  1. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Apr 30, 2013 -> 08:57 PM) that curve was pretty silly Shingo worthy
  2. I vaguely remember protesting a school last St. Patrick's day. At least I think it was a protest. Could also have been me passed out in an alley surrounded by mice. But I did make a protest sign. Mo nice!
  3. QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 30, 2013 -> 05:54 PM) Wise replaces Danks (knee) LOL, seriously, another man down?
  4. Justin Blackmon suspended first 4 games of the season for violating league's substance abuse policy.
  5. QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 30, 2013 -> 04:08 PM) Pierzynski on the bench tonight. Somehow I expect things like this to happen when AJ is at the plate.
  6. Still no Keppinger. He's getting to the point where he might need a DL trip.
  7. Reporter taking self photo at Fenway during BP at the same time a home run is hit...
  8. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Apr 30, 2013 -> 02:37 PM) What rule did he break? You're just making s*** up at this point. You not agreeing with what he said =/= him violating his contract. Obviously his contract has to include some language allowing for termination if he says something particularly offensive to a group that ESPN wouldn't be willing to offend, that would be standard for their contributors at this point.
  9. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Apr 30, 2013 -> 02:20 PM) Well, in the context of employment it absolutely is. You cannot be terminated for your religious beliefs. If Broussard was fired yesterday/today, it's obvious it was based on his statements relating to his religious beliefs. It had nothing to do with his actually employment. That's a good discrimination case from his side. Edit: I don't think this is absolute, but I think here, within the context of his statements, it would be. Just to point this out again.... In about 60% of the states in this country...he cannot be fired for his religious beliefs...but if he had come out as gay, he could be fired for that.
  10. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Apr 30, 2013 -> 01:46 PM) His statements don't do this. He's condemning them in the context of his personal religion and he's not excluding Collins or gays from anything. This is a serious stretch. When this country finally gets around to banning discrimination against homosexuals in everyday life like it has most other minorities, then we'll stop connecting these type of comments to the fact of legally enforced discrimination.
  11. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Apr 30, 2013 -> 01:43 PM) I know there are different "versions" of Christianity, but an overwhelming majority of those versions teach that homosexuality is wrong. However, television has been about the worst invention ever for Christianity. It is very difficult to accurately convey the Christian message using that medium. The number of religious channels that are stuck in my TV package seems to disagree with this.
  12. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Apr 30, 2013 -> 01:35 PM) Self-identifying Christians talk constantly about sin and actions that are not "Christian-like." They might not talk about it on ESPN, but when was the last time there was an OTL segment on the problem with professional athletes and adultery or gambling? Those discussions happen all the time. Whether or not they end up on TV is up to the producers. That doesn't mean those conversations aren't being had. And why isn't he entitled to a national media platform? It's a free country, ESPN can do what they want. And the last bit is just "his opinion is wrong and doesn't deserve tolerance." I think you're using an incredibly broad definition of bigot here. I found 5+ OTL features involving gambling in the last 4 years just by googling. Link Link Link Link Link Link
  13. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Apr 30, 2013 -> 10:40 AM) I think it's significant, I don't think it's something to give the guy a medal for. Who exactly has done that?
  14. Sox will have to clear a spot on the 40 man roster to make room.
  15. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Apr 29, 2013 -> 10:15 PM) How did a handful of people seem to know about this over the past week or so? I believe he was out on waivers a few days ago.
  16. QUOTE (Jake @ Apr 29, 2013 -> 09:40 PM) He did do that. Except most NBA players don't announce that they are having premarital sex. But he did say that those who have premarital sex are similarly living in sin. But he's happy to make himself rich talking about those players too.
  17. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 29, 2013 -> 06:57 PM) If Broussard wants to call people out for living in sin, can't he call out about 95% of the NBA? I don't understand why someone has to hide or be ashamed of being gay. It is what they are. Some guys like big boobs, some guys like blondes, some guys like guys. Collins isn't a very significant player, and Broussard would never really have to talk to him. If it were a really big name, he would have said nothing today. Because dude, Kobe scored 81. That's like a get out of sin free card.
  18. QUOTE (Swingandalongonetoleft @ Apr 29, 2013 -> 06:25 PM) Glad to see that he has a weekly column. This was the best reply.
