  1. Few things make me want to hug a pitcher more than working over Aviles like that.
  2. QUOTE (soxfan49 @ Jul 19, 2012 -> 08:30 PM) Trayce Thompson has 17 homers this year. Why have I seen some posters here say that they "haven't lost all hope for him just yet?" It seems like he's fulfilling that potential quite well right now. Am I missing something? Poor K/BB ratio? Take a look at every number other than hr.

  4. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 19, 2012 -> 07:57 PM) If you were in the park last night, then that's cool It was so rainy last night we couldn't enjoy the neighborhood.
  5. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jul 19, 2012 -> 07:52 PM) Just curious, are you at a bar with your laptop? Iphoning it in.
  6. QUOTE (MAX @ Jul 19, 2012 -> 07:47 PM) I could never visit a place where people talk like that. It annoys the hell out of me. Our it makes you feel bettah, I'll go down the street and order a properly pronounced sausage. These pitchers have been filthy.
  7. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 19, 2012 -> 07:38 PM) Go scalp a ticket, price drops by the 2nd inning Enjoying the bahs too much. Was in the pahk last night.
  8. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 19, 2012 -> 11:56 AM) I don't understand what this has to do with your original point. Are you arguing that JPM supported the MRTU so they could game it? I'm arguing that the agencies writing the regulations are completely corrupted and thus continue to write regulations that have loopholes their contributors/employers can exploit. it's no accident that the head of the CPUC is the former head of Southern California Edison. That's how it's supposed to work. The people writing the rules write them to protect anyone other than the consumer.
  9. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 19, 2012 -> 11:47 AM) I think you are off-base here, Balta. The original CAISO rules, maybe...but since then, they have implemented the MRTU, which was designed to stop all the abuse. The CPUC was heavily involved in implementing that. And it took JPM what, a couple months to figure out how to cheat that technology upgrade?
  10. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 19, 2012 -> 11:10 AM) To clarify here, most Soxtalk posters didn't want Youk at the high prices that were being bandied about in the early days, when things like Matt Thornton plus Gavin Floyd were being proposed by certain Tribune columnists who have since forgotten about that... I don't remember anyone saying they didn't want Youk plus cash for Stewart and Lillibridge. Some had reservations about how healthy Youkilis actually was, myself included, but no one said they flat out hated the trade, and didn't want him at all. Picking out part of the discussion and ignoring the end result? QUOTE (Marty34 @ Jul 19, 2012 -> 11:38 AM) Whatever the reason, many posters on Soxtalk were wrong about Youkilis. PRetty much exactly.
  11. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 19, 2012 -> 11:40 AM) I can't pretend to have any knowledge of the history of that...I'll defer to you on that one. Who are you saying supported the deregulation? It's not just "Supporting", you can get lots of people who will line up behind supporting deregulation. It's much more "the ability to insert obscure clauses that allow you to game the system but that no one else can care about until the law is in place" that is hurting here.
  12. You say "California has determined"...but you're side-stepping my point. That determination was made because the utilities bought and paid for that system so that it could be easily gamed. The existence of the CAISO and the ability to manipulate it was built into the system when it was designed and has been protected by those same utilities using their political contribution arms.
  13. The amazing thing about this company is...we actually know what kind of political contributions they're making and we can make our own economic choices based on whether or not we want to support that. Remarkable, isn't it?
  14. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 19, 2012 -> 11:20 AM) California doesn't need to be an ISO. They could be a part of the WECC and take almost all of this nonsense out of play. We rely on supply and demand and traders and analysts to make decisions as to how to best serve our own native loads. We allow marketers to come and play too. Part of the problem is the CAISO is almost entirely controlled by software systems that are easily fooled. Why do you think the original deregulatory bill that created the CA ISO did things the way that they happened? Because the deregulatory bill was bought and paid for by the people who would benefit most from the deregulation.
  15. Yeesh, I'd jump in on the Bears at 25-1 if I could.
  16. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 19, 2012 -> 11:06 AM) Just another comment...I love the tone of that article As if it is the market participants' fault for finding the best way to play the game because the rules are inefficiently designed. GMAB. So...what happens when they are the ones who write the rules and do so in a way so that they can game them? That's a pretty great summary of our entire system.
  17. How long can rehab stint last when starting at low levels? He could still be useful as a defensive/health replacement when rosters expand.
  18. QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Jul 18, 2012 -> 10:12 AM) I'm surprised he didn't mention that. "You know, Stone Pony, after I was traded from the Carmines..." He talked about it with Boston's radio guys before the game yesterday and I got their version of a Ken Harrelson Boston Red Sox story last night. He said he got that kind of standing O after being traded, came up and hit a home run, and that was the last time they cheered him.
  19. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 18, 2012 -> 09:58 AM) 2010 for sure....not sure if we can blame Ozzie for 2006, though. Will go to my grave saying that we'd have won the division if we'd actually played Anderson in CF as a regular starter rather than as a part time platoon player with Mackowiak's incredibly awful defense killing us out there. Yes, the advanced stats don't say it cost us more than a game or so...every time Mack was out there, he killed us.
