Who do you blame for the current state of the team?

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 5, 2013 -> 02:05 PM) Okay, "high contact/lower strikeout" type of player. Instead, he's been more like Brent Morel, minus the stellar defense. Morel's defense wasn't stellar. -
QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ May 4, 2013 -> 10:56 PM) Come on fellas, our plan is executing to perfection. Derrick is going to announce his unexpected return 2 hours before game 1 against the Heat fully healthy, and better than ever. This totally catches the Heat off guard, and leads to a series win and a trip to the finals. After all, this IS the only way anyone can stop the Heat. If Lebron gets hurt its a series.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 4, 2013 -> 10:36 PM) Unfortunately, the ONE area where we've been productive in our minor league system (especially last year) has been producing relievers. The problem is that they have the lowest trade value of any component of a team. But...if you turn a young guy into a successful closer, you can build that value a lot.

QUOTE (Jake @ May 4, 2013 -> 10:48 PM) If everyone is healthy going into the Heat series, it is worth questioning whether we are at our best with Derrick. That is an unfathomably large "if" though The only thing less likely than Rose receiving a heart transplant is the Bulls suddenly becoming healthy.

Jon Favreau needs to go on a diet.

It's always fun to show up and read through the first two pages of a game thread when people are ripping the pitcher when you already know he's turned in 6/2 with 6 hits.

Very good show. Avengers still one level up, that one hits spectacular for me, but a really good movie. I think I liked Iron Man 1 better but that's close. The 3D was useless but I didn't pay for it.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 4, 2013 -> 12:57 PM) They have no chance, due in a large part to their franchise cornerstone thinking the game isn't important enough for him to play in. If it isn't important enough to Rose who is making $20 million a year to play basketball, it isn't important enough to me who gets nothing out of it. They will make it a surprisingly close game given how banged up they are, and they even have a shot to win, but they're seriously outnumbered and outgunned.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 4, 2013 -> 09:45 AM) While not flashy sabr stats, I'd say a 2-4 win pitcher every year who isn't on a free agent contract is pretty flashy in teh sabr sense. -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 4, 2013 -> 09:41 AM) To give Peavy as much time as possible to get over his back spasms. We'll be lucky if Peavy is ready to go 100% on Monday.

Mark Buehrle must be feeling snake-bitten...

QUOTE (Reddy @ May 3, 2013 -> 10:23 PM) right but his quality of life the last couple years has dropped compared to when he played for us. obviously it still ain't bad, but from his perspective it's probably less enjoyable. But he has an extra $30 million to offset that, and that's the choice he made. -
QUOTE (fathom @ May 3, 2013 -> 09:45 PM) Quietly, Phegley's having a heck of a season How has that been quiet? People here have been asking if he could replace flowers since ST I think

QUOTE (pettie4sox @ May 3, 2013 -> 05:14 PM) F*** The Following. My goodness that show better not get renewed. What a overhyped crock of s***! It was already renewed.
-
QUOTE (pettie4sox @ May 3, 2013 -> 05:03 PM) What does a healthy Danks usually pitch like? 1/2 fastballs that sit in the low 90's, 1/4 cut fastballs, 1/4 changeups with the change as the outpitch to both righties and lefties. Occasional curve thrown in but not strong enough to notice.

QUOTE (mr_genius @ May 3, 2013 -> 04:51 PM) i believe Balta said the videos were very offensive to him and he wrote a letter to CSN demanding her resignation. looks like he got his wish. Someone did something involving ice? what?

QUOTE (staxx @ May 3, 2013 -> 04:35 PM) There's a chance he may not pitch even next year. Like we said, it's a 12-18 month rehab. Most guys are throwing at around 12 months and can compete in games and are fully back by 18 months. This isn't Derrick Rose we're talking about. At worst he ought to be pitching in minor league games early next season. -
QUOTE (iamshack @ May 3, 2013 -> 03:08 PM) Ugh...sounds like he'll likely miss game 7... This is getting out of control...the frustration from Rose's absence is spilling out onto other players...who now feel obliged to justify their own absences via twitter. Ridiculous. I think Deng would have said all that anyway just because people were reporting he was out with the flu and there wasn't a clear report from the team. Plus, I mean, nate was throwing up during the game.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 3, 2013 -> 02:43 PM) Say what you want about all Chicago fans and being meatheaded, if there is a winner on the field the fans are normally there. The Sox fans are a bit more stubborn than the rest, but we have seen what the cell looks like when the playoffs start. When the Cubs had their run with Piniella, they were probably right at the top in road attendance. But at the time, they were spending so much money that they weren't profitable in order to get the team sold. That's the problem with moving out of Wrigley. Right now, they still have 31,775 a game in Wrigley for a losing team that has been cutting costs for years. They move out...yes, they improve their ability to make money when the team is winning, but if they drop down to 25k because they lose the stadium nuts...they remove their safety net. The stadium guarantees them ticket sales from people who don't care about baseball even when the team is down. If they move, of course, it means that they actually need to put a winning team on the field to draw fans. Right now they are solid even if they lose as long as they don't spend too much on payroll. -
QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ May 3, 2013 -> 01:52 PM) How long is Peavy really going to be out for with back spasms? Also, anyone know how hard Danks was throwing last night? The only thing tweeted was 84-87 in the first inning...but minor league guns are often a mess. Worth noting though that he only struck out 1 batter.

QUOTE (GoSox05 @ May 3, 2013 -> 01:50 PM) Really sucks for Floyd. Going into free agency and now having surgery. I guess he could pitch later next year, after all-star break. Most pitchers are back throwing in games around 12 months and then ~18 months plus back to ~ normal (or sometimes even stronger) with this surgery, so it's possible he could set a goal of opening day next year and hit it. Of course, if he signed with the White Sox again, he'd hurt his arm while signing the contract and that'd be it for next year.
