wood fell apart that inning and gave up four walks and that was all she wrote. .789 OPS in July for Puig.
  18. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Aug 2, 2013 -> 09:37 PM) Yep, we really don't need another "#1" because we already have one. so if he can be a 3 or 4 guy it would be perfect And both Quintana and Santiago are pitching like solid number 2 starters.
  19. ARoid Doing a press conference and he genuinely looks smaller. Both me and my wife noticed.
  20. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Aug 2, 2013 -> 09:32 PM) Garcia 3/4, HR, 2 singles and a walk today. Except for the wall, pretty much what he's done all year
  21. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Aug 2, 2013 -> 09:24 PM) Greg Oden signs with the Heat for the minimum so the Heat still have their mini mid level left. Ridiculous. Easiest signing to predict ever. At least I can feel like I have a legit chance when I'm hoping that guys on the heat get hurt.
  22. QUOTE (flavum @ Aug 2, 2013 -> 09:14 PM) 55 left. 16-39 with two losses to Houston might get it done. I can't see a team with this good of pitching having that record, but I have no clue how you lose 8 in a row when your starters have an era under 2.75 over the stretch.
  23. QUOTE (dasox24 @ Aug 2, 2013 -> 09:11 PM) These are both true statements. We sure didn't luck out when it comes to scheduling this year. @Bama, @Oregon, @Florida, UGA, SC. It's hard to "luck out" on a schedule in the SEC
  24. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 2, 2013 -> 09:12 PM) Coulda swore rios was out Nope got under it
