  1. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 3, 2013 -> 01:17 PM) Cubs fans are cubs fans. People didnt stop going to see the Yankees because they built a new stadium. If Ricketts built an awesome new stadium with tons of amenities, and Theo's plan came to fruition, the fans would come. They may lose a lot of casual wrigley fans, but lets not pretend like the cubs fans aren't one of the best traveling fanbases in baseball. They practically sell out Miller Park and chase field by themselves. Those fans aren't going to see the field, they are going to see the team. RIght now the Cubs are 20th in road attendance. I um, don't want to say where the White Sox are.
  2. QUOTE (flavum @ May 3, 2013 -> 01:46 PM) What if Danks comes back? 1. Sale 2. Peavy 3. Quintana 4. Danks 5. Axelrod 6. Santiago Who's out? Or the dreaded 6-man rotation? We'll decide that at the time. Right now we're sitting at a 4 man rotation until Peavy is able to go.
  3. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 3, 2013 -> 09:30 AM) If we're going to pick on anyone, it should be the GM and coaching staff/Ventura. They're the ones who have most of the starters seemingly hitting the wall around 75 pitches. This is the same organization that's led the majors or at least the AL in quality starts since 2003. The last time he came into a game, he wasn't given enough time to get ready and the weather was horrible. Everyone knows the starters need to get the ball to the bullpen for the 7th, instead of the 6th. It has been an issue with nearly every starter on the staff, spotlighting Santiago is pointless. Also, keep in mind the Rangers' line-up isn't exactly chopped liver. They went to two World Series and three playoff appearances in a row...any time you can take 2/3 on their home field, you consider yourself quite fortunate and don't look for the negatives as much as you accentuate the things that did allow you to win the series. With a guy who was targeted for the bullpen coming out of spring training, hitting the wall at 85 pitches is still pretty good. I have no problem with that whatsoever. It was the other guys like Peavy and well, Floyd, where it was really buggging me. Sale kinda makes sense too...it seems like April was a dead-arm month for him, which I guess shouldn't surprise us given how big his innings boost was from 2011-2012. Peavy and Floyd ought to have been better conditioned out of ST though.
  4. Of course...they might be able to teach nutrition in middle and high school if that subject was on the standardized tests. And besides, who needs to read books these days anyway? Everything ought to be done on Kindles and iPads anyway. (/sarcastic replies).
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 3, 2013 -> 08:03 AM) I couldn't even watch this game yesterday. I might not watch game 7 either depending on what we can send out there. Heck if Rose can't play, why should I watch? Now you've figured out my attitude about the whole f***ing waste of a season.
  6. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ May 3, 2013 -> 09:19 AM) I blame the removal of the Catch-All
  7. God this offense is terrible and unwatchable and this team absolutely sucks at everything. Sell them all off.
  8. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ May 3, 2013 -> 09:05 AM) The Sox have played Texas pretty tough the past few years. For whatever reason, they seem to match up well with them. My guess would be that it's because they are a team predicated on throwing fastballs while not doing a ton on the basepaths anymore, but it's hard to put a finger on a lot of this stuff. It's actually kind of wierd, because outside of Hamilton, I have gotten the impression that Texas was a team that was really good at piling up the pitches on people and that's never worked well for the Sox.
  9. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 3, 2013 -> 08:42 AM) BS. He threw 92 pitches in 5.1 while allowing almost nothing. He has to lower his pitch count to go deeper in games. It's not like he's running out of gas at the 50 pitch mark. If his arm was stretched out to throw 110 pitches without getting tired he'd be into the end of the 6th/start of the 7th in a game like yesterday, and that's just groovy. (Don't forget that those last 8 pitches or so were thrown after he'd already hit the wall, so let's say he wore out this game at 85/6.1).
  10. I'll bet there's a 50/50 shot that he signs a minor league deal with the ChiSox in the offseason.
  11. QUOTE (Jake @ May 2, 2013 -> 08:53 PM) We could really just use any warm bodies. Also, what's with the god damn offensive foul calls against Taj? Perhaps Derrick was bitten by a zombie?
  12. QUOTE (Tex @ May 2, 2013 -> 08:24 PM) So if the Sox moved to the suburbs there would be a mass exodus over to Wrigley? I don't see it. Cub fans will continue to be Cub fans, they ain't going anywhere. Sox fans aren't obsessed with their stadium and don't use it as their only excuse for why they like the team.
  13. Deng spent part of yesterday in the ER. I think the entire city has voodoo dolls made of them.
  14. QUOTE (flavum @ May 2, 2013 -> 06:42 PM) Date is wrong in the title. 2k5 is so far into high frequency trading that he's already writing posts in tomorrow's game thread.
  15. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ May 2, 2013 -> 06:36 PM) Santiago + couple of mid-level prospect + $10M > Gavin Floyd But if there was any worry about Danks being out, doesn't that mean your real comparison is Axelrod + $10 million?
  16. QUOTE (flavum @ May 2, 2013 -> 06:18 PM) Seriously, this day cannot get any worse for the Sox org. https://twitter.com/MDGonzales/status/330081963341905921 There's still a baseball game to be played.
  17. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ May 2, 2013 -> 06:17 PM) Such a shame that he was never traded during the offseason. Everything felt like it was the prefect time, there was a big need for his caliber of inning-eater, and yet nothing was done and now he is useless to us. Great. Another kick in the nuts as a Sox fan. From who? The White Sox? Agreed.
  18. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ May 2, 2013 -> 06:18 PM) Wait, what happened with Peavy? Did I miss something? Yes, Back spasms, thread in PHT.
  19. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ May 2, 2013 -> 04:23 PM) Yep, as soon as it gets warm and the wind starts blowing out, Wood's numbers will skyrocket. He currently has a .202 BABIP.
  20. QUOTE (Jillian Michaels' Abs @ May 2, 2013 -> 04:13 PM) I listen to XM radio all day at work and if Braves fans had their way, the Braves would trade for a league average 2B and Uggla would become their new DH. The Braves want to move to the AL?
  21. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 2, 2013 -> 04:07 PM) Peavy's not dead! Danks is on the mend. Floyd is a replacement-level pitcher.
  22. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 2, 2013 -> 04:03 PM) Who would have ever thought Floyd, Danks and Peavy would all be out in the same season? What is happening to baseball pitchers?? Are 10-year careers in the future going to be nonexistent? Are baseball pitchers careers going to be 4-5 year windows of excellence, then surgery, then mop up duty til nobody offers you a contract (unless you are a lefty?) Peavy has been pulled from 1 start with back spasms.
